It also gives the option to limit access to certain structures based on roles. For example, you would like to give a Caretaker access to fueling the Control tower and emptying the silos but at the same time restrict all his access to the Capital Ship Assembly Array where you have a mothership building. Why does this not work ccp!! WHY??!! ok i'm very sulky. False advertising? o.O

That when you got podded you had "ghost" implants keeping your training speed up. So you could live in 0.0 without gimping your learning. Bit late to find out now...

My biggest ones:
-Don't join a 0.0 corp when you're < 1 month into the game and expect to actually be able to do anything in 0.0 - other than watch the vets kill everything and be bored out of your mind.
-Don't spend all of your money on 1 ship, leaving 1 mil to insure and fit it. When you go boom (and oh, you will eventually) you won't have enough money to get that same set up, let alone that ship.
-Salvaging and selling everything in a market hub.

Rats can warp scramble http://www.darkcadre.net/killboard/?a=kill_detail&kll_id=243 I was all happy about finding that exploration site, I had to check it out. Then I see the message that I'm being Warp scrambled, with 10 frig rats on me. Ensue running away in a straight line (it's deadspace, so the MWD doesn't work) while asking for help in alliance. When help arrives, I have to turn around and approach him. Stupid me uses the "Approach button," so I pretty much stop when I reach him. By the time I realize my mistake, I try to run away again but it's too late.

Don't advance too fast... it kinda sank in after a month or two, but let me tell you... grinding level 1's to get an Enyo at then 20ish mill at a rate of around 50-100k per mission only to lose it shortly after. Repeat that and it racks up. Yeah, I could have made easily 100-150 mill in the amount of isk I'd wasted on T2 friggies then.
Back then I was totally focused on frigate specializing(namely AF's in 06), I should have on the other hand gone for T1 cruisers and worked on improving them and BC, save me a lot of work. Or even T1 frigs with proper fits.

I'll disagree, I joined a 0.0 corp 1 week in, and since 2 weeks old have spent 99% of my time in 0.0. Plenty to do

If you fly a large, missile spewing Battleship..... drones are your best friend.
I have returned from 2 years out of the game and have 13mill SP and never even though about drones.
In one day I have trained to level 3 drones and level 2 scout drone. I can now launch 3 drones that will remove those annoying small fighters that my BS is incapable of hitting.
Cost is minimal against the cost of the missles that fail to hit them!

1) Never let anyone tell you what to fly, fly what you like.
2) If you find a corp whose members you can trust and get along with, stay with them, even if they don't PvP/Carebear as much as you'd like.
3) You can contribute, and have a blast, in 0.0 with 8 million SP's.
4) EFT and Eve Mon are invaluable tools, but make sure you know their limitations.
5) Your enjoyment of the game will be greatly enhanced if you spend most of your time not playing it and enjoying RL.

Underpaid work sucks.
Eve just taught me the other day, I was honestly quite surprised. I was thinking "Oh boy, I just have to show up for 8 hours a day and I get 30 bucks!" but it turns out this stupid brain container of mine needs more than half an hour of sleep every night.

I hope you get trolled in your topic as much as you troll others but its a reasonable question.
10 most poignant to me I suppose;
1. Research agents = Free isk
2. Acceleration gates don't work when scrambled (But stargates do)
3. Enabling ship types in overview lets you know straightaway whether the ship that jumped in is worth engaging rather than wrestling with the camera for a visual and any induced lag it recieves.
4. Don't get too attached to anything because CCP change practically everything every single 5 minutes.
5. There are a lot of **** corps out there and a lot of users, in the end you'll probably never find happiness in a group unless you have some pretty dedicated patience in working your way into their inner circle and feeling part of the group.
6. Empire pvp sucks, no smartbombs, lots of ecm drones, tons of alts.
7. No matter how much you want to sell a character off at a time you always start to want him back a little when they're gone, especially when everyone else whines and they introduce attribute remapping in the end anyway.
8. CCP as a whole are full of ****, watered down by a handful of very brilliant hardworking game designers.
9. The eve forums will permantentely alter you into a nitpicking whiner on everything that has a great urge to post one liners and meme's.
10. I wish I knew I wouldn't be able to think of 10 things before I said I would.
if you disagree with me then you should probably post a response and stop reading my signature. |

Edited by: tla s''hpyt on 27/04/2009 14:21:02 if your going to alt tab out to watch p*** turn on your shield booster/Armour hardener first.
Some fc's are really crap (like flying our fleet through an enemy camp and not stopping when they scram a bunch of us).
Never trust anyone, ever. especially not RA or goons
never place all your isk in one venture.
Just because you can be an bastard doesn't mean you should, being friendly will almost always get you a better result (unless your dealing with goons).
learn to shut up sit at the back and listen till you are really, really sure you know what's going on.
EFT is to be used as a calculator not a designer or a way to win arguments.
If you are going to choose a nice quiet low sec system to start your noobish mining days in don't choose a system where a capital builder lives, especially someone who builds capitals for your enemies. (nooby mining cruiser vs moros is not pretty).

In Eve, never underestimate your own stupidity and never count your chickens...ever:
1. Jump into a 0.0 gate camp full of dastardly hostiles. 2. Set the autopilot so you can burn back to the gate and immediately jump, thus outwitting those dastardly hostiles. 3. Still get blown up in your failed attempt to outwit those dastardly hostiles. 4. Feel all smug and relieved as you save your pod by spamming warp to random celestial, while mentioning in local on how a 0.0 gate camp without a bubble is fail. 5. Realise too late that the safe celestial object was only a brief encounter (as well as your smugness) and the auto pilot has warped you straight back to the same gate camp + 1 newly deployed bubble
