Rejoice as your chosen Holiday Gifts arrived in our redeeming system, ready to be claimed by you. From December 22, 2011 on, you will see your lovely gifts eagerly waiting for you in the redeeming system.
Players who chose a neural remap as their gift will receive the remap later during December 22, most probably right after the downtime. The neural remap will then be available to the character with the most skillpoints on the account.
The ammunition, except from crystals, is given out in stacks. Once you claim your gift from the redeeming system, these stacks will be unpacked to your hangars, each ammunition stack contains 100 units of ammunition. The fuel blocks are also given out in stack, each fuel block stack contains 40 fuel blocks.
Player who chose gifts containing ammunition will see in the redeeming system, depending on their gift, 100 stacks of small ammunition (unpacked into 10.000 units of small ammunition once claimed and delivered to their hangar) or 50 stacks of medium ammunition (unpacked into 5.000 units of medium ammo) or 25 stacks of large ammunition (unpacked into 2.500 units of large ammo). Players, who chose the fuel blocks as gift, will see 25 stacks of fuel blocks in the redeeming system (unpacked into 1.000 fuel blocks once claimed and delivered to their hangar).
All other items in the redeeming system will show the exact amount of the items being delivered to your hangar once claimed.
Once you have claimed your items from the redeeming system, the items will instantly appear in your hangar and can be used by you.

So you're removing the remaps which have already been incorrectly assigned to the LOWEST SP character on the account (or possibly the newest character) during DT yes?
You are then reassigning them correctly to the characters with the highest SP?
Can you confirm that please, because if not then we may as well get the petitions going now. |

This is confirmed. The changes to remaps will be issued at some stage during today, most likely after downtime, but may take a few hours to be assigned to all accounts.
Please also note that you may need to log out and log in again for the changes to take place.

Two of my accounts got remaps granted to lowest SP characters, while removing the highest's "normal" remap and giving it a bonus. Already filed a petition in game.

Remaps that you are currently seeing on lower skilled characters on accounts are remaps that you would have already on those characters.
Having double checked with Customer Support, no remaps have yet been issued and this will not happen until after downtime today, Thursday, December 22. During today all players who choose the Neural Remap will have that gift applied to the character with the highest skill points on that account. CCP Navigator -Community Manager |

I have characters that previously had no remaps, that now currently have one. So either your in game interface is broken (which doesn't surprise me), or your Customer Support is misinformed (which also, doesn't surprise me). |

Wrong I'm afraid.
All 4 of my accounts HAVE had remaps applied today and on 3 accounts it has been applied to the lowest SP character. On the fourth account there is only one character.
There's no doubt about this Navigator. I suggest you get a developer to look at this PDQ or your petition queues are going to explode. |

Just curious, can we pick who's gonna get the AUR? Or will it be granted tot eh higher sP character?
(Gonna get a laugh if so, as the 5,500 AUR from EVE is real were alllocated to my other toon in this account, but now this char is the one with higher SP.... and AUR, guess what? can't be transfered... ) |

The aurum gift is an item in game. Two "aurum tokens" worth 1000 aurum each so you can redeem them to whoever you want or sell them for decent isk.

I can see something getting REALLY messed up here (not that it's messed up already). Already filed a petition before this topic was made, and am not going to remove it unless I see the number of bonus remaps on this character change from 1 to 2 and my alt character NOT change from 1 to 0.
Also, I think those who didn't choose a gift should get the bonus remap by default instead of nothing at all. It's not fair for people on vacation, unable to access the internet, or playing other games as well as EVE Online and just logging in "casually" to update training queues to not be rewarded with something. Everything done by CCP recently has been to make the "bittervets" happier and those who left after Incarna want to come back, but I can see people leaving again for good over getting a figurative "lump of coal" as their gift. |

This is also a communication fail. The WEB Page and the DEVs told about AURUM, not about an Item that can be transferred. I think the 2000 Aurum given to a character isn't the same value as the currently used "Aurum tokens".
It's also seen on the Aurum token price:
Currently in ISK the best gift item is the Aurum token which is worth more than 200m ISK, while all other item (except the neural remap that doesn't have an exact value in ISK) worth 30-60m ISK. |

When new remap code was added earlier this week, all characters who had never used any remaps effectively got 1 new bonus remap which is NOT christmas gift remap.

Not sure if the remap bug should be posted here or in the other thread but either way this is the problem:
New characters have 2 remaps. If you used 1 remap but not the other you would have remap available "NOW". However the bonus remap sets your next available remap to 1 year from the date of the first remap.
It's basically the same as if I hadn't received a gift remap. |

If they use one remap they still have 2 bonus remaps and yearly counter will starts from 0. If they get christmas gift, they will have 3 bonus remaps.
If new character used that one remap before new remap-code was added this week, they might have different amount of bonus remaps available. Still christmas gift should allways add 1 bonus remap WITHOUT affecting yearly counter. |

I did not do a remap between yesterday and today.
Today I have "Next remap available 05.07.2012" and "Bonus Remaps Available: 1"
I filed a petition - not sure whether it should be petition or bug report but I'm sure they'll let me know. |

Can we get official confirmation whether or not the remaps have actually been given out? I see some people saying they have gotten them 1) on their highest sp character 2) on their lowest sp character 3) haven't gotten them. I myself am in the 3) choice on 2 accounts (even checked alts with no training to see if maybe something went wrong) |

Malaire you are right. Thinking about it, it does seem like the new system has been applied, my old remap has just been named as a Bonus one, and the new gift remap has not been applied to the account. I'd better check the other accounts maybe it went to a different character as one poster said - which would SUCK. |

Probably 'Reactivation Offers' but as long as it is in the billing queue then that is the main thing.

The reason for this to happen is a result of the change from the old remapping mechanics and the new UI that is now active.
Previously, when you only had one free remap, it would not list this one free remap at all and just display the "Remap" button with the "Next Remap: Now" text, despite a timer actually going in the background (or not, which didn't matter at that point as the remap would be used up either way before we changed that).
So in the end: you always had that free remap and had not used it, it just became visible only due to the changes that have been made in Crucible 1.0.3 GM Karidor | Senior Game Master |

I got my remaps, 1 petition in for 1 account where the highest SP character is a hauler alt 'finished' training. This was brilliantly done, and despite the people jumping the gun on the 'retroactive' bonus remaps, fairly well implemented.

Looks like my bonus remap got applied to the youngest character on this account, not the most or least SP ... And on the character that I probably wont train in the next year...
Obvoiously the DEVs over did the beer, weed & pizza after fixing a few bugs this week

I agree with him. They should always be clear on what they are going to give out. Aurum has always been no trade. Even when they were introducing they stated it was going to be no trade until some arbitrary point in the future.
So the gift wasn't regular Aurum. This gift was worth far more then the others, but it wasn't described as *magical* tradable Aurum. I wouldn't have picked it because I hate the whole concept of the NEX store. But I bet alot of people would have picked it up just to sell it. |

I'm pretty sure there will be some kind of time limit on claiming them, my guess would be at least until 2012-01-01 00:00 UTC. Maybe a GM can clarify this as I just pulled that out of my ... exhaust thruster port.

That's 25 Stacks of 40 for the Fuel Blocks, and 25 stacks of 100 for Ammo. They noted this in another thread I saw somewhere. |

I got both of the Genolution implants that were automatically put into the redeem system but this is the first time I, too, am hearing about this. I had NO idea there was anything else to redeem in the Account Management section because, as stated by others, I don't have the time to be here that often, much less learn there was a time limit. It's not even Christmas until the 25th so it seems silly to have cut off the gifts already.
I love EVE to death, I really do, but i'm equally enthralled by my consoles, OTHER PC games and my life outside of videogames. I haven't been on the EVE site itself for a while, much less in the Account Management page, but I HAVE been in-game. Sending a mail to my character would have been a much more effective way of letting people now.
Having said that, however, I don't get why this has even occured. This has never been the way things were given out before so why has that changed? |

There's a great menu in the game for redeeming gifts and the like in game and it's worked just fine the entire time it's been there.
Then suddenly the rules are changed and we get told we had to do it another way this time and by the time the mistake has comes to light it's too late to correct.
I think I'm probably more annoyed now than when I lost my faction gear fitted Thanatos + pod. This sucks so very badly. |

People missing out is one thing but there should not be this many people feeling uninformed.
Yes, lots of people knew about it and successfully claimed it but there are too many people, it seems, who were screwed out of being informed.
My banner didn't show up because of a ''New client Build is available'' menu that cannot be manipulated. When OK'ing that it restarts the client and, due to whatever circumstances i was put in, was never shown to me again.
My E-mail address never got an E-mail from EVE or CCP in general explaining that this was a thing. Yes i have checked my spam and trash folders. The only stuff in there is in regards to a Petition I filed a short while ago about some technical issues.
As I said before, the only reason I am irritated is because I missed out on my warning due to a client update, my E-mail wasn't contacted for whatever reason AND they changed the way the gifts are handed out without an announcement.
Had there been a post a month ago saying Redeemable items would be selected in a new way come Christmas, i'd suck it up as a miss. No amount of successful redemptions by people can change the fact that lots of us were gimped out of our warnings and heads-ups.
I don't necessarily even want a chance at the gifts, I can happily go without, I'm just irritated that this seems to be have been handle clunkily and rather hush-hush. I can handle that the gifts were given out differently, i just would loved to have known they would be WELL in advance of the actual deal.
Either way, your comment ''take some responsibility'' kinda rings hollow. It's a christmas gift in a videogame of all things. It's not about responsibility, it's about wishing I had been able to get a gift from CCP, whom I do love, without feeling like I was uninformed of it or limited for time.
It's like getting to be 12 years old and learning that your parents never told you about Christmas, they just got your sibling gifts and cards so you 'should have known'. |

the bonus remap is due to a change in the remap system, it is NOT YOUR GIFT! so don't think you got something, you got what everyone got by default (and what every new account will get in the future)

It doesn't matter if I could have eked out a slightly greater gain some other way. I appreciate the free gifts, and I think that there's a bunch of whining going on by people who feel entitlement...
I WOULD like to know when the Bonus Remap expires if ever.
BTW, this is just a game. If your life sucks so much that you have to cry because you didn't get something for free, your problem is in RL and not the fault of CCP.

People didn't forget. Some of us just weren't aware to begin with. I still never got an E-mail but then again I don't get the EVE Newsletter at all so maybe that's why.
My only issue here, at the end of the day, is that it doesn't matter if other players feel we have a right to complain or not. Fact is, people are complaining. Had the gifts just been made redeemable, as they always have been, then literally NONE of these issues would be present. There would be no newsletter missing, banner-defying client updates and no account management misses. It could have just gone through as the gifts always have done and CCP would be seeing none of these complaints, no matter how minor they may be.
THAT'S why i'm irritated. Change for the sake of change and it's left some people feeling bitter. And not even in the usual EVE-style ''haha, we dicked you!'' kinda way but in more of a general ''We literally had NO clue we were missing out to even choose to ignore it if we wanted to'' kinda way. |

it is not coincidence, CCP posted news about redeeming items on main page today, choosing gift hardly was so important thing that is should have posted on front page news.
CCP fails again on their communication with players, they will never learn anything no matter how many mails they send to prove they are changed.
Even when they give gift they make numerous amount of unhappy customers.

As a long time subscriber to EVE, I have to say that CCP did a real disservice to the customer with this gift. I have several accounts and I got the implants that were shown in the regular "Redeem Items" function. I did not however get any additional gifts on any accounts because I did not go into the Account Management page, nor was I aware of that part until AFTER the time had expired.
Why suddenly a new mechanism for redeeming gifts? And why in the Account Management page?
I pay for my accounts a year at a time and have no reason to go into the Account Management page. Guess thats what one gets for being a long term subscriber.
Maybe CCP should train up some communication skills and notify the customers in a more uniform manner other than blogs and message board posts. Also, using the existing "Redeem Items" functionality might make sense rather than creating another more confusing process.

I read that you had to log into the account screen, so I did it when I claimed the 2nd free implant, chose what I wanted after a couple of days and got them yesterday.
If you don't keep an eye on the games website, news, forums, announcements, then who's to blame? are CCP really going to have to email/evemail everyone who hasn't made a choice, and even then, if you don't log in, or use some spam email address for CCP, then you're not going to get it anyway.
Maybe they should have done it differently, but that would require more work, and since they're still fixing crucible, I think the game warrants more dev/programmer time than re-writing the redeem gifts section so you can only choose 1 item, bearing in mind that people may still have the CA-2 implant on the redeem system if they've not logged in for a couple of weeks, so they'd then have to code it so you can select the CA-2 and then any ONE of the other gifts.
CCP are notorious for poor communication, so why is this a surprise to people, the only way you find things out in eve is to scour the website.
I'm narked that they didn't make it clear that the aurum was in voucher form which could have been sold, giving a greater isk value than the +3's I chose, but that's life, after all, it's a FREE GIFT, not something you've paid for.
Basically if you want to keep up to date with the game, then use a little initiative, if you see a splash box on your client about a free gift, and you can't read it cos of the client update box, maybe look around the eve-o website to try see what it's about.

I didn't get a chance to chose a gift, because I was busy with real life stuff for the past two weeks, I got on in a rush to tick over the skill que one night before going back to work. if there was any notification about the gifts then i missed it cause this time of the year is really busy for me. since last week i put month long skills to train on my accounts cause i know i wouldn't have the time until after christmas. but last night when i got home from work i just clicked on my eve tab on the browser and i saw "Christmas gifts are now in the redeeming system." and i was like WTF... they gave out free gifts and i wasn't aware? but i'm not making it an issue or "crying" over it. i just think that if there were gift for all of eve's loyal players then it should be for all. and atleast the expiry date for redeeming the gift should've been late this year (after christmas) to give everyone a fair chance. but as i said it isn't an issue with me |

Heh. I got a GM that did not know that 1 regular and 2 bonus remaps on new characters is now "normal" on new'ish characters and does not mean that the gift has been moved there. Awaiting feedback on my explanation of the mechanic....

I don't see the point of getting all worked up about the way the Xmas gifts were handled. They were free for crying out loud. Of course, I don't see why a company would offer gifts to it's customers, without a sensible plan for advertising and distributing them.
Offering a selection to choose from was brilliant, though I suspect it was more to do market research, or a stealth polling scheme. I guess it doesn't matter why CCP did it in the first place. probably a last minute goodwill gesture after all.
For what it's worth, I checked out the gift selection several times this week, and didn't notice the deadline until I went to make my selection today. I filed a petition, but I won't cry if I don't get anything. Being able to play this game is gift enough for me. |

Well, I for one saw it 4 days ago. And I watch news actively. If there's one thing that playing and following MMORPGs thaught me is that MMORPG users are here to play the game, not to read the news.
Apparently CCP didn't learn that lesson yet. Leaving it open for a while longer was the right course of action here. Anyone that argues against it is just playing devil's advocate for the sake of playing it, I hope.
"hey, it's christmas for you only if you read the news!" simply isn't good business or good marketing, and CCP isn't exactly in the best condition to afford making more users unhappy for no reason at all.
I'm quite sure not many (if any) will quit over this, but it is generating negativity that could and should easily be predicted and avoided and can hopefully still be amended. |

Damn, log in everyday to find patches blocking my view, when I finally see it its on the last day 4 hours after it closed.
tbh the only day I saw any information about were to find the gift options was on the very same day it ended, I log in to choose the gift only to be told the options were closed.
Next time ccp try no to post your messages at the log in screen at the same time as the patches. It makes it impossible to read the message.

Eve is a very sophisticated game with a sophisticated user base and while I think most of them are technically brilliant, someone in Reykjevik needs to take a marketing class.
To give a gift to your userbase in such a way that a lot of people miss it, is going to leave a lot of people with a bad feeling and makes the company look like idiots ... IMHO.

There was a login message to remember it. (You know the box that is sometimes there to remember you about downtimes etc.) How so many people managed to not get the message is beyond me. I guess some people just play while they should be sleeping...
You mean that tiny easily missed box? That would be a horrible place to inform anyone of anything important.
CCP could have done a thousand things different with this and all half assed that would have been better then what they actually did.
Heck even a POP up that you had to read and scroll before you could close it out would have been better then what they did do.

I don't recall reading a time limit on the offer. It said something along the lines of, 'from December 22nd on' so I assumed it would include Christmas Eve. My mistake for assuming that logic would be applied I suppose. |

Here I am, 3 weeks out of the game due to taking care of a sick family member out of town. Had heard a few references to the holiday gift while reading through the forums during my absence. Had even been keeping tabs on my ingame mail through evegate to keep in touch with corp members.
I log in today to find that I apparently completely missed the opportunity to get a holiday gift. And I only discover this after going through the effort of researching it on the forums to try and figure out how to pick an item.
Pretty lame that you didn't do anything to inform me that there was some sort of hoop to jump through this year. Evemail is the first and primary means of communication in the game and you chose not to use it? You work in mysterious ways CCP... Mysterious, as in WTF?
You didn't even think to have a default gift for those who didn't make a choice? Double fail. |

My experience of this is:
Indeed, Sooooo many patch's recently that unless you logged in hourly it was easy to miss whatever I missed as well. All I saw was the one about claim your gift from the 22nd. From in my books means after and including the aforementioned period of measurement that is referenced after the from; Which is correct beyond that aspect that it in no way detailed how to pick such gift of choice and also was completely lacking in any reference to some popup that apparently was there but like most was applying a automatic client update and had NFI it was ever there in the first place. Given how the two implants were handed out it does seem a bit of utter SNAFU on CCP's part and could of been handeled alot better, especialy given HOW many updates recently. CCP in competition with Valves TeamFortress2 to see how many updates they can push in a week as I think they may actualy be winning currently.

Step 1 (and only) - I was too busy with RL work to find the time to look for something that i did not know was there. ;)
You are correct in that people must take some responsibility for missing it, but the question still exists, why did CCP choose to time limit this offer so tightly, when all previous gifts have had a far longer claim window? Surely, they should have predicted that a significant number of their loyal player base would miss the offer and be unhappy about it. It just looks like a bit of an unnecessary own-goal to me.

It was so smooth that i regret that i ever said any negative about CCP on this matter.

If your reason is you were too busy to log in for a month (the first notice went out at the end of November) how is that CCP's fault.
By the way, in one of the other games that I play the announcement of their Holiday Special had a whopping 2 day notice, and a window of 5 days. The only announcement was on their log in screen and web site.

I read the holiday gift page and am now sure I was never presented an option to select a gift. There was obviously a bug. I know I was unable to select the implant gift until I logged in, because I hadn't logged in to claim the other implant from a couple weeks earlier. It kept letting me redeem the implant gift but the option never disappeared. I don't know if it is all related or this is just a specific issue for me.
No idea were said option was and I logged in daily, though it has been pointed out that this was a once only displayed banner login item and with the number of patch's recieved recently that it was very possible that you missed the banner display due to patch's popping up. Not sure of the exact date/time this banner appeared initialy for logins and when the last patch was but it certianly clashed for more than CCP would of liked so drop a petition to them about it. |

You know, I have 2 accounts, much like a good number of players do, and I knew nothing about this. I have spent my time working my tail off in this **** poor economy and again like others I didn't see anything about holiday gifts. I didn't look as I figured it would be as it has been in the past.

But instead you poorly convey to the public and screw people like myself not only out of the 2nd implant to a set that will never be given out again, but the christmas gifts that ARE FUNCTIONAL.
This isnt something like a snowball launcher that we just don't use. You gave away usable items that serve a purpose. And you did a crap job of advertising it.
Why is there a deadline on picking gifts half a week before anyhow? I spent a good time shopping for other people about the same time you thought I should be on EVE shopping for myself.
Really. Either give us all the same thing or remove the "Sorry but you missed our poorly advertised gifts for being a loyal customer" and just let us pick our gift.
I mean seriously.. These are supposedly "Merry Christmas" / "Thank you" gifts. What the hell kind of thanks for subscribing is offering presents and then just sticking your tongue out at the people you offered them too?
I love you guys at CCP, but this is just common sense and being a good person. You miss christmas you send it after, don't say to people sorry I couldnt make it so Im returning your junk. |

I'll just add my voice to those complaining about the bad way these 'gifts' were managed.
I also didn't see any message telling how to select the gifts, but as has been said already, these were probably covered by the number of updates. As I also work away from home, I also don't have time to peruse the forums and look for this kind of stuff.
I've been playing since just out of beta, and this is another 'Up Yours, Suckers' from CCP that I can add to my collection. |

For future reference, if you guys decide to do bonus remaps again at some point in the future, it'd be nice if the character in question recieved a notifiication mail from CCP that stated that a bonus remap was applied, and that 'x' remaps are now available
it can be a bit confusing to remember how many remaps you had to make sure stuff was applied correctly. |

Thank you for the comments so far in this thread.
- The deadline for redeeming the CA-1 implant was at 23:59 on the 5th of December
- The deadline for redeeming the CA-2 implant was at 23:59 on the 21st of December
- The deadline for choosing a gift was at 23:59 on the 21st of December.
- The Neural Remap gift was scripted to be given out at 14:00 on the 22nd of December. It was automatically applied to the highest skill point character on the account.
- Other gifts chosen were made available through the redeeming system at 00:00 on the 22nd.
We are aware of a large number of players that were fully eligible for the holiday gifts but either never chose a gift or did not redeem them in time. The implants were automatically added to your account's redeeming system, but were set to expire after a set date. The Choose A Gift program was facilitated through the Account Management pages on the EVE Online website.
The current situation is not the way we would have wanted it to be as the gifts are supposed to be something nice and fun for the holidays and not a tool of discord. This may have happened due to the time set for the deadlines, communication could perhaps have been improved or any other number of things. But we do know that less people received their holiday gift than should have. We are looking into possibilities to amend this in some manner. We'll be updating with further news later in the week.
In the meantime, if you missed out on the holiday gifts for any reason then please send us a petition. We are trying to be as accommodating as we can over the holidays in regards to the holiday gifts.
- Submit the petition to the Billing category under Reactivation Offers.
- If you have more than one account affected, list all of them in a single petition.
- If you wish for the Neural Remap, list the character to receive them on each account claiming that option.
Please let your friends, corpmates and alliance buddies know that we are helping with this if they missed out!

Fuel blocks was 1000units per type as I recall, but I just got 25 per type. :( I'm hoping its an honest mistake on the GMs part, otherwise it's a clear message that latecomers get 'something' and we should just accept the shortchanging. Which I guess I can get over. But in which case my gift choice would have been different... >_< |

This is perhaps something that would need to be clarified.
Each "unit" in the redeeming system is 40 fuel blocks. 25 units equals 1000 fuel blocks.

I shall refuse to petition for X-mas goodies for some reasons...
I got the CA-1 implant, redeeming it out of a list of one possible choices I got the CA-2 implant, redeeming it out of a list of one possible choices
Every time I logged in in Dec the log-in screen was obscured by a nice update notification, either blocking the banners or overlaying a very nice black background since the crucible anima isnt loading (in time)
I was on the account management page during the time for choosing the gifts but never saw any indication about it (probably a good thing I canceled the subscription)
And then you learn you can (or better could) choose 1 gift out of 24 using the Account Management?? Let me guess: after login you can redeem it out of a list of 1.....like the CA-implants above?
Sounds a bit like the excuse for the new sovereign system: its not done with Towers because getting fuel in deep 0.0 is too hard.....with the following expansion to add Planetary Interaction to build your own fuel in deep 0.0

Is there any way to see that accounts redeemed what?
I know I missed at least one of the implant gifts on at least one of my accounts, but I have no idea which ones. It would save me having to petition each on each account to see if I am eligable for anything in addition to what I did get around to redeeming. |
