I'm not sure what level mission that is. So far my experience is with level 1 and 2 missions. In level 1 missions my strat was simply to keep enough range to avoid getting hit at all. This is about 20 km. I trained and equipped my ship accordingly...

It's also good to know shuttles are disposable ships. You can fly any race shuttle without any special skill too. So buy whichever is cheaper, go to your destination and then sell or reprocess it and go your merry way. Always buy the cheapest :)
