I love ambient/chill/house at times, but also like a little bit of everything. New eden radio has lot of rock and roll/etc lot of good dj's for every taste.

Originally by: LaVista Vista I was recruited as a DJ for EVE-Radio just after the new year. I play mainly heavy music, but there's a few trance-ish tunes I like to play once in a while.
But as it was pointed out, I'm a great fan of a bit harder music. If you tune into my show, chances are that you will be listening to Metallica, System of a Down, Rammstein, Slipknot, Rage Against, Rage Against the Machine, HIM, Linkin Park and other in that genre.
Of course, if there's a tune you want to hear, let the DJ know. It can be a daunting task to play music for 1-2 hours ish and not knowing what people are in the mood for. I'll always play a tune if I have it, as long as it's not Rick astley
I am both hurt and offended that you refused to play my request of Rick Astley!

Edited by: Sheriff Jones on 11/02/2009 08:55:31 Simply put, EVE-radio tries to cater to all musical ears and tastes.
Thing is, most DJs, well, many DJs are british and british are known for their taste in ibiza style hump and jump
I prefer the loonies of EVE-R, also the Junkbox is sometimes priceless when people get really on the "trip down memory ****slide".
In short; EVE-R plays everything, just check the schedule and play your own music otherwise.

There are some good internet stations on itunes or shoutcast that play droning ambient space sorta music, which i think fits eve but people listen to whatever they like. Maybe Ride of the Valkyries while going into battle?

Best part about EVE-radio is the channel and interaction from DJs though.
The music is just a "background" or "filler".

Thanks for the replies everybody except;
Quote: considering that you dont have to donate or pay anything if you dont want to i think you should stfu OP, and never post again. the fact that EVE-radio has been going for so many years on donations from the playerbase says alot more than your pathetic post, not to mention the dedication of the dj's.
I find your aggression towards an OP in a constructive forum that you failed to read/understand pitiful, in the interests of keeping the EVE forums free of "trolling" I will not ever respond to one of your replies/threads so please dont reply here again thanks
Thanks again to everyone else who replied...
I would just like to point out however, I dont dislike EVE radio, this thread was simply about music genre's and its relation to EVE. |

So your not really a DJ in the conventional sense? (as in you dont do your interviews/Tournament coverage for the purpose of EVE-Radio or New Eden radio etc)
Think I misunderstood something here hehe
I'll rephrase; How do you allow the masses to hear your interviews/coverage? |

Im surprised they didnt use the "Aura laughing" one that plays when you get podded, I half expected that to be the last thing she said. I heard somewhere they were taking all of the Aura sound effects out of the game (from the tutorials at least) So that song may prove to be a conservation of times past hehe |

I find it amusing how at every turn, someone from NER or one of their fanbois (or alts as the "!" obviously marks them) is putting down Eve Radio while saying how great they are, but no one from Eve Radio seems to be saying boo to them.
I detect internet bitterness.

Thats because you failed to read this post in its entirety, if you had you would have discovered i had never heard of New Eden Radio before this post was made, also the "!" is because I rarely post on these forums... wonder why? this can also be determined by checking my "last posts of this character"
Also I have made it abundantly clear that I "DO NOT" dislike EVE-Radio this is a thread about musical genre's and there relation in EVE
Nobody from EVE-Radio responds saying "boo" because the DJ's on EVE-Radio are considerably smarter than that and are capable of reading entire threads... |

And why do you think that's what we want either?
This is why I prefer http://ormgas.rainwave.cc. You can vote for what you like, causing them to play more often, request songs from the playlists, and the best part...get a HUGE variety in styles and music types.
Oh, and did I mention the music are all game remixes from www.ocremix.com? Free to DL the original MP3s if you like them enough. Excellent StuffÖ

this is a odd statement in the fact that I just double checked this entire thread, and no where did I see any posts from any members of NER saying that Er is crap ect. Reason for this is because its simply not the case.
Sure there is a bit of rivalry between us, but a little healthy competition is always good for business.
its up to the listeners to decide, all we can do is put the name out there for people to have the choice.
if you interperet out posts as hostility towards ER, then you obviously didn't read this thread at all. Hijak Saturdays 0400 - 0700 New Eden Radio |

I have to say imo that Jovian Riddle is the best jukebox song to express EVE in a musical way. It's eerie, pessimistic, unsettling, sets a mood of 'unknownness', just like EVE is.

It's a radio station. There are radio stations that don't play what you like. It's not an official EVE radio station. There are other stations. Get over it.
I like the station personally. ----------------------------------------------------

Despite a rather large music collection, when I play EVE I mostly have an MP3 of "Red Glowing Dust" on loop. Absolutely love that track and I find it makes for excellent background music. Another favorite is "Glorious Future" which you can also download from the EVE website.

Edited by: Kyra Felann on 12/02/2009 07:02:46 I 100% agree. I don't think modern-day electronic dance music fits Eve well at all. Maybe because most of it doesn't sound futuristic to me; it sounds more 90s. I don't get why so many people think "It's electronic and goes 'BOOM-CHIK-BOOM-CHICK' therefore it's high-tech/futuristic!"
I'd consider proper Eve music to be ambient electronic stuff like most actual in-game music. Or at least some futuristic IDM stuff--something that sounds futuristic and looks forward instead of back to the 90s, 80s, and even 70s (disco).
Not all electronic music is dance music.
EDIT: In case anyone's interested in what I listen to while playing, it ranges from nothing but my computer fan to the in-game music to classical to death/black metal to industrial to J-pop to whatever else I have on my hard drive. I do occasionally listen to Digital Gunfire while playing Eve, as it fits decently well, IMO. If you like darker/harder electronic music, give it a listen. It's dancy, but at least it's dark and cold, like Eve.
