I was looking into getting standings with all factions about 2 years ago. I did figure out that if you swap sides you can go up, but that didn't yield that much of an result. So found the plan, even though I did skip most of the stuff from there, I found out about L4 epic arcs and that they don't cause standings hit, so decided to skip every storyline and anti-faction missions and just do Incursions, Epic arcs and occasional regular missions. After 2 years, and countless epic arcs (2-3 toons doing them every 3 months, I'm guessing I completed each epic arc at least 15-20 times :D)

Hello, I am trying to reach positive standing with each empire, and gain access to a lvl 4 R&D agent for each empire. I started with the amarr, and at the time I did not plan on keeping positive standings. So currently my highest standing is 0.91 for the Caldari. The lowest is minmatar at -1.94, I currently have access to lvl 1 R&D agents for the Carthum Conglomerate. I am going to begin using 'The Plan' in the hopes of reaching positive standings for each empire. I have a few questions regarding the point at which standings equalize. I am not planning on raising them all to 5.00 or above, and by positive I mean simply want to be welcome in each empire 0.04 as a low example would be fine with me. My question is how far do I need to go with the standings for each empire. I do not have access to lvl 4 agents for any corp, and in your opinion would i need to gain access to lvl 4 epic arc and cosmos agents to achieve this?. (also first forum post lol ) |

Arashi Kumo,
Hello and welcome to the forums.
As long as your Empire Faction standings remain above -5.00 standing, you can freely travel everywhere. To access high level agents, the Faction standing needs to remain above -2.00 standing.
R&D Agents require a minimum amount of positive Faction and Corporation standing for access. To see what amount is needed, show info on the agents and then work 'The Plan' to achieve that goal. After reaching the minimum amount of Faction standing, you'll have to do regular missions to gain the Corporation standing.
The thing about the Epic Arcs is they give a large Faction standing increase with little to no derived standing hits. The only problem is they can only be completed every 3 months. The rest of the Event Agents can only be completed once in the life of the character.
If you follow 'The Plan' you'll be able to access R&D Agents with each Empire Faction. Training Research Project Management skill to Level 5 will give access to 6 R&D Agents.
For right now I suggest you follow the steps outlined in 'The Plan' and get the Faction standings close to equal. After viewing the required amount of standings needed for R&D Agents, bounce between the various Event Agents until you have gained the minimum amount of required Faction standings, then work regular missions for the Corporation Agents. Make sure to decline all Anti-Empire encounter missions and also Storyline mission offers in order to maintain your Faction standings.
Hope this makes sense. Good luck to you and if you have any more questions, feel free to ask.

Is there an mission to boost caldari empire standings without killing the other 3 empire standings? Similar to how SOE missions boost gallante without decreasing other 3 empire standings. |

Wuu Tang,
Thanks for posting that very good question. Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe you're talking about derived standings.
So to answer your question, I would say the Epic Arc missions are pretty much the only type that does what you're asking.
Just remember though, doing them will still incur a little bit of negative Faction standing hits due to ship kills / aggression. The amount of negative standing incurred is very small compared to the amount of positive standing gained for completion.
Also the negative standing hits to the other Faction can be easily managed just by completing their Epic Arcs as well.

I set a goal to get above 5 standings with all factions before crius so I could anchor a tower anywhere in Empire. That reason doesn't exist anymore, but I still want to accomplish the goal. I just wish CCP would quit nerfing the rewards that go with standings.

Shiloh Templeton,
Yes I agree, the main reason for having high Faction standings in the past was to anchor a POS in high security.
However, there's still other benefits to having high Faction standings too, mainly being able to access all Agents in all Corporations within those Factions. That makes it very easy to build up Corporation standing to create Jump Clones, get reduced tax on Refining as well as access high level Locator Agents.
I think CCP did a big mistake when they removed the Faction Standing requirement for anchoring POS in high security systems but that's a topic for another thread.
Anyway, 'The Plan' itself was actually created to repair negative Faction standings. While in the process of doing that it also helps boost positive Faction standings. If worked correctly players can easily get positive Faction standings with all Empire Factions. Over time the 4 main Factions can be well above +7.00 Faction standing.

Marauder, any will do with decent fit. I aim for 1000-1200 dps tank in bastion + 4 faction damage modifiers, rest is what ever you fancy. You can prolly get away with ship hull + 250-400 mill for damage mods, 100 mill for rigs and rest can be T2 and it will perform nicely.

There are my standings now Amarr Empire7.78 Gallente Federation6.94 Minmatar Republic6.75 Caldari State6.58 And in past I've used Machariel, Ishtar, Rattlesnake, Vargur, Paladin, Golem (sometimes just one ship, sometimes 2 of them on grid) and all of them worked, but marauders work best since ewar immunity. Otherwise gun ships have issues with amarr one due to tracking disruption, all non-marauders need buddy or drone boat for last caldari mission and its pain for damps in gallente one without bastion. Only ever lost one ishtar due to going afk for 1 minute and not noticing there were still couple neuting cruisers who drained its cap and killed it.
A T2 fit Vargur and a T2 fit Cov Ops can do every mission in the Epic Arc except for some of the branch missions with courier stuff.
This man speaks the truth though, as all those ships are viable. However many people report their faction standings didn't change after the arcs. To each their own. |

Thats because of an bug while fleeted with somebody else and doing same mission 2 times, wrong character gets objective completed marker. Just petion it and you get standings. Also Gallente mission Heresiology is currently bugged and needs petition to complete.

Murderface Mona wrote:Do you have a recommended ship or class of ship for completing most of these missions? That's a very good question, not to mention also very important.
Since I'm Minmatar I only used Minmatar ships. Also I had completed the Event Agents listed in 'The Plan' before CCP did their Ship re-balancing so all of my ship fits were max fit using T2, Faction and Deadspace modules.
The main thing to remember is that the difficulty level of Cosmos Agent missions are actually a step higher than regular Agent missions. Basically that means a level 2 Cosmos Agent is actually equal to a level 3 regular Agent.
Having said that I can only list ship class, not specific names.
All of the level 1 Event Agents can be easily completed in a combat Frigate, best to use an Assault Frigate when you do the level 1 Cosmos Agents.
For level 2 Cosmos Agent missions I suggest a well fit Cruiser. I actually used 2 different types. A basic Combat Cruiser (T1) and a Force Recon Cruiser (T2), depending on the mission.
For majority of level 3 Cosmos Agent missions I used a T1 Battlecruiser.
For level 4 Cosmos Agent missions and also for the Epic Arcs I used a T3 Strategic Cruiser. (The only Epic Arc mission I can't complete solo is the final mission in the Caldari Epic Arc due to the perma-jam being done by Elite Cruisers. I have a Fleet member help with that mission.)
At various times depending on the situation I'd use other ships, such as a Shuttle, Industrial, Blockade Runner, etc. Some missions send you into Complexes that only allow a specific class of ship and other missions send you into low sec so a ship able to use a Covert Ops Cloak module is very helpful (Force Recon, Blockade Runner, T3 Cruiser). Also remember some of the missions require probing and some require Hacking so you'll need a ship capable of that while doing combat as well.
The Event Agent missions can only be completed once so best to be prepared with a large variety of ships to use including a Battleship. Also make sure you have some friends online and nearby cause some of the missions may require Fleet members to complete.
Sorry I couldn't be more specific, hope this is helpful and good luck to you.

Well, I've listed various walk-through guide links in 'The Plan' for most of the Event Agent missions. As such, it makes it a lot easier to complete them. I suggest you do a little bit of research and view them first before actually contacting those Agents.
What I did was first view the various guides for a specific Agent and make a list of all items required to complete that Agents mission series. Then I'd go seek and secure those items first whenever possible before even contacting that Agent. Doing that allowed me to complete the missions and collect both the mission and bonus time rewards.
Most of the items can be obtained from Public Contracts and or Regional Markets if needed which helps a lot, especially if the mission is against one of the 4 main Empire Factions. Just remember doing that can get rather expensive but greatly reduces the amount of time required to actually complete those missions.
I mainly only did that when the mission was against one of the 4 main Empire Factions, which wasn't too often. Most of the time I just researched the Agents mission series first and then did the 'Seek & Secure' aspect first.
Anyway, hope you have much success and good luck working 'The Plan'.

Hello and welcome to Eve.
Faction standings are a bit of a puzzle right at first but this Standings table makes it much easier to understand. Whenever you complete a Storyline or Event Agent mission, your Faction standings will change. Also destroying certain structures and NPC ships will affect your standings as well.
To build up Faction standing directly with Thukker Tribe requires completing storyline missions gained after completing 16 regular missions. There's also 7 Thukker Tribe Cosmos Agents available as well.
Just remember whenever you gain Faction standing directly with Thukker Tribe, you'll lose Faction standing with all the other Factions except Minmatar Republic. Thukker Tribe has positive standing with Minmatar Republic so they'll gain derived Faction standings indirectly whenever Faction standing is gained with Minmatar Republic.
In my opinion it's actually better to build up Thukker Tribe with derived standing gains from Minmatar Republic. I'd save the Thukker Tribe Cosmos Agents for later after gaining high standing with the other Empire Factions.
In order to access high level Thukker Agents, just maintain their Faction above -2.00 standing. For traveling maintain their Faction above -5.00 standing. The Diplomacy skill should be able to achieve that quite easily.
Good luck to you, hope this was helpful.

Sounds good.
So I'm on the right path. After 16 Thukker Mix I should see a storyline mission that will move that -81 closer to zero.
I had thought about doing another Minmatar tutoiral but then I worried about throwing Ammatar and Caldari off. I still got Sister of Eve coming up where you get to select free standing but I was planning to donate that to Ammatar to offset future stuff I don't know about yet. |

Hi DeMichael,
First up - thankyou, thankyou, thankyou for the guide!
Second, and my main question, my goal is to have all main empire factions >+5.0 for doing lvl 4 missions with 'any-one'.
I currently have social (5) and connections/diplomacy (4). Min/Gal are just over 5.0 with Ama/Cal around the 1.0ish mark (actually slightly negative but Diplomacy is making them positive).
The part I am confused with reading your plan is, if I continue to do any more cosmos/data agents for either Ama/Cal I will drop below 5.0 for Min/Gal. Dropping below 5.0 on Min/Gal locks me out of some of there lvl 4s which is my goal.
Basically, my fear is if I keep following the plan I might end up with say 3.0? faction for all 4 empires which means I'd have to wait every 3 months for the SOE arc to come around and slowly boost each one in turn till 5.0
Therefore, may I ask how you'd approach fixing up my lop-sided factions with the goals; - 'Trying' to keep min/gal above 5.0 - 'Trying to get ama/cal above 5.0 also (from around 1.0)
Also, there is mention not to accept regular 'shoot-faction' missions. No worries, but what if the storyline mission given asks me to shoot opposing faction ships? Do I have to decline and then grind another 16 to see what the next storyline requests?
Thanks in advance.
Again, I honestly appreciate your work.

Hello Papera Ebaki,
Thank you very much for the compliment. It's always good to see 'The Plan' is still helping Capsuleers.
Now about your situation. First let's address the grinding of 16 regular missions to gain a Storyline mission offer.
Yes, if offered a Storyline encounter mission against Empire Factions, decline it and continue grinding regular missions to get another Storyline offer. The same applies to grinding regular missions. If offered an encounter mission against Empire Factions, decline it and if necessary, wait out the 4 hour decline timer or access another Agent. That way any positive standings previously gained won't be damaged. I know it makes the process longer but it's well worth it.
As for your main issue, first off train Diplomacy and Connections to level 5 asap. That will give you a much better idea on how to proceed. Secondly, I can't really give advise on what steps to do without knowing how many Event Agents you've already accessed.
When working 'The Plan', the standings will do a 'Sea-Saw' action, meaning they will go up and down with the completion of each Event Agent. The main thing to do is to keep watch on the standings and 'bounce' over to the Faction with the lowest standings while you still have access to that level of Agent.
For example :
Let's say you've already accessed all level 1 and level 2 Event Agents for Minmatar and Gallente Factions with Minmatar above +5.00 standing and Gallente above +4.00 standing. Amarr Faction is currently at +1.00 standing and Caldari is +1.50 standing. Since Amarr Faction standing is the lowest and Minmatar Faction standing is the highest, work the Amarr Event Agents and keep watch on Minmatar Faction standing until it get's close to yet still remains above +3.00 Faction standing, then 'bounce' back to Minmatar and work their level 3 Event Agents.
Note : When doing that, Gallente Faction can be used instead of Minmatar since Gallente standings won't be hit as hard when working Amarr Event Agents. As such, their standings will probably become higher than Minmatar allowing access to their level 3 Event Agents.
Anyway, while doing that, keep watch on the other Factions and whichever one becomes the lowest standing, that's the next Faction to 'bounce' to and work. The trick is to maintain access to the current or next level of Event Agents for that Faction. Sometimes it can't be done and that's when the grinding of 16 regular missions for a Storyline offer is needed to get back to working 'The Plan'.
Eventually the Empire Faction standings will get close to being equal which is the initial goal. After that it's basically work one Factions Event Agent and then 'bounce' to another Factions Event Agent to slowly bring them all up together. The Epic Arcs are excellent for doing this, especially the level 1 Sisters Of Eve Epic Arc which allows you to choose one of the four main Empire Factions for completion.
I hope this info helps and feel free to ask questions again if needed. May you have good luck and much success working 'The Plan'.

What I'm doing for myself is just to get social to level 5. Decline every mission which sends me out to kill Empire NPC's. Decline every storyline mission no matter what. That keeps your standings without changes, so you can run as many missions as you want and it won't change a thing.
After that I go for epic arcs, they bring big boost to certain faction with no penalties to others if you play it right. This is what I have now for standings: standings
Also, here is guide to epic arcs: epic arc guide *
*Guides are being updated, Amarr and Caldari has recent pass and are up to date and with easy mission selection menus. Minmatar and Gallente are up to date but with old styling so it's a bit harder to navigate the missions, new pass will be done on them over next weekend

There should be an easier way to repair faction standings a la security tags for your own security standings. all this grinding is insane for this day and age. |

DMC if your goal were to bring an empire faction straight from 0.0 to 5.0 as quick (fewest gameplay hours) as possible, what would the method be?
I'm thinking its buy all the affordable data center tags for the faction of interest, and its main ally, and turn those in. Then buy the lv 2 cosmos items for both factions on contract and turn those in as well. I think in this case the circle agents and 'starter' agents would generally be a waste of time. I wonder if that would be enough, assuming you had the relevant social skills trained to V. |

And its great that CCP does not agree with you (I hope they will not in future either). And if "this grinding is insane" for you, most probably you can do other things, that are not / do not seem insane for you. Well... ruining your standing was the greatest insanity to start off and if you ruined it, most probably it happened because you thought: "reading guides and gathering information is for sassies and it's insane waste of time - there should be easier way to do that" so you went straight for shooting and blowing things. You had other options and made your choice .
The main thing which makes this game really good is that you have free choice and the choices you make bring you consequences. |
