Is there anything preventing an exit wormhole dropping you into highsec just to get popped by concord cause your sec is too low?

Nope, luck of the draw although as long as it doesnt collapse you may be able to get back and jump back through again, a lot of W-Space systems have more than 1 exit.

If you're caught in a wormhole and self-destruct. How does those maintaining your clone know when to activate it? There's just no way they will know you're dead. Self-destructing in a wormhole can get you permakilled! Do not self-destruct is my conclusion.

Same thing happened to me, sort of. I was happilly exploring w-space in my cov-ops when 2 Marauders jumped in behind me, closing the WH and promptly lost their scanner ship. I've got 90 cores left so I believe I'll get out, just a matter of time. I've found 2 WH in the system so far, but both lead deeper int W-space. There are about 10 or so unidentified cosmic signatures in the primary system though.
Anybody know if its better to resolve all the sigs in the current system or move on and try one of the other systems?

I would say keep moving, gonna be waiting a long time maybe for more to spawn. Every new system has at least 1 or 2 more exits, the more you do technically the more the odds increase you will find a WH back to civilized space.

We got stuck and by pure luck after 20 minutes a guy who had been afk in the system for hours came back and found his friends had left him and we were talking in local to anyone who may be there to speak up. Pure luck to be honest or we would have been in there a lot longer.

You do realize that you can recall the probes, don't you? There is no need to have a bunch in the cargo... maybe just a set of spares plus the ones in the launcher itself. Also, carry an exotic dancer for good luck. If you don't believe in luck, can I haz?

Simple. Just sit there and wait until CCP releases the next full expansion, EVE Pseudepigrapha. By then the federations will have fully colonized W space, since the Tech 4 ships will create Stargates to WS after peace is achieved with sleepers in face of a new enemy, Dr. Squid. A station will be created in the system you are in, where you will be able to dock your rig ship. Of course, due to tech 4 usage, which use ancient technology know as "beta max", rigs will decrease in cost for about 3 isk, and your long wait will be for nothing.
Sorry man. This is just to a horrible way to say that you`re stuck. The dev blog said that once you get in, you may not get out. Don`t use over expensive stuff and use insurance. Otherwise, if you`re lucky someone else will open a WH near you.

Yep, I've done a bit of that. I've burned through 2 full sets tracking down the 20+ sigs in just this one system. But when the only thing between me getting back and needing to self destruct my own pod is a load of probes, I'm not going to skimp. Next time I may take more and an expanded launcher that can use deep space probes too. Might even try a force recon instead of a cov-ops.

I would like to thank the pajama man for his gallant rescue of my merry group of guys. We entered the WH in WH- of all places (tribute) and finally, after many hours of journey and finding out that the sleepers have dreads (cool) a red gang found them selves in our little pocket. We took the advantage and tried to close the WH on them by leaving from there WH.
Found ourselves in y-1w (fountain lol)and quickly got the heck out.
When asked the carrier pilot if he would do it again, he told that he would in a heart beat and loved every minute of the adventure. However he did mention a movie called the shining for some reason. Asking the pajama man if he would ever consider going into a WH with the brave and fearless carrier pilot again, he quickly responded with a definite NO.

So far, I have gone through 14 wormholes in hopes of getting back to 0.0 that I started from... Finding exits haven't been a problem so far. Was a bit nervous when I found wormholes leading in another wormhole three time in a row - theoretically I could end up in W-space forever.... Going from W-space to W-space... *-*^-^*-*^-^*-*^-^*-*^-^*-*^-^*-*^-^*-*^-^*-*^-^*-*^-^*-*^-^ By the way, I am an Ishtar and T2 sentries fan. Please tell me you're not flying solo in wormhole space in a ship without a core probe launcher????.....
So, when 8 ship go in to WH and the scanner ship destroyed, the other 7 ships need selfdestruct ? Oh my god.
go with more then 1 scanner ship
Huh? |

Originally by: Lesstuna ... Both ships have a probe launcher and plenty of probes. I am in a cov ops with pretty good probing skills but can't get out. There are so many signatures in the small system, ...
Does anyone have any tips or suggestions? Other than self destruct that is.
They really need to let us filter scan types imo.
The scans can be filtered to just show cosmic signatures, rather than showing alll kinds, this helps a bit. Start big, sort the signature list by strength and look for ones to start on, say 10% or so. Go smaller and try to close in on the sigs until you start to get types. Wormholes are unknown type - the others come up as gravimetric etc once the signal gets stronger and you can ignore them. Once you are down to some unknown type sigs you start to triangulate. Over 60-70% signal and it will say wormhole and you in the home stretch. With practise you can find a WH in 20 minutes (or less) from scratch in a rigged covops.

Oh, and OP, always bookmark the WH you came in on. Eject from your hic in a BM'd safespot, destruct your pod, fly your clone to the WH and go in and retrieve the HIC. If the WH is gone, write down the system number where you left the HIC and hope you find it again before the 30 day garbage collector deletes the parked ship :) :)

Core Probe Launchers use 15CPU and fit on any ship, If everyone has one onboard its going to make finding things a lot quicker. The probes take up next to no space in cargo and can be reused. Dont rely on 1 scanner ship or it will end in tears, make every ship a scanner ship.

Almost the same happened to me. Was attacked by players, left the wormhole to replace some lost drones. When I came back, there was no wormhole. Somewhere, there's about 6 or 7 pilots looking for a way out.

Edited by: Murasaki Ryujin on 12/03/2009 16:03:56 Edited by: Murasaki Ryujin on 12/03/2009 16:03:27 My oddesy ended well. Finally found an exit to lo-sec only 2 jumps from hi-sec and 29 jumps from home. Had 1 corpie and 3 others tag along. 1 BS and 2 orphaned Marauders. Even got some thanks (isk) for saving their 800 mil isk ships :)
Probe ships are the most valuable in the fleet, never felt so safe in no sec space!
Wonder if I can make a career or at least a bit of side income as a pathfinder for the lost and lonely - at least until every ships does decide to mount a probe launcher.

Be patient and use your ship scanner to see if there are any ships in local , if there are then ask very nicely if they would leave a book mark at a planet for you or if you feel you can trust them ask them to fleet warp you to the exit. I was in your position and this worked for me . However when and if they reply in local bring up there info and check out ther security stats cos if they are griefers they will destroy you. Be patient and maybe if you get a good guy who gets you out show some good will and send him some isks..
