Iskur is arguably the best. Sweet slot layout, 5 light drones. It's awesome for soloing, and if you fit a tracking disruptor on it, it can be a real threat to bigger ships as well, up to and in some cases including battlecruisers.

Seeing as you have just started out, I would suggest an Incursus before going to the Rifter. It's less skill intensive, and still a nasty combat ship. I love my Incursus.
