Repackaging items lets you stack them, which is handy if your hangar is as messy as mine. Other than that, I think the only effect is that it resets the "autorepeat" setting on weapons and afterburners and such. Not a big deal.

Ah, perhaps I wasn't clear enough... I didn't mean the ship motion (tho' that is a bit annoying), I meant the motion of the space background. Even when sitting perfectly still it continues to move.

Well not really, but I want to know if there's a way to turn off the rocking/floating motion in space. It's kind of annoying, and it looks bad on an LCD monitor with no AA.
