that after spending billions of isk, setting up an entire alliance and a bunch of towers for your alliance to work out of, that no one can use them, and that it doesn't say that anywhere, in fact says that you can set accesses to structures in POS for your alliance, but it's a lie. And CCP won't answer your petition.

1) NPC/Starter corporations only reflect 1% (or less, in my opinion) of the fun you can have in EVE Online.
2) Directional Scanner. Learn to use it!
3) Advanced Spaceship Command. This skills does, as reflected by the description, only work on ships that need this skill. Won't help your Interceptor.
4) Signature Analysis 5, although not doing damage per say, might win you the fight.
5) Faction gear/implants can be expensive. Especially if you have no clue how to fly the ship in the first case. I'll sum it up: I pilot is never his/her wallet, but his/her brain.

The Drone shortcut keys haven't been there all the time, IIRC. I think they first appeared in late 2007/early 2008. That said, I use F9 for Drone = Engage, and F12 for Drone = Return.
A couple of tips I've learned that I haven't seen mentioned yet:
# Don't rely on anyone else than yourself, even if you do trust them. They may not be around forever to help you. Learn (and train) to be self-sufficient, even if you intend to join a big corp.
# Unfortunately, you'll have to read the EvE forums to have an inkling of an idea what's going on in EvE. You'll need a good bullcrap detector while doing so, though. I've saved alot of ISK by simply reading the forums about certain subjects. |

Access from ccp's own website...
"The access tab allows you to set custom access settings for people in your corporation or alliance. This enables corporations to give the ability to add fuel, or maintain a single starbase to someone without giving them the ability to do the same for all starbases owned by your corporation. It also gives the option to limit access to certain structures based on roles. For example, you would like to give a Caretaker access to fueling the Control tower and emptying the silos but at the same time restrict all his access to the Capital Ship Assembly Array where you have a mothership building. "
Why does this not work ccp!! WHY??!! ok i'm very sulky. False advertising? o.O

Don't leave your fully fit Geddon at the new alliance POS when you're in an alliance with over 200 members. Someone will steal it.
Never put anything in corporate hangers or other shared containers unless you are mentally prepared to give it away completely, cause it will be taken by someone else.

- Don't get hung up on racing to get the biggest ship you can. Get your support skills up (shields, cap, armor skills) and learn how to fly the smaller ships really well. Then as you get into large vessels, you'll find you have the skill sets to take the best advantage of them.
- Once you start flying battlecruisers and up, fit a damage control.
- EVE is a game of risk management. Be paranoid. Plan for the worst. Never have all of your assets in on place and pin all of your hopes on one dream. Do this, and you'll never go down.
- Have fun!

1. Remember to change out of your salvage ship before starting your next mission 2. Don't smack talk bigger boys 3. (My personal favourite) No, you don't need to dock to get ammo everytime you run out (1 week)

Edited by: Liz Laser on 16/04/2009 19:15:09 As others have pointed out... LowSec and 0.0 are a lot emptier and a lot safer than you've been led to believe.
Also, don't spend 11 days researching a corp/allliance. You are still going to be surprised by the reality of it. Their Marketing/Recruiting always beats your due diligence, because unlike real world due diligence you don't get to waltz through the corporation and get unbiased answers. Your research or due diligence doesn't really start until you're a member. Hell, just join up, if you're not having fun, just leave.

I've got 3 million SP on my main (Caldari) and I think Missles are fun. You can make anything work in pvp as long as you know what you're doing.

The Capital Navigation Window (shortcut available) allows you to see Jumps within Range and used fuel, as well as distance. Then Apocrypha 1.0 comes and destroys that, only allowing you to see Startbase Beacons.
Warp Core Stabilizers make the Honor Tank look good.
Training up Advanced Drone Interfacing for the extra drones. Enter RMR: Carriers only skill.
TRAIN TRADE SKILLS. They let you buy and sell things at a distance. Train at least Trade, Retail, Marketing, Contracting and if you like, Broker Relations and Accounting.
Max out your fitting skills asap, when possible. Train Electronics, Engineering and Advanced Weapon Upgrades all to 5.

1. Learn how turret tracking works. 2. Buy orders enable you to make things stupid cheap. 3. Don't be afraid of Singularity. 4. Use EFT/EveMon liberally. 5. Ask for advice wherever you go, whatever you do, whatever problem you're having. 6. Battleclinic.com is a good starting point for ship fits. 7. The only way to know if fits are as good in reality as on paper is to test them. 8. evegeek.com 9. 0.0 is so much more fun than empire. 10. It's been said before, but when I found a reliable, repeatable source of income, my EVE experienced changed completely. Whatever you do, find something you can tolerate to make money and don't be afraid to blow all your profits on something fun.

EFT and EVEMon are insanely useful when used in moderation with the knowledge they are not perfect.
Don't buy a set of named implants then fall asleep on your keyboard while in space when in a facwar corp
Don't buy a 2nd set of named implants then fall asleep again on your keyboard when you're in space again.
