It is wholly dependent on what DJ and what time you're listenning in.
There are other radio stations apart from ER also, if the DJ on station isnt your thing, maybe switch to another one.
Actual metal music i find is probably the least suited to eve, whereas Classical/opera fits it so well.
I would tend to agree, but then I am baised by my choice of music also. (Chillout/Ambient)
But as stated, there are multiple stations, as well as your own music, there is enough choice out there for you to find something that suits your taste.
On a side note, I would love to listen to your show but due to the times you're on there's really no way in hell I could due to real life constraints. Similarly I know you can't offer us downloads of your show due to the legal issues surrounding it so I was wondering if you might have any suggestions on how I might achieve my goal? apart from what i said about classical/opera. I would say EBM/synthpop/darkwave music is what eve is for me.
If you don't know what i mean by these genres. Here is a link to a good band

I'ts safe to assume everyone is biased by the music they prefer, Im a big Indie fan myself but to listen to it in EVE would be... well wrong, This thread isnt so much about the "I listen to Indie so Indie is best for everything crowd" those of us who truely appreciate music and radio will agree that different types of music are right for different situations. |

Just listen to DJ Beer every Friday night 21:00-23:00 Eve time. Song requests can be made in game on 'The Black Rabbits' channel. I never heard him play Dance, Trance or House.
My opinion may or may not be shared by my alliance |

Not the sort of behaviour I expect from a company that claims to be modern and tolerant of all people.

I was hosting the show in question with CCP Claw, there were no degrading comments at any point directed at the gay community. The discussion in question revolved around Claw's visit to a gay bar and a discussion of which tune (Gloria Gaynor's - I will Survive, or the London Gay Men's Chorus rendition of "It's Raining Men") was in fact, more gay (as in literally homosexual, not lame/stupid as popular culture has also defined the term) while talking about how awesome the scene at the only gay bar in Iceland is. I fail to see the intolerance in our discussion.
As to the OP's assertion of the music of Eve Radio, I will say that what is played is highly dependent of who is on at any given time and what time of day it is. Some of us hardly play music at all... in fact I doubt you will find even a single one of my regular listeners who will tell you they tune in to see what sorts of wonderful music I will play.
The best advice I can give is to say to tune into the shows you like, and tune out of the shows you don't. It's like watching TV; Channel 4 might be your favorite station, but it's not like you'll sit through every show, there are some you won't like given your personal taste, so you find somerthing else to watch until a show you DO like comes on. |

Edited by: Xan Shephard on 10/02/2009 16:40:50 Thanks for the feedback everyone, im sure we all learned a lot about musical tastes today, and hopefully next time I listen to EVE-radio, there might just be something EVE-ish on hehe.
DJ Funkybacon, your the first person I heard on EVE-Radio when you did the BOB-Goonswarm "debate" and I did enjoy it so thanks for that.
Thanks everyone Xan Shephard |

considering that you dont have to donate or pay anything if you dont want to i think you should stfu OP, and never post again.
the fact that EVE-radio has been going for so many years on donations from the playerbase says alot more than your pathetic post, not to mention the dedication of the dj's.

I personally am another New Eden Radio DJ - 0400-0700 Tuesdays - I play a random mix of everything, (I have a preference toward classic rock though) as well as go out into 0.0, meet random people, and get podded. All in all, a good time. I suggest if you're not liking what you hear on other stations, come check us out. |

Edited by: Tractormech on 11/02/2009 02:47:55 Eve Radio has really gone downhill ever since it became part of the whole GNR thing. I don't know anyone who listens to it anymore for anything besides special events. Most of the new djs on that station are "different." There are couple good ones though, but Funkybacon is really the only one that stands out. |

Not going to knock eve-radio as there seems to be plenty of people that enjoy it, but I'm no huge fan of techno either. Jungle maybe, but certainly not house or trance.. and certainly not while playing eve. I need the hard stuff that makes the fundies think of evil things in order to stay awake.

I have a winamp playlist called 'Eve' for when I want to listen to music while playing (I have the Eve jukebox turned off normally). Almost all of the music on the playlist is instrumental, without any singing. There is a good mix classical, trance, OST (Original Sound Track), and techno.
I strongly recommend the following:
Children of Dune Soundtrack (Brian Tyler) Battlestar Galactica Soundtrack Hans Zimmer Soundtracks (Blackhawk Down, The Da Vinci Code, Gladiator, The Last Samurai, The Dark Knight, etc) Planet P Project (Tony Carey) Thomas Newman Soundtracks (Meet Joe Black, The Green Mile, American Beauty, etc) Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon Soundtrack Chronicles of Narnia Soundtrack The Lord of the Rings Trilogy Soundtracks (Howard Shore) Last Of The Mohicans Soundtrack
I'm sure I missed some other great ones, but this is what I know for sure is in my playlist. |

If you don't like chillout, but you like rock music, give me a listen during the 2200-0100 timeslot on New Eden Radio. I promise good music, and a female cd-DJ to slober over. |
