Edited by: Istvaan Shogaatsu on 11/08/2004 00:57:47 After the most recent patch, any time I want to change ammunition on my guns, I have to do so by clicking on a little sub-folder and then selecting the ammo type. This adds an extra click to every gun I want to reload. Last thing anyone in combat wants is to have to click on more things.
My first recommendation would be to remove that god-awful subwindow, and restore the old expanded reloading menu. Less clicks = sex0.
My second recommendation would be to introduce a "load all guns of same type" option - simply rightclick on one of your guns, then rightclick on the ammo type you wish to load - which then opens a little submenu with the option "load all guns of same type". Let's say I have 7 mega pulse lasers loaded with 7 infrared crystals, and I want to swap from infrared to ultraviolet. I rightclick one mega pulse, select UV crystal, then go to "load all guns" and all mega pulse lasers on my battleship are loaded with the 7 UV crystals in my cargo. Well, look at that! I've just saved myself about 14 mouseclicks thanks to genius coding and inspired design on the part of TomB and the devs.
This would of course only work for guns of a type. So if you have 3 mega beams and 4 mega pulses, let's say - hitting "load all guns of type" on the mega pulses will only swap crystals on the mega pulses. Guess you could have a "load all guns" option too, that just crams the ammo into any applicable weapon regardless of specific type.

PLEASE remove the submenu!
I hate it for warping to bm's and such, why make it for loading ammo. It can mean the differance between life and death in a close battle.

I agree, take it out
If you want to add in somethign useful, add a change all ammo type function that would change all the ammo in all the guns at the same time. ................. |

As i also said on a thread in the Patch Review forum:
If this was meant to tidy up big menu's.. CCP, could you please make it an option that can be turned on or off? This is really tedious on a laser setup, not to mention bad for RSI :)

Indeed, the added submenu is more of a hinderance than a solution, last night i tried to quickly switch from cruise to FoF's and it took twice as long = a nearly dead skrittak, which obviously i find to be in bad taste :P Please have this corrected ASAP.

Great, so basicly what u mean is that i should not be able to give my vote about this matter? how would we then know how many that wants to remove the option?
And here is my reason, when i jump into battle with drones and sutch, my fps is close to 1, go figure the rest out yourself.......
I thought new features in the patches was all about making ppl happy, this patch just didnt. the only upside was that we didnt have a crash.
could we at least get an response from a GM???

Yes, exactly, this is a forum for discussion and for constructive feedback, not for "voting". And I can assure you that constructive, well-thought and polite feedback has a much greater chance of getting attention by CCP than just spamming the forum with "this sux" postings.
If you feel that you need to discuss this any further, please send a mail to [email protected]

Problem is, it's difficult to give constructive criticism about a feature that you a) never asked for, b) don't want, and c) really dislike.
Adding clicks to the GUI is a bad, bad idea. The objective should be to lessen the number of necessary actions, not increase it.

To sum up the previous posts: - you guys don't like the change - more clicking = bad - more clicking in a potentially laggy situation = very bad - reloading several guns at once = cool
This is all very well, and it has now been said. If you simply agree with the above, there is no need for you to post. Please post only if you disagree, or have anything new to add.
And please do not discuss forum moderation in here. If you think what I'm doing is wrong, you can reach my boss at [email protected]

i agree, more clicks = bad, especially because for people like me, who have a hard time moving thier mouse exactly while trying to hurredly reload a gun with ammo. probly a few hundred times today ive clicked on the load new ammo, then moved my mouse towards the ammo that i want, which would be a bit up the list then the list instantly closes and all that work was for nothing, this is because you have to move your pointer directly left first till its on the submenu, crossing over diagonally doesnt work :( I cant even begin to describe the fustration ive experienced just because of that alone!
yes load all guns at one click = awesome
also maybe a hotkey :)
one person i complained to today said they liked the new change because they sometimes used to click on the put offline button by accident. might i suggest a confirmation submenu for the put offline, and maybe even the put online buttons? just like how eject, self destruct is for a ship. i dont think people use these options very often so speed wouldnt be an issue for the put offline/put offline commands.

Edited by: VortiK on 11/08/2004 11:25:58 I agree with the proposal of "reload all same turrets with that ammo", but we could expand the idea. A "reload all turret" option that just reload the turrets/launchers, which are empty or not, with the last ammo they were loaded with, if this ammo is in the cargohold of course.
I think it could switch the x8 "rightclick->reload" by a single "rightclick->reload all" with all the benefits mentionned before :)

I have the feeling it is not as simple as "just reloading all with one click". We all know how reloading all your turrets in rapid succession sometimes makes you wait for the previous turret to split the pile of ammo needed with the amount it needs to fill itself up. All that while it is not possible to load another gun with the same ammo. (also caused some auto-reload attempts to fail).
Of course "pre-splitting"your stacks may prevent this forced pause, just as it does now with the auto-reload.
Just some thoughts....
