My favorite part when the CCP said, "My favorite part of the wormholes. There is always an exit and not need scanner ship."
So, now......... bull****, you need scannership or u will stuck or need self destruct.
Or yell in local, maybe anybody coming to WH in the next 2 years.
LOL. You are assuming "always an exit" refers to a wormhole. What happens when you ASSume?
Self-destructing is the "exit" CCP was referring to.
Sarcasm.
I known solution, how you can handling all your problem in live, make suicide, and voila, your problems will gone. LOL This is the CCP solution too, but you want to try it ?

Please tell me you're not flying solo in wormhole space in a ship without a core probe launcher????.....
So, when 8 ship go in to WH and the scanner ship destroyed, the other 7 ships need selfdestruct ? Oh my god.
All your eggs. One basket.
You're the fool.

Well we all got out after about 1hour of getting stuck 35 jumps away from our space not planning on another trip too soon into 1 of those things.

I've been stuck in a wormhole for hours now. We brought some ships in, as they were leaving the wormhole collapsed. 2 of us are stuck in system. Both ships have a probe launcher and plenty of probes. I am in a cov ops with pretty good probing skills but can't get out. There are so many signatures in the small system, that I can't sort out which is the wormhole. It took me 5 minutes to probe out the entrance to the thing, but I am about to give up on the exit. Just too many signatures in the system, every scan yields a bunch of results. Been trying to narrow them down one by one, but still can't locate an exit.
Does anyone have any tips or suggestions? Other than self destruct that is.
They really need to let us filter scan types imo.

I suppose you could try a 4-8 AU probe on them all, at 20% (or was it 30%) the sigs tell what type they are. Might be able to narrow it down from there. ------------------------ Low-sec is like sailing along the coast of Somalia...

First, the new core probe launcher was designed for exploration only but has its cpu requirement nerfed to only 15, so that it can be fitted to basically any ship that you want to take into the wormhole and still be able to probe an exit. So you were stupid for not researching the topic and realizing this.
Second, even without the probe launcher, did any of you think to maybe use the onboard scanner to try and find an exit?

Self-destructing is the "exit" CCP was referring to.
Actually CCP said that there will be always at least one wormhole leading in/out of the system. If this wormhole collapses - new one appears. So either you scan for way out or you self destruct.

Same thing happend to my gang. You just have to ask nicely in Local and if someone pipes up they can help you find an exit by joining there gang, other than that you are most definetly screwed. I was lucky.
I would however like to know if there are more than one wormhole in these alien systems? Or if they do indeed need to colapse before another one pops up?

Edited by: Echo Vector on 11/03/2009 11:16:07 The "trick" to finding the exit is first to know what the hell you are looking for.
I have stumbled across a method that makes fast work of finding the way out, though many times, that "way out" is another WH, eventually you get back to known space.
My trick requires using two kinds of probes.
At the Sun, drop a deep space probe and expand it to reach past the last planet. Then drop cores at each planet set for 8AU.
Now scan. Set your filter to just show Sigs. What you are looking for is an "Unknown" sig.
If you are lucky, you'll get a hit first go, and then you can narrow it down using just cores as normal. If not, start reducing the sizes of ALL the probes until you get an "Unknown".
In one particularly nasty instance, I even needed to shift and shrink the deep space probe to get that first hit.
Once you have at least one "unknown" on scan, you are less than 5 minutes away from being out of that system.
Unless, of course, you haven't worked out how to PROPERLY and EFFICIENTLY use the cores............

Seriously, W-space is like playing with fire, u will **** in your pants at some point :)

use 4 probes to start one at each corner of te system then slowly fill in the gaps with more probes dntmove them that way u can eventully geta lock on somthing if its not an exit u just keep adding more probes

Wormholes promote Darwinian Mechanics (did i spell it right?)
I approve of WHs
1 Jumpclone to a empty clone 2 Get someone with you who knows how to use the new probes 3 Take lots and lots of beer 4 Do not expect to return 5 Have fun.

LOL ul then mate, your only hope is to spam local and hope some very friendly guy will give you a bookmark to wormhole out, which is a slim to none chance.
Option 2 is to bookmark your onyx, eject and self destruct your pod. You might one day find your onyx again but im sure someone else will steal it in pretty short amount of time.

He speaks the truth.
There is also a third option (other than "scan moar" and pod-pop), PM some friends in K-space, tell them your W-space system name, and beg for a daring rescue mission and escort home.
They'll only have some 2000+ systems to search, no problem!
However, this method depends on you having dependable friends (hell, having friends may be a difficult starting point).
I like this idea, because it has the potential for large herds of morons roaming W-space together all without scanners. It'd be like a Thukker Caravan, but with more moaning. -----

This is where the bad get sorted from the better. With astrometrics 5 you can spam 8 probes, make a a pattern of choice, then move that entire thing around. ofc, the probe range must be set so you, more often than not, get the second colums filled with types.
And.. yeah, gl :)

I do not recommend asking in local.
I was in WS when a call came over the local channel, which surprised me as I thought local doesn't work in WS, asking for help getting out as they were stuck.
I answered, said I was at a WH now which I wasn't, fleeted said asker and blowed him up when he warped to me.
Now he's stuck in WS in a pod instead of a ship.
Wonder whatever happened to that fellow. Prob self-destructed.

Your reply put a big smile in my face :)
And btw, i just realised this now:
Some Dev said in the interview in Apocrypha site "Universe of EVE is getting crowded"
Well, they just made the ultimate engine to take people out from K-Space....lock them inside W-space and throw out the key (actually the "key" here is some intelligence combined with unlucky choices)

They really need to let us filter scan types imo.
You can create filters , click the "►" symbol next to drop down box underneath where it says "scan result filter"

This was me yesterday. Corp sent a rescue mission after I warped into w-space with the scanner in my cargohold (figuring I could just dock at a station and fit it... whoops). We ended up killing stuff and bringing back enough salvage to make the rescue mission worth it.
