I ask, how does CCP bring EVE- to the forefront of MMOs when they consistantly fail to maintain the player base with large numbers- (Via Pvp fights)--- Or simple systems like Jita?
I at this point still have to post for (myself and those)-- beyond the UBER stoopid/relentless that fill these forums like a plauqe and wonder why I have an 8 Megebite cable connection (that yes dominates most of the time) but, when I realize its not my connection its CCP's inferior capability, to the point, CCP the Lag is and has been unacceptable!
How many posts until CCP wakes up? And how many post until CCP wants to be the new MMO of power?
I think you forgot some points in your post. But to throw up my specs and payment..
P4 3ghz, 512mb ddr2 ram ATI Radeon 9800PRO 9,95 euro p/m Internet at 300kb/s down and 40kb/s up.
Seriously dude, if i can run around jita and PVP there, then you've got some f'ked up problem.
It used to take me 30-40 minutes to jump in, warp, dock, load market etc. now less then a minute.
It sometimes takes me 2 hours to get to the Auction House on some busyer WoW servers.
I cant see where CCP fail or are sleeping here. -- Real men corpse tank Void Forums The Chaotic Order Forums |

Seriously? Sux. If that were me I'd dig the street up myself and offer to lay the fibre optics for them! ;)

Edited by: Cpt Cosmic on 09/02/2009 12:18:08 you dont even need 8m for games, games use much less of bandwith. I have weaker rigs then most of the players and mostly have no problems where others have serious lag.
problem is routing the data to everyone and cpu load for the server. if you have a crapload of players on one spot, you have to deliver the data to all of these players back and forth which may take time and if those 1000 players giving the servers cpu a hard time, it may be delayed even more. your location may shift it to worse or better gameplay.

Ah, OK, so my 20Mb connection is a figment of my imagination? As is the 100Mb connection that's being installed in the summer? I'm in Belfast, too, so not exactly the hub of the UK either...
J-L was a little laggy, 30 secs module lag with a shade under 1200 in local on Friday evening. No real problems though. Core2 3GHz, 4GB RAM, 8800GTS, Vista 64.

I don't really understand much about how the servers work and how Jita is supported? Like if there are miltple Super computers taking part or what??!!
Anyway, the situation isn't as bad as it used to be.
Only downside to that is, the effect is still the same because now even more people go to Jita, whereas before it was only for the lonely wanderer who did not mind being stuck in space where time does not exist...

Because subscriptions continue to rise and CCP are under no obligation to tell the truth about their servers. Read the EULA and there are several get out clauses. They can claim that it supports fights of hundreds of people per side and make all sorts of claims about stackless/python but all the players know that you need to send a special message to CCP to get the node reinforced for this to get decent performance.
I can't wait until the boxed edition hits the shelfs in a few weeks because I will be here helping new players who complain about lag etc by telling them that it has always been this way and it is best to stay in one of the reinforced mission running hubs than try pvping.

Really? In what locale? I just installed 2 T1 circuits last week in Central Florida, USA. If "T1 has been phased out", someone forgot to tell Verizon, Embarq, the subscribers, the Florida PSC, etc...............

1. Turn off Drones, turret effects and other graphical effects (ctrl+T and ctrl+E). 2. Clear the overview and kill all bracket settings of everything other than specific shiptypes for each tab. 3. Kill all sound in eve. 4. Make sure that you have a fast HD for your cahce folder (and clean it often, re-installing won't help you unless you do). 5. Always stay max-zoomed out when entering a grid. 6. Use a VPN tunnel and/or try a different port to the TQ server (instructions are around here somewhere). 7. Try connecting without using a router or hub (or buy a new better one). 8. Don't do torrents and play eve (since most home user hardware can't handle the high number of simultaneous connections that torrents use, problem grows with a faster connection).
If you're still experiencing problems: 1. Make sure you're not in Delve 2. Buy a new computer. Memory size and speed, Harddrive R/W and search speeed, GFX card, CPU seems to be most important to eve (in that order provided that you meet the minimum specs) 3. Get a new ISP
I rarely have problems with lag in eve. In really big fleetfights with lot's of people dying and many jump-ins, log ins and caps cynoing in there's usually trouble. But that's to be expected. Breathing 0.0 |

LOL, now we have a system challenge. Give me a break quad core, 4 Megs 64 bit Vista, 2 512 cards!
Bolded your problem there buddy.
With memory being so cheap I'm surprised anyone's still only got 4MB RAM.

I pay nearly 65 monthly for a 8 meg connection no, its not the best but, its SEDCOND BEST, Whats better A+ connection--- that'll cost you 250$ to 300$ a month depending on your local cable provider! Do not play with me!
Jees and i thought Britain was slow in the bband stakes hats of to the usa, i pay 30 gbp for a 20 meg connection a month. Also to the op there are many many factors other than your connection and ccp's connection to take into account you cant blame ccp for how the internet operates they only have control over there game. |

So, when it takes our gang of around 130 ships approximately 2 minutes to jump through a gate into an empty system, it's because of our cheap video cards? |
