He obviously needs some kind of psychological assesment.
Not understanding that what he did was wrong shows that he doesnt seem fit to live as an everyday citizen, and requires clinical treatment at least imo. |

This is where people like that should be completely stripped of their rights and locked up forever, without any form of rehabilitation. The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the one. |

Australian law unfortunately and fortunately does not allow people to have new laws enacted upon them. If he offends and is convicted again he will go on the register, but till then, no.
As for the books being in the library, the National Library has EVERY book published, and is bound to by Australian law, Irrelevant of the material contained within it, and I think the NSW one is the same.
Personally, I think castration, and checmical labotamisation is the answer. Make them clean streets till they die, and feed them cat food for the rest of their lives. And allow them no civil rights, with the parents allowed to come and beat and burn them at will.
Make some use of them.

Simple solution that suits everyone. Find an institutionalised ex-con who's looking to get back inside. Give him a gun and point him in the right direction. He gets what he wants and does the community a service at the same time. Everyone is happy and one mentally unstable pedo is no longer a threat to kids.
How come nobody has thought of this simple solution yet?

I want a central database of information and financials with the government, a chip in your arm with built in gps, and it also stores all of your information or atleast provides a way to safely access it.
Freedom is less important then security and quality of life. |

Just a bit of referencing here...
1) Source?: A Current Affair (ACA) is the program that this was aired on. They are reknowned for sensational, biased and often fabricated reporting. They have in fact been hauled up in court themselves for multiple breaches of broadcasting laws etc (none of which im familiar enough with to argue about). Id therefore be extremely skeptical about the authenticity of this reporting.
2) If it is true that this guy is a convicted pedo he has served the required punishment by law. Applying laws to cases that have already been processed (retrospective legislation) is a dangerous and immoral route to go down. If you want to argue that the sentence was too lenient or whatever, that is a different story, however.
3) I think it was Oscar Wilde who said that "the definition of a free country is one in which it is safe to be unpopular or hated". I ****ing pity pedophiles and their victims, however, as Oscar himself pointed out, there is no use espousing civil freedoms etc unless you are prepared to give it to the most vile of you citizens once they have been sentenced.
4) As for those who are advocating the removal of his basic human rights this article may interest you. Sure to an extent the context is different (he is a pedo after all) but the message still remains. We are not perfect judges of character, nor should our laws enable us to infringe on the basic human rights of the individual, regardless of our personal feelings on the matter. Castration or sterilisation is NOT going to make a difference here. |

If it would be any consolation he would be treated as a hero in a prison for doing the deed. Pedophiles and child killers are always hated by every member of a prison community and rarely last very long incarcerated so he would just have to have the guards spread the word. Plus given how much of a monster this wack job is a competant lawyer could probably get the sentence reduced or even compleatly mitigated on some crafty insane plea.

Sounds good to me. Just prove that everyone has an insane need to kill when they get near pedophiles.
I remember a Jack Lemon film where the guy was a writer and acted out his events with life sized dolls to get realism. He got married and acted out a fantasy of killing his wife, she saw it on his storyboard and left him and since he was caught on camera throwing the doll into a giant concrete mixer and his wife had disappeared, he was tried for killing his wife. He then convinced the entire jury to press a chalked button in court to make their wives disappear and was aquitted for it. Use that tactic on the jury with a chalked button that makes all pedophiles disappear. They'll either aquit you or have you sent to an assylum for being a nutcase in court. You'll spend maybe a few months in the assylum before proving you have regained your sanity and then freedom.
