I dont think i've ever seen a battleship in a l3 mission. well except for the ones you have to warp to for your bookmark to get to the next level, but they werent hostile. Have l3's changed that much?

You know, I dont think i've ever tested it, but does the auto-lockers +2 targets locked when active add +2 to the ship or +2 to the skills. hrmmmm gotta try that out.
