I've never actually used 1200's on level 4's so I can't tell you if they're better, all that I can say is that my 1400's perform well enough for me and proximity is never an issue if you have and AB. If you know the mission is going to be up close...

Used to do all my ratting in 0.0 in a Typhoon, problem is align time when a red shows up in system. Now I use a Hurricane, does plenty 'o DPS, tanks well, aligns faster and not so much to lose.
