That's a good question. They have to know, someone will be looking to return the favor.
I'll bet at this very moment the Goons are cleaning house, booting people left and right, looking to save themselves from a similar fate. If they arent... break out the popcorn!

I think you missed the presentation. They cleverly ship their trust around disguised as care packages. Destroy all that which is evil, so that which is good may flourish. |

Ah, what interesting times we live in. I'll be looking forward to seeing what changes in the game as a result, be it market prices or whatever. I don't have a horse in the 0.0 race, but I have always believed the Goons would eventually beat BoB, it was just a matter of when and how. It's hard to argue with their numbers.
In any case, I think the game mechanics for ejecting corps from an alliance is a little odd, but so long as the mechanics stay as they are, I think it's perfectly fair to exploit them. BoB should've either treated their directors better or picked better directors, so it's hard to really blame anyone for this other than themselves. Goon was just there to exploit the situation, as logically they should've.
I think this kind of thing is certainly in the spirit of EVE. This is a very cutthroat game for those who want to leave the safety of their starter NPC corps and >0.4 space. Remember, this is a game where all sorts of scams are perfectly legal, piracy is encouraged, and espionage and sabotage (if the game guide is to be believed) is expected and allowed by the game designers. This isn't a pretty game, at times, and strikes me as an excellent simulator for real life power struggles. The Goons should be recognized for their insight and yes, their luck. Sometimes you get lucky in business, and it takes a certain ruthlessness and intelligence to take advantage of the opportunities presented. Yes, this is business. Business is war, and all's fair in war. I can only assume the people complaining are those who had a vested interest in the strength of BoB for one reason or another. Maybe they were in it, maybe they were a BoB pet, maybe they just produced and ran ammo and ships to BoB and are now out of business. Doesn't really matter, the point is you shouldn't complain when people follow the rules of the game you yourselves have benefited from. Being neutral, I can only find these events fascinating.
In any case, ex-BoB pilots should see this as an opportunity to prove themselves worthy of the territories many have claimed they gained illegitimately. Without the advantages of cyno jammers and jump bridges and whatever else, ex-BoB corps will be on equal footing against the invaders. If ex-BoB survives, it will be hard for anyone to criticize them again for being weak and ineffectual. And if they do fall, well, that will mean that no power bloc is invincible, and that new powers actually stand a chance in the game. This is a concept I think for everyone's sake is a good thing. It means we don't have stagnation.
Like I said, interesting times, and I'm going to enjoy watching the aftermath unfold. |

EXACTLY !
Goons never could defeat BOB on an even playing field no matter how large the kiddieswarm is. This was the only way they could get ahead. Cheap but it has happened. Only funny thing is watching all the kiddieswarm talk how they are better or more skilled.. this in fact is false :)
You never could defeat BOB on an even field nor would you have. Better pilots , better skill, better everything. Espionage and shady tactics is what goon excels in and they proved it. |

Considering that Goons turn on eachother quite often, I don't think "trust" is a word that gets used often with any earnestness amongst them.

I've been away from the game awhile and just found out that Goons think they beat Bob by recruiting a director to steal some spare pocket change kept in the corp wallet(kept there for tipping parking attendants at resturants I believe), along with a few spare ships left in the hanger collecting dust, and killing the alliance name after kicking the corps. Can someone please explain to me how they 'beat' Bob? Last I checked Molle and the Boys were still logging in, forming a new alliance, and going about buisness as usual, you know being the richest not to mention best armed players in the game.... ______________________________________

i'm reading all this **** here as a rookie pilot in eve. i was reading BoB history same as Goons. I just can't understand why you are all so excited about this event and why you congratulate Goons ???
1. BoB lost not because of simple war but because of betrayal. If that guy who disbanded their alliance didn't like BoB he should leave it and change site. This man is without honour. 2. All this situation just shows how weak are the Goons - they could not defeat BoB in stright forward war. I understand that they took opportunity - but what it tells me is that I'm not going to like them more then before for such behaviour. Open war is for reall men - what they did is for pussies. Having such force is not a problem to go and kill BoB remains - it's not a HUGE victory as you all claim. It was like killing rats closed in a box. 3. I'm not fan of any of those 2 alliances - i see the simple facts. Goons will dominate EVE world for now but what I could say is - some day they'll fall and maybe even by same way as BoB did - betrayal. 4. Because of all those circumstances i feel bad about BoB. No metter how bad or good they were - it's not the way they history should end. They deserved something better.
That is what i think. As i'm saying - i'm new here so there is no way i'll say i like goons or bob. they are just some alliances for me far far away in space. I just think i see things as they really are. Most of you here play EVE long enough to be emotionally connected to one of those alliances. |

Bob forced metagaming, spying, stealing, betrayals, all kinds of (legit?) dodgy ninja tactics. Now they are victim of their own style of play... End of story. |

As clearly, goon have never done that. They always behave. I remember them trying to discredit CCP IRL after the t20 thing, that was blown entirely out of proportion. Bob are bad, but are not the first and certainly not the only ones to use all the "dodgy" tactics you mention. TBH i think this whole thing is a load of crap. Id have though an alliance couldnt "close" whilst it holds sov, and that sov regrades down not just instantly goes from 4-0.
However regardless on this, noone beat bob though force of arms, and it was an internal betrayal + some rather crap game mechanics.

Hi, BoB "pet" here, first i realy got ****ed i was transporting my stuff from PB to Aridia to continue fights with PL so i got cought in middle of sh***t storm but then i'm realy thankfull to goons, now i don't need to transport anything and wait long hours to fight in some distant area now targets are coming to us. Two days ago flight from empire to PB was boring jb->jb->jb... now with all those reds blinking on my local i can feel adrenaline rush. THX! This is only game if BoB will get up it will be great cause i'm sure they will be ****ed off and will try to get revange if not prabably some bigger alliance after months of fight will take over Delve and we will have to fight out for new home either way next 3-4 months will be realy intresting. Fly safe guys and lets meet in a fight. Good Luck to everyone.

Well, sucks to be BoB and I think that many alliances will learn an important lesson from this. This is EVE, if you get scammed or fall victim to the game mechanics then that's tough luck.
I don't feel sorry for BoB, it is however somewhat of an anti-climax and certainly NOT a victory for Goons.

I didn't say that Bob was the only alliance who did it. I just state the especially BoB forced it and thus they deserve to die to it.

EVE needed this. This is the most exciting thing that has happened to it, in ages!
In any case, the question remains: Now that the Punic Wars are over, what will happen to the world? Does this mark the beginning of a Pax Romana, or will we see a new powerful order, rise from the ashes of mighty Carthage? I'm rubbing my hands in excitement already!
