dev answer could be nice here.
so i start a convo with agent, says go kill some drones, im lazy so decline mission. now one would expect agent too wait untill talked too again before offering another mission. but OHNOES straight away without asking agent throws another mission at me.
WHY CCP?. if i wanted too run another mission i would ask. so why does agent deal another mission right away. i did not ask agent !!, but clicking decline accpet and finnish causes another mission too appear thats not accpeted.
EPIC missions:
lol so where are they for us pve veterans, no offence im kinda bored with this pve lark now, the constant rinse and repeat malarky we have. eyecandy is all well and good but i want more content better storylines from missions MORE meaning too pve not rinse repeat, rinse repeat day in day out.

Makes no sense. If you are too lazy to do a mission why did you convo the agent. The agent just assumed that you didn't want to do THAT mission and offered a new one.

And what about if you double click the wrong agent by mistake. As I just did, and ended up with a level 4 mission that I dont have a hope in hell of completing.
Please dont tell me to wait and let it expire either - I dont particularly fancy the standings hit....

Expires and Accepted missions that expires don't give standings hits anymore ^^. You can still decline a mission every 4 hours.

I'm cheating a bit by copy & pasting, but this forum could use some more blue.
Mission expiration, i.e. offer time-outs and accepted missions expiring, no longer incur a standing penalty. Declining and Quitting both carry the same penalties as before, but now it's a choice between loss of time or standing, never both.
Every 4 hours you can still decline one without penalty. If you have Declined or Quit a mission, you can note on the left pane of the new interaction window that at the bottom there is now a message that informs you both if you will incur penalty declining this mission and a countdown timer of how much more time you have to wait without penalty.

Still silly you cant cancle a storyline due to the fact the agent doesnt have another mission for you. (even thou just ignoring it till it times out wont affect standings)

This is rather unintuitive to me, I ran into the same problem (convoing wrong agent by accident and getting a mission thrown at me).
I suppose I'll just bugreport it, we dont need database clutter with mission mishaps that are waiting to time out eh? ---

Huh, so I guess it's just bad luck that I've declined the same mission twice now, and just received it a third time? I figured that was part of the bug too.
In any case I think this behavior is a bit unintuitive. I liked it better before where you had to explicitly ask for another mission. This is going to confuse an awful lot of people.

For those of us that mission alot ...
I know I do, and I do sometimes click the wrong agent in stations where several are available to me. I also somtimes manage to get 2 storylines a day, not all I accept i.e. killing faction ships to preserve my standings.
Also I use several agents due to the fact I mission for the different LP store offers and mission often to the demand of an item I wish for myself or to sell, so I can jumping around quite a bit. When I have the LP I need with one agent/corp I move on to the next WITHOUT taking a new mission in ADVANCE.
This new system may mean I will reach my MAX OFFERED missions pretty soon and I maybe forced to start micromanage my missions. Or stop missioning till something times out.
Now I am getting confused the more I think of this ... ok ... correct me if I am wrong ... I mean this means if I accidently click a lvl 1 agent instead of my lvl 4 I have this in my list, I cannot go decline it because I will get a new offer still in my list ... I will HAVE to wait one WEEK for this to expire or actually go run this mission. (And no I do not wish to have a ship geared up and ready for every lvl mission, not all missions will allow me to do/are practical to do in a BS) THIS combined with storylines I do not wish to do also of which I have to wait one WEEK or do 16 MORE missions and hope for a good offer to get THIS OFF my list.
So EVERY agent I doubleclick will leave a mark on my list leaving me 2 options to get it off: 1. Complete the mission 2. Wait a week for the offer to expire
Storylines come unasked for in the list but cannot be declined due to the fact they have no follow up available leaving me with the 2 choices above aswell. As I get quite a few Storyline a week, I am very concerned they eventually the unwanted ones may start cluttering up halve my available OPEN mission offers.
Do I understand this correctly or not and please correct me if I am wrong because I am starting to get the feeling I will end up missioning NOT by my own choice of pattern, but soon to a pattern forced opon me.
Regards

I don't think anyone's going to disagree this is pretty counter-intutative, and i'd really like to hear the GM's explanation for the motivation behind this bold move.
Anyways, for the mission runners, it just means adapting to the new system. and FYI, if you open your journal and select: "start conversation" I've found you can decline missions in space and they will dissapear from your journal. I pray like Hell this isn't a bug . . . _______________________________________________ Easy Dude. You're being very un-Dude.

I've tried to petition that stuff already... GM said "wait 'till it expire, it won't hurt standings"
tbh, this sucks. And, just by the way, if you _complete_ mission - you don't get next one automatically (except for chains, of course)...

Well and next advance in that mission UI will be that offer will open in different window and outgame with "click 10 times more" stuff, so compare to this mission ui is really "Excellent".

Edited by: Michael Snark on 11/03/2009 08:03:09 I lived without queue for 3 years, so it's not a problem really, just handy for 1-2-3 short skills if you have them ;)
But the fact someone attempted to fix workin' stuff in think in advance for me on mission canceling stuff - _that_ suxx.
ps: LOL! I can't decline the fact, that you need click twice or trice now (in fleet case) to complete mission...

I'll Disagree that it's counter intuitive...
It's just different from what your use to, if you think about it w/o the preconceived notion of what it use to be, it does make some sense.
Even though they are in reality, form the perspective of the game world the Agents are not mission vending machines, they are your employers, "people" working for corporations who's job it is to hire people to get things done. They are your contacts.
All this missioners complaining about the monotony, then CCP makes a small change and at the same time "Oh no, its hard no, I have to think before I do things and plan ahead for what I want to do."
The Dev's have said that they like the fact the eve is a harsh place and that means there can and probably will be penalty's, set backs, and things that are unfair at times.
and for the "I clicked by accident" crowd... just exactly how often do you plan on clicking the wrong button? I don't get the lack of accountability because it wasn't intentional. Referencing the harshness above, if you are careless and make stupid mistakes, some times there are consequences.

And made it easily immediately, 'cos you don't have to worry about mission expiration time ;) But still you can't just decline mission to 'get rid' of agent. Where's the logic here? |

Edited by: Roberto on 11/03/2009 10:35:24 Edited by: Roberto on 11/03/2009 10:33:46 You don't have to wait a week for a mission offer to decline. Even if you have just rejected a mission, you only have to wait 4 hours to decline the new offer without consequences. (remember that the 4 hour cooldown is PER AGENT - so just have a few agents around you can use and switch between)
Also, the limited time I have spent in missions since patch shows me, that you do not get offered a new mission once you complete one until you press "Continue" - just don't that after completing a mission if you don't want more missions from that agent.

Yes, but: a) as soon as you decline mission - you'll offered next one automatically; b) you can not decline storyline, because there's no 'next' mission by default.

Motivated by this thread, I contacted one of my agents in a remote system to see how our interaction would go. He had a mission I didn't want so I declined it. I didn't get another one immediately and, even after I hit "continue", he insisted that I come visit him in person. So far so good.

CONTINUE: this used too be close on mission page. so you automaticly think yeah continue will close box and agent will go away. but no ccp have made it so when you click continue the agent gives another mission.
personaly we have been given the bum deal here, EPIC missions, omfg please dont make me lol so much, atleast a dev/whatever decided copy and paste was good enough lol maybe next time in thier own words would be better . now ccp get rid of that annoying continue and replace it with close. next sort out PVE for veteran players, 3 years pve and nothing has very rarely changed the same old rinse and repeat. new missions!! please point me in the direction or was this a buttering up us pve'rs make us semi happy and feel we getting something outta this game. gm/devs have new tools, well bloody use them for christ sake. how long have we had angel extrav, worlds colide etc etc etc. last count i was running these missions back in june 2006 bit outdated wouldnt one say ?
flame as much as you like. i for one want more content better missions, different missions not the same rinse repeat. all agents should offer epic arks,it would be a way too drag pve from the rinse and repeat we have now.

I decided I don't like the mission my r&d agent gave me. Guess what? Can't refuse. I don't have to complete the mission, nope. But for some reason the mission is still lit up on my journal and I guess it'll stay there until it expires.
Why? Who knows but I do care.
Of course I'm cool with finding stuff in Eve that makes no sense. I'm sure this will be even more confusing for people with a lot less experience with CCP than I have. WooHoo, new player experience should include a tutorial titled, "It don't make sense but that's the thrill of it all."
My old mercenary(PVP) corp is recruiting again. Would you believe I'm giving them my signature block for free? |
