Gallente Shadows Of The Federation

State of the Gallente Federation-Caldari State War
As of yesterday the Caldari State reached a new high mark in their war against the Federation, they have taken control of the Verge Vendor region, this are dark news for us Gallenteans but it must also be taken as call to all that defend freedom to redouble their efforts to stop the Caldari aggression. This happened due to the ineptitude of both the Federation Navy and the Federal Defense Union. The Militia never did truly organized a concerted effort in order to stop the Caldari onslaught and the Navy has never been able to counter the Caldari tactics. Steps must be taken to correct this problems or we are facing a still darker future. But its in the darkest moments that light shines brighter, so lets us the defenders of freedom and justice be that light and carry it until our final victory !
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Well enough fluff and credit where is due the Caldari Militia (in particular certain of their corps) are winning the war, that is a because of 3 factors, first they have worked hard and long for it, second we (the militia) never put a concerted effort in stopping them and third our Navy is useless. I share the blame for I am a member of the militia, but its also true that apart from certain members most people don't care for plexing, "what do I gain with that ?" (this in part its CCPs fault) being the most used sentence and the "let them have the systems,we have the kills !" being close second (but please guys look at the fw stats, lately we aren't getting neither systems nor more kills) or even "plexing is for carebears !". Most of the militia guys just want pew-pew (and I understand them I myself play 1-2 hours a day tops) in the moments they are playing but of lately pew-pew is found not in the "Tama pipe" but where plexing is heavier, it also seems that organization (at least regarding mid-long term goals) is not our thing and the Caldari has shown us what they can do and even what we COULD do if we wanted it. Our Navy (and the Amarr one last time I checked pre-Apocrypha) cant still handle anything that orbits faster than 1100m/s (see this post dated 10/2008 about the problem in detail http://www.eveonline.com/ingameboard.asp?a=topic&threadID=904635&page=1#12) and so almost anyone (at least no longer the 3 days noobs due to the "New Player Experience") can offensive plex anything Gallente/Amarrr by speed soloing it while we have to fight to get the same results and the magical "one setup plexes all" isn't really available to us. This is CCPs fault. I really hope that we CCP gives a little more attention to FW, I think its no longer "the first step to 0.0" but it gained a live of its own.
To end Federation Militia guys rise up ! Fight smarter, fight harder and plex for the love of the Federation !

It is not NPC fault that you will lose. Caldari plexing is always organised teamwork. It does not matter what NPC does it will be beaten anyway.
It is ment that Gallente Militia defend those plexes. So it is not NPC fault it is your and your militia members fault.
Caldari is going to conquer all your areas without rewards. So reward is not reason why you will lose. It is your and your militia member fault.
You've failed and you will fail again.
Soon there is no more Gallente it will be FAILLANTE !

Yes, the plex imbalances are a bit of a problem, but there are ways around it. You just need to have 5 pilots that capture 150+ plexes per week, that's all. Caldari seem to have several of those people, judging by the stats, while Gallente has none. No wonder that Gallente is losing.
While I was out capping 300 plexes per week, that gave enough for us to capture a few systems, but now that AshenShugar and Plumbumber and me stopped with it, you see the Caldari taking one system after another.
When I get some respect and recognition I'll be back, all I got was a lot of hate because I wanted a medal for winning a CCP sponsored contest regarding plexing for the Alliance Tournament. ---

Maybe we'll just let you take them all for now, and when you're bored and burnt-out, CCP finally introduces some reward, and we'll just take them all back, getting shiny items, while you did it all for nothing. ---

You did not have any problems with NPC , your standings were so good that NPC did not shoot you at all. So i think your plexing is not comparable to other players efforts at all.

Edited by: Cosmic Raider on 19/03/2009 12:31:04 All the reasons the Gallente are losing are here on display in their own words.
1. "Plexing is for carebears." This shows the fundamental lack of understanding that plexing is not about PVP. Even the most casual look at the kill leaders and plex leaders would reveal a striking coincidence.
2. The stunning continued insistence by Ankhesentapemtkah that she will only return if given a medal. This sort of selfishness and lack of leadership is exactly why the Gallente were unable to assemble a core group of plexers and then expand from there.
3. Various whining. Lack of reward is my favorite. As if the OMS-Tama run is rewarding. Our reward is the satisfaction we get every day from our teamwork to kill WT and take systems. We have gone from wondering WTF are we doing and how the hell will we do it to a sense that we can no longer be stopped. Even our own blob fleet FC's are now asking us how we are getting it done and when we tell them they are in disbelief. The so-called Plex imbalance? Figure it out and move forward.
4. Variations on the theme of "we just want to kill people." No wonder Gallente is bleeding pilots to other things - they have no reason to stay. Caldari plexers have a strategy and therefore a reason to play. We have purpose to what we are doing and know we are going to get plenty of pew pew every day.
Plexing is alot of work that requires the construction of a sophsticated network as well as acquiring and training people who buy into the strategy and the teamwork required. The fact that Gallente had some very good individual plexers shows the weakness of that approach - when they leave for whatever reason, the effort falls apart. Caldari also lost some great plexers, but our system enabled us to move forward to greater accomplishments. Simply put, Caldari made the investment and others have not. This is why we have captured an impressive 26 systems, control our base space and conquered Verge Vendor. We operate in every system over the entirety of Caldari-Gallente FW space, which many people find difficult to grasp.
The Gallente do have pilots that get it. Val Erian and Picado Pitviper come to mind. Microfunk is currently trying. However, if the Gallente are unable or unwilling to respond in a broader way, we will take the rest of their space as well. It's just a matter of time.

Since FOOM left I think the only Gallente FW pilots I have seen in Verge Vendor has been one enormous blob. They swept through and ran the available plexes while the Caldari just sat it out. Once the Gallente had breezed through never to be seen again the Caldari came back out and got on with their work. About the only resistance they face is pirates and they seem to have got the hang of dealing with us now, too
Please make a concerted effort to take back Verge Vendor, Federation Militia. I hate those Caldari 'plexes. The ECM makes it a bad place for pirating. Bring back the ineffectual sensor damping rats.

They dont get jammed.
Despite what the Caldari Militia say the combination of an inability to speed tank Caldari Navy NPC's, plus the fact that they jam you, does pose difficulties in plexes that the Caldari Militia do not have to deal with. However, saying that will just get the usual adapt crap... whatever.
FOOM did try, Gal Mil didnt listen, the likelyhood of FOOM ever returning to FW are about the same as a snowballs chance in hell. I dont really like forum chest beating, but have to hand it to the Caldari FW crowd, good job. Congrats.

If you're in it to take the plex you just kill the rats. Their damage is pretty easy to avoid or shrug off. Its when you're in for a quick gank and the rats turn on you that you've got problems.

Now I'll quickly bail this forum thread and not get webbed by the "plexing good or bad" debate. Just the quick cliches...to each their own, plex and let plex...or gank at your discretion. ;)

Sigh. Pretty much boils down to more Caldari enjoy/care about plexing than Gallente, plex 'imbalance', numbers and organization is just a byproduct. If you (Caldari Militia) want to play FW that way thats fine, and you have been very succsessful on that front. Others don't have to play that way though, and Caldari insisting that you're winning when most will admit Gallente simply don't care is an arguement thats been beaten to death already.
As far as 'winning the war', it's designed to never end.
Now if Dodixie/Auvergene and Jita/Motsu could be turned to lowsec and occupied people all over eve would have a reason to care.

Hussain, Kudos man. Damn fine job on the thread (although my ego wishes you had mentioned a certain Caldari corp or two).
I hope the gals do get a little fired up over this and work some plex magic, but alas, I think we know the answer to that.
Well, you have two regions left, so I think it won't be hard to figure out what we are doing next. You can get your spies out of our corp now. they obviously didn't work in VV.
I do say that out of all the points made on this thread I do agree most with the fact that CCP has kind of dropped the ball on FW. But not so much on the Plex NPCs. (Just grab the agro then kite the ships while a second pilot runs the timer down).
It has been almost a year since the launch of FW and there has been little changed.
This next quote is straight form a bullet point on the CCP press release about FW ò Factional Warfare Complexes - Militia pilots that successfully scan for a hidden deadspace complex and hold it uncontested for a set amount of time will claim it for their faction, and be rewarded with corporate standing as well as more tangible benefits.
The only tangible benefits I might have seen was rat loot. And while the press release and Dev blogs also allude to players having the power to direct the course of the conflict, not much was ever sad after the initial fan fare.
The fact that FW in itself could possibly end this year, or never brings up the question of why even bother plexing? But one could also ask why even bother FW PvP'ing? You gain nothing but a Killmail and you've ruined your standings with a faction almost beyond repair, while ostrasizing you from half of hi-sec. So I guess it's like pirating in a way...?
In short my whole point to this reply and I think a big dilemma for a lot of FW players is, does CCP have an endgame for FW? If so what is it? And secondly if you are going to play the game inside the game that is FW, you can't just play one half of it and say you're winning.

Edited by: Kessiaan on 20/03/2009 01:22:48 I tip my hat to the 22nd and the Caldari militia in general for what they've accomplished.
But since we're discussing it I do think that the rats need to be looked at - a lot of people on the Gallente side don't want to deal with plexes because of the ECM.
The ECM from the Caldari rats is far more of a problem for the Gallentes than getting damped is for the Caldari. It makes it virtually impossible to defend yourself if you're alone in a hostile plex, even against a single person in an inferior ship - some of the Taibu guys will near perma-jam most Gallente plexing boats in anything bigger than a minor, and makes it equally hard to engage Caldari plexing defensively (as you'll get jammed and either get owned or the target will warp off).
Now, I'm not saying you can't deal with it, but it's a pain in the ass and really turns people off in a way that damps don't, in a manner similar to the larger 'ECM is broken' debate that's been going on forever now.
In any case, the conquest won't last, things are finally starting to get a bit more organized on our side.

I agree completely that ECM sucks worse than Damps. But for some reason when everybody got their nano nerf wish (a ship that could move faster than ammo is just wrong) missile damage got nerfed too.
So I'd like to get an honest answer from the 3 Gallenete pilots who were plexing before & after Quantum Rise, are you take more, the same or less damage in Caldari plexes now?
Please, honor the 1v1 Q&A on this thread.

Most Caldari are not looking for pvp. They run 30 caracals through gallente hisec and back to tama which never stops for a fight even when it's in the pipe. They form 25 man fleets which turn and run when confronted with a similar sized force and waste their time in complexes because they think that a fake war can be 'won'.
If the squids wanted a fight they would form fleets and meet the gallente head on. If they want ranks they can sit in a complex and then beat their chests about it. Or maybe the squids are too afraid to lose anything bigger than a cruiser and that's why they stick to small plexes and complaining about rewards.
Congratulations on achieving meaningless ranks for runnng meaningless complexes in an attempt to win a meaningless war.

I've thought a great deal, about why and how Eve works so exceedingly well as a vehicle for entertainment, and while the answers are complicated, one thing stands out:
Cool and very rewarding experiences happen when you are willing to wait out the boring, the difficult and the frustrating to get to the sweet stuff.
Its simple really. The Gallente have not been willing to do the work as a group of pilots, and the Caldari have, and so we have excelled at Plex Warefare, and have had access to quality small to mid gang Pvp that comes with that.
There are reasons for this lopsidedness, having to do with Faction standing issue and complications around access to Jita's markets, or Caldari Rat Ecm.
But really in the end Foom Proved all that didnt matter and could be overcome.
I think that the major factor in the lack of participation in Plex ops by the Gals has to do with the Gank mentality in the game.
There is this tendency for Pilots to want a sure win and a quick Pvp fix.
The Caldari gained the upper hand quickly in the war as we adpated to Foom's strenght and successes, and When Foom left, we carried that considerable momentum on into the plex war with obvious success.
I have personally seen the 22nd GAIN pilot numbers, experience, and operational proficiency over the last 3 months while I have seen the Gallanete, feild but:
Val Erian and friends, 30 pilot Blobs, a few small plex fleets of 3 to 10 pilots.... A effort yes to be sure...but?
Where are the Gal Pilots running any plexes in Verge vendor for example?
I mean The main Caldari plexing fleets operate over 4 regions and so I've roamed to be sure and plexed far and wide and yet I see that the Gals still refuse to see any merit to plexing.
And so miss out on the Pvp that goes with that.
Ive been tempted to Fund Val and his buddies isk to just keep them in the fight.... WE have had such amazing run and gun battles with him and his!!
LOL
Its not complicated:
Gals if you want a solid challange then run 1 to 10 person fleets and take plexs back one by one and you will have all the Pvp the 22nd and the other Caldri Militia corp can throw at you ... daily.
Forget the sure win mentality as Val did when he pushed 6 Caldari pilots out of a major unrestricted in but a solo Ishtar, with a mwd and rack of sentry drones.
One of the most amazing fights I've lost yet and it was a Highlight of my Militia career to be sure.
Just Do it!!

Originally by: Atraxerxes I agree completely that ECM sucks worse than Damps.
AX
I'd say about the same. Instead of taking a zoomzoom interceptor and speed tanking everything you take an AF, put an AB, a SAR, and as many resistance mods as you can squeeze on, and just tank it.
Ishkur is most favored since a rail fit can still do about 3/4 of it's normal DPS when it's ECM'd.
And I agree that FOOM were the **** - I'm sad they're gone, but we're stepping up, slowly but surely.

Every time we came into a system where the 22nd were they just ran. And ran and ran.
You can't catch small ships in empire, so they waited in their plex until we arrived on the gate, we warp in. They are 60km away on the button/thing. As soon as we get to 40km they warp off.
WHERE IS THE FUN IN THAT. HONESTLY? WHERE?
You can't bait, as the time it takes to get into a plex your bait ship is dead, you can't gank as the time it takes to get into a plex, and you can't expect even numbers as the time.. oh no, thats just EVE!
Even FOOM knew that plexing was a waste of time. So I offer you all the systems you want. You'll then have nothing to do, then you might actually try and win the war you are in.

Bingo. (I guess not in the way you meant though)
FW is also "just" a permadec. You get sentry gun- free pvp, (Ceptors and AFs galore compared to pirating) you get some Concord- free hi sec PVP and you can still engage most targets in lo sec and take the sec hit if you want, just like when pirating. (Only got a couple of thousand more blues than a regular pie but it's a small downside TBH)
Perfect, really!
I love PVP, I could also be in a Pirate corp or a PVP- centric 0.0 corp but I think I'm getting the most out of my subscription being in a good PVP- centric FW corp and getting endless small gang fights in varied shiptypes and basically no megablobs or POS warfare. What's not to like?
I still couldn't care less about who's "winning" the PVE war as long as I'm getting fights and having fun... Sorry! ---

Gotta agree with my corpies.
No bubbles, no politics, minimal caps and POS compared to 0.0, free war-decs, minimal logistics, different shiptypes usable on gates (drone boats \o/) Black Rise is fairly banging in my opinion, loads of targets and the list of local pirates reads like a who's-who. BYDI, swigg, invictia (not sure if you're pirates but I hear scary things)... I've had a great fight with a Red Box faction BS gang, even seen Veto make several passes thru. Not to mention several smaller corps which seem capable as well.
I'm getting exactly what I want outta FW without plexing, therefore I won't plex. If Caldari enjoy it then by all means have a merry time doing it, that doesn't mean we're playing FW wrong or losing when we're willing to concede the plexes.
That said the speed of which you're plexing is rather impressive, so I'll tip my hat to that. Just don't demand I try to stop it. |

So it boils down to this. The Caldari say they want to pvp in the plexes and want the Gallente to come chasing after them. On the other hand you have the Gallente saying that if the Caldari want to pvp at all, why not get a fleet together and meet them head on in the Tama pipe.
So its really not an issue of what FW is or it not. Its an issue of what 2 different sides want, which will never be resolved.
Maybe if the Caldari put together some head on fleets and the Gallente did a little bit more plexing it would be more fun all around

When Foom lived next door to us in Black rise we would often try and goad them into a fight on a gate or at there station and quite often they would ignore us or seem to be all afk. Yet if a plex opened in one of the local systems their station would spew out ships like jitta 4/4.
They would never give up either. If we pushed them out they would return and try again quite often they would push us out escpicialy there minor plex destroyer fleet was fearsome beast indeed. Running a Plex anywhere near these guys was tense affair because you knew untill that timer ran out a response was immenent.
I found this behaviour hard to fathom at first untill I took part in the campiagn to capture Verge-Vendor. You see when you have a plan and you put that plan into action taking certain plexes in certain systems becomes a must. Losing a plex in system you have been trying hard to capture for the last couple of weeks is unthinkable and the battles for these plexes becomes even more intense.
I think everyone who plexed against foom learnt a great deal from them how to target a certain area and how to fight tooth and nail for every plex.
So sure you can roam around and kill random people but for me that would be too meaningless now. Poeple think FW needs rewards well every time I open the map and I see all that Caldari space that used to be Gallentte thats rewarding. Yep changed the face of the map and diddnt have to shoot a single POS.

Or did you think to bring a solid mixed small gang setup of T1 cruzers, dessies a few inties and some ewar??
A fleet setup that would be an enticing challenge to our fleet, while still providing you a bit of an edge to win??
Ive been in many many 22nd fleets and can tell you we take on fights when we deem we have a fair chance of winning.
Yes we are getting good at running when we need to, but even better at staying alive and taking systems and that means we are engaging in many interesting, semi fair fights in the course of the war.

I have to say it's awesome having you guys up in BR plexing, it has given us a chance to be the "Black Rise Defensive Unit" again, and it's nice to see a Gallente corp thinking about solid plexing and not just kills. Also you guys remind me of the 22nd back in December when we moved to VV, some old experienced pilots and some new guys who are still learning deep in hostile space. I will not wish you luck because it would mean I lose my home systems but I tilt my hat to your corp.

I don't get it. I just joined the FDU today, and I'm having a hard time understanding what's wrong with plexing. It sounds like fun to me. On the militia channel people were saying it was for "stat *****s" (whatever that means), but I didn't seem to get any solid responses beyond that.
Secondly, the lack of leadership in the FDU seems to be a major factor in my opinion. The PUG mentality works against solid team building. Personally, I'd prefer to go plexing with some dedicated players that are willing to work together than go chasing down random WTs.
I'm starting to think that maybe I enlisted in the wrong militia.

nothing wrong. just very different opinions. for example i wont enter plexes cause for me its boring as hell to watch a timer go down and even more interesting for me, me standing to the caldari state is -4.8 something. yes i can train it up a bit with a social skill but then? as someone that hardly ever does mission running or npcing i`m not willing to let my standing drop too far. and whats after fw? caldari and amarr space something i "cant enter" ever again?

From my perspective the Factional Warfare mechanic is an interesting one. It has two distinct aims in my view (its important to point out this game has always been a sandbox, ie. make of it what you will, so this is simply my view...)
1) System control (whilst not giving any rewards, it certainly suggests 'winning' by having more of your colour than the enemy on the map)
2) PVP dominance (traditional stand up fights, who wins more, holds the field, mainly affecting morale & income from loot)
I personally feel that with the limited rewards offered by system capture and the cost of fleet warfare on the average pilot, you need to really take both into consideration when you decide who is 'winning' in my definition at least.
It has to be said that we as the gallente have a huge amount of work to do on the plexing side, we are being run into the ground by professional well organised teams of plexers from the caldari side, well done.
However in a stand up fight of blob vs blob the caldari cant seem the get the upper hand without some outside influence, be it private wardecs against big hitters or just avoidance techniques.
Now, im not suggesting that either side are winning, I want to make sure that is clear, but I think its worth highlighting that there are several elements to this 'game' of FW, its foolish on either side to focus on the element that we feel more comfortable with (ie. the one we are better at!).
If I as a CEO of a FW corp completely neglect plexing, more so as some of the replies here suggest, mock the results of our enemies and suggest it is not 'worth' doing, I actually leave myself quite vulnerable to my members that may actually look at this map and think, hell we suck.
Similarily, it would be quite foolish of successful plexing corporations to suggest that the large blobs can be ignored since winning systems is all that matters, since for most corps at least, beyond factional warfare the skills of large scale fleet action and performance are very much a deciding factor for success or failure.
People migrate from corporations they feel that do not offer everything they need, to box yourself off is to limit your potential. I sincerely wish factional warfare corporations and leaders would step back and look at the bigger picture once in a while.

Mitch, I live by one thing in life.
"You can't please everyone, so make sure those you do please HAVE A BLAST!"
If someone in recruitment said "I want to join WOLFY to plex" I would point out that plexing ain't what we are about. Even though we do have the 4th highest VP taker in all of FW, but then all we hear from him (Hi ash x x x) is "Man Sunday night was awesome.. WHEN CAN WE DO THAT AGAIN? just a bit later in my timezone".
I would love it if we were plexing as well as killing, turning Tama would be Soooo Funny, but thats all.. FUNNY! No benefit, no help, no difference. So why do it? I (and WOLFY) get more LULz fighting pirates, reds and even going pirate ourselves.
I respect CAIN, in the early days the Dearg v CAIN wars in BR was excellent fun. 22nd, not so much, for plexing, can't be beat but we never had a real go at each other.
WOLFY are a 40 man PvP corp. Who (as I've said many times) will use plexes to get some more fights. But if I said to my corp (BTW 20 logged in last night.. NEW RECORD!) we are going to X and I want you guys to plex I would wake up the next day with an empty corp members list and a lonely feeling in my heart.
So to those that plex GOOD FOR YOU! Its your money, go for it. But to those that plex and think your bringing us down from the inside.. I have one sentance for you .. "7 Billion ISK CNR loss? THATS GOTTA HURT! <EMO>"

At the end of the day, as long as people are having fun in FW whatever they are doing then thats all that matters.
You pay your subscription you get your fun how you want - if people prefer plexing and are good at then fair play to them. Have more fun killing people then great keep at it.
I've just moved my corp to live in Black Rise low sec with the hope of getting more smaller gang fights - Personally i much prefer killing people than plexing but, will see if we can get any fights from having a bit more of a bash at plexing and hopefully get rid of some of the Caldari s****in the process and get back some systems
Both the Caldari and Gallente have some very good corps in them (weve been in FW fighting for the Gallente for just over 8 months now) and i got to say its been a blast so far and long may it continue - As long as your enjoying doing what you do thats all that matters.

That would be what I call "incorrect". FOOM got frustrated because we were out in Black Rise capping systems while the Gallente pilots near Aeschee (what we considered home) were letting things fall to the Caldari without even trying to stop them. So we packed up and moved back home, but by then the Caldari were more organized and it was stalemate. Our pilots grew bored and we decided on a new direction with Apocrypha on the horizon.
If it wasn't clear from that paragraph, the catalyst for our boredom was the Gallente Militia's apathy for plexing. We still think plexes are a good system for FW even though we'd love to see some rewards implemented.
Originally by: CAIN Pilot When Foom lived next door to us in Black rise we would often try and goad them into a fight on a gate or at there station and quite often they would ignore us or seem to be all afk. Exactly, couldn't have said it better myself. Our goal was to cap systems in Black Rise, so our actions reflected that. Since our opponents goal was to stop us we got plenty of PvP out of it. FW is a system of conflicting goals which cause PvP to happen. If your goal is PvP then you might get one massive fleet fight each day out of it, but if your goal is taking systems you'll get plenty of smaller fights while trying to accomplish it.
Instead of running around challenging people to meet you on the playground at 3:00, try climbing to the top of the monkey bars and yelling at the top of your lungs "I bet nobody can knock me off this thing!". You'll get a fight, it's just human nature. ;) ------------- I am the n00b that time forgot. |

We bow to the superior knowledge of FOOM, of course killboards show a slightly different picture.

Edited by: EVIL SYNNs on 25/03/2009 19:02:48 Actually if you read Frieds post, well written and put together, his conclusion was simple.
For people to do it, it has to change.
IT HAS TO MEAN SOMETHING. and in the playground saying "we hold your planets", when we did nothing to get those means nothing.
FOOM captured a whole constellation (mostly) on their own. But couldn't hold it. And as you said your A.D.D. got the better of you. I understand.. IN FACT THATS WHAT I AM SAYING!
When you kill someones ship that means they have lost something they earned. When we lose a system.. I lose nothing.
If I was losing BS after BS every night, can't mission in high sec I would have to leave the Militia to get more isk. But if we lost EVERY gallente system, I would still be here pew pewing away.
Now petty name calling is not required. I've been in FW since day 1, I've plexed and I got bored. Most of WOLFY plexed at some point and went "whats the point". And I have to reply, "There is none, now grab that ceptor and kill stuff!"
And do you know how many kills I got when I plexed.. NONE! they ran, or they hid or even worse they STABBED! so no thanks, we'll poke them with a stick and see if they come out.

Not to bring this section of the debate farther. But could we please stop the "petty name calling" issues. I don't think I or any of FOOM started calling WOLFY or anyone else petty names...(won't go saying that categorically as I'm not omniscient) Well PERV invites it but that's their giggles. And as to those that have done the petty name calling. target them specifically instead of getting all heated up at the undeserved.
So please stop acting and posting as if we have, or at least lets forgive and forget in that regard.
I think all of this argument over what is fun and where the fight is in FacWar comes down to this.
FOOM et all have a definition of what FacWar is. We believe its the correct one. But, EVE is a sandbox. So if its not your definition. Well, its EVE, so play by your own definition. We still reserve the right to think its wrong and that you don't get it. However, you also think we don't get it.

We bow to the superior knowledge of FOOM, of course killboards show a slightly different picture.
You do things your way (orbit a beacon for 15mins) and we'll do it our way (small gang pvp), no need to resort to name calling is there.
You misunderstood the analogy, and I wasn't calling anybody any names. What I am saying is that if you want a fight, you might get one by roaming around and looking for one. However if you present your opponents with a challenge you won't have to go looking for one, it will come to you. Capturing plexes tells the other side "This system is mine and you can't have it" to which they will respond "ORLY" and then come and try to prove you wrong. It's nothing to do with bullies and everything to do with conflict. Creating conflict will bring battles to you, plexing is a way to do that. You can do whatever you want, it doesn't affect me, but it doesn't change the fact that plexing is a functional mechanic for creating conflict.
Originally by: EVIL SYNNS FOOM captured a whole constellation (mostly) on their own. But couldn't hold it. And as you said your A.D.D. got the better of you. I understand.. IN FACT THATS WHAT I AM SAYING!
We were in Black Rise as a forward op, in enemy territory trying to take it from them. While doing so the Gallente Militia proved that they would not or could not hold the home territory. We left Black Rise to go home and start taking back that territory. By that time the Caldari had become more organized and several corps were working together. Between burnout and A.D.D. or whatever we ended up in a stalemate and since the Gallente Militia still wasn't doing much to help we decided it was time to move on. ------------- I am the n00b that time forgot. |

Your dating my mother?> yeah facts are..
We attacked a small POS in tama who we knew was a caldari alt corp. We put it into reinforced (very little defense). It came out at silly time on Sunday morning. We called an alarm clock op (or in most cases a all nighter bender). About 3 hours before it came out of reinforced with all the caldari repping the guns and stuff BYDI hot dropped. However they left and logged out (we were watching them).
Then the fight on the station where 27 Other Galletes and 14 WOLFY had a fight (I won't say how many, but we were out numbered) but being up all night we needed to do something.
The alt corp then put up a LARGE POS with lots of guns. Which I'm pleased to announce has now been left defenseless as we have incappacitated all the guns, web, scram, neuts. And started shooting the POS.
Hoping for the fight ... No fight 8-( So we will go back to shooting anything trying to rep it. Until such a time as we deem.
Dem the facts about the POS. Oh yeah alt corp.. have a look in Kedama WE HAS A POS THERE TOO.. wonder what we needing that for? MOON MINING HERE WE COME \0/ will your caldari army help you defend that nice valued moon.. Lets see!

Simply stating that the number of pilots in the Caldari militia is the reason for any Gallente misgivings is a gross example of someone looking for useless excuses. Not only is the Caldari militia bloated with inactive characters and some corps filled to the brim with alts and carebears, but any number refering to active pilots on at any given time is a misrepresentation of the true number of milita members willing to do anything.
I call it the "10 Percent Rule", where in at any given time only a 1/10th faction of the militia would be willing to participate in an operation. This Rule, is of course excluding those solo/plexers which have been curb stomping across space as of late.
I do not think the Gallente Militia is doing badly, quite the opposite in certain encounters, however I cannot say they are doing very well either. From a Fleet vs Fleet perspective, both sides are generally dead locked. Where as, a certain level of engagment fear has gripped both sides, prompting both to do things which eliminate the possibity of a battle happening. The Gallente fleets in the "blob" category, happen only at random times throughout the week, usually consisting of only heavy tank/damage ships, which exceed the fleet size of a rapid response force, leading to the Gallente becoming bored and returning home before the counter fleet arrives. The majority of Gallente operations within the last few weeks have been imprompto carrier based engagments in Heyd, which usually end as quickly as they start when the carrier docks and the support does the same or bugs out.
Caldari fleets tend to happen every night around the same times, with slight fleet size increases depending on the day of the week. More battles have been waged between pirate fleets and the Caldari, than the Gallente and Caldari this month. It is hardly a matter of convience, when many of these pirate fights have occured deep within Gallente controlled space itself. The lack of fights to be had has in some cases driven the Caldari to find other targets to try their hand in, such as POS warfare, which I would agree is a massive waste of time (and ships). However, dispite the rather extensive fleet operational time the Caldari up hold, good fights are few and far between, esspecially on the Gallente front. (Fleet fights > Ganking) but even this is a personal opinion I suppose.
So hopefully it changes soon, fighting pirates is all well and good, but it doesn't give that same feeling I guess. Its been fun either way, just throwing in my two cents.

I thought most Complexes were just a type of Arena where new players could gather in Tech 1 Frigs and not have to worry about being slaughtered by HACs and BS. CCP have come up with a way to produce a level playing field and fair fights by limiting Ship sizes.
Who holds what System is irrelevant. There are no rewards for success and no penalties for failure associated with Complexes. They really do serve no other purpose other than to get a fight. While it may be an achievement to capture Verge Vendor it does not really make much of a difference to anyone involved other than some different coloured dots on the Map.

However the FW lag causes people not to join up. Each side have those that plex and those that pvp. Each side has those that Only plex and those that Only pvp. Each side wants FW Missions and Plexes to be worth something, or in some way effect the other side. Each side agrees FW is an ISK sink. Each side LOVES the 5000+ War Targets they have.
and not just FW its the same every where FC's rarely say "no more X's" If your side is out numbered you always fight, but the other way around they always run (thats everyones thinking, but for it to be true it has to be rubbish).
so I see this as a great war. FW is GREAT, the people are GREAT! The pew pew is GREAT! As for the status, Caldari are winning systems, Gallente are killing more (isk wise) Gallente has a higher kill/vp per member but in Eve that means nothing.
But as the Caldari capture more systems it means more systems behind them can be taken back. LOGISTICS LOGISTICS LOGISTICS.

I recently joined Faction Warfare.
After some indecision about fitting and which Gallente AF to chose I decided upon an Enyo for speedtanking anything above Minor plexes. I went into my first Major to test the tank, for approximately 1 minute, nothing shot at me. I seem to recall reading that if you had high Caldari standing then they wouldn't agro? (I still had about 5.0 after grinding minnie missions for a while) However after the minute passed... in come the missiles.. they have agro'd me just fine in every plex I have done since.
I assume thats what you were talking about when you refer to her abusing her standings. Maybe i'm missing something.

If you have high-enough standings, you can fly around in minor/med plexes without trouble. I tested these with an alt and had no problem grinding few plexes since I did not get shot at. However, in major plexes the NPCs seem to aggro you, at least unless you have Caldari standing through the roof.
For example, me and corpie were in Tama plex when pirate rapier uncloaked. We decided to try to engage with NPC support but they did not shoot which sort of ruined our efforts.
So yes, I find the standing bug really bad. NPCs in plexes should attack all neutrals and wartargets entering, no matter what.

Last night saw the unveiling of the WOLFY/Gallente Black Ops Fleet in Heyd.
We asked for as many Bomber/ZU pilots as possible and got a fleet of 20.
We sent out the zu's with they covert cyno on to go and find us a fight as we hanged around in base system.
First scout reports large caldari fleet. Too large, so we move on (pirates, squids, were not picky). However the next intel was large BS heavy Pirate fleet about to jump into Heyd.
So we get the cyno zu into position, and await the 3 way.
Pirates warp to OMS gate, Caldari engage bait Maelstrom. And we cyno drop in 12 Bombers 100 off the gate (assuming the pirates would spread their points).
We primary a Drake (calling it alphabetical) and it goes down quite nicely. Then we move on, however by now the caldari have started to shoot us.. HELLO? 30+ Battleships shooting you? Why you shooting and moving towards bombers.
Anyways, the Caldari have to run (well out numbered by the pirates). And we cloak off and try and gank those running around looking to get out.
We lost a few bombers (not sure if the lag why they never warped out) but its fun and a new toy for WOLFY to play with.

Evil
I have to agree 100% with Evil here. No matter how much we moan about the enemy and the state of our own militia, the enemy is doing exactly the same. The 10% rule that someone in the Caldari militia is quite true, but it applies for all 4 militia, not just the Caldari. The only real advantage the Caldari have (ignoring the EW, as anyone can train it) is strength of numbers.
The one thing I do find amusing is that recently, it appears that the Gallente are making more of an effort to plex, whereas the Caldari have suddenly started to send out massive fleets, whereas this was the other way around just a few weeks ago. I wonder if we'll start moaning about Caldari 'blobs' and they'll start moaning about Gallente 'cowards' that would rather plex than fight.
I am doing more plexing than I used to, although mainly because there doesn't appear to be as many PvP fleets as there used to be. I prefer the PvP, but I'm not adverse to the plexing. The priorities might well change if there were actual consequences to holding strategic points, and this is kind of why plexing has always been a little one-sided.
As I see it, the two main issues with Factional Warfare are the lag and the lack of consequence for plexing. If CCP tinker with these aspects and improve them, I'm sure we'll see much more activity.
Another idea just hit me, too. In regards to the '10% active' issue, why don't we have flags we can set so that if we are ready for duty, we appear in the militia channel, whereas if we out replenishing our ISK, we don't show. That way, we would have a better idea of what resources we have available at any given time.

Now that's citing precedent.
However, let us remember that these are individual opinions, and I'm sure they could find forums where certain Gallente militia members have stated the same things.
Let's not get hung up on lambasting the other side and try to concentrate on encouraging PvP.
Just had another idea: why not have a salary for each rank within the militia, where the higher you go, the greater the wage. But the trade off is that the amount of territory held determines the percentage of that salary you are entitled to receive. In addition to this, you would only be entitled to receive a salary if you are actively participating in FW, although the measure of this would have to be debated (say either a plex captured or a kill made in the space of 1 week). I think that would encourage more PvP, although territory would have to be reset on implementation to avoid one side having too much of an advantage.

Plexing does not need more rewards. It is like any other pvp but you can not get instant 'win' feeling it comes by time after all Gallente systems has turned to Caldari. Then we can say Gallente got owned. No matter if you have more kills or not. You have still betrayed your people and failed to defend you systems.

Well, you can boast that you have 'owned' the Gallente, but if there is no consequence to this, then it is a hollow boast and nothing more. We could quite easily boast that we have killed more ships over time, and that at least has some impact on Caldari resources.
And if you're solely 'playing to win', you will eventually be disappointed, as there will be no end to this war (and any resolution would render the game a little less fun). Play to win, sure, but you are meant to be primarily having fun.

ROFL you have to love roleplayers don't you.
So doing something that has absolutely no effect on the game or the war other than to change the display in the top left corner of your screen is more important than actually fighting a war by killing your enemies ships? All you gals are doing is hurting of the resources of the Caldarian blobs. They have proven to have very little impact on the larger war. I could not help but feeling sad that there where no counter force to this situation, for I respect a good challenger and a solid fight.
Plexing is a means to and end that is rewarding, just take that as a given.
Its obvious that yes we each have our own Pvp styles, and so be it, but really boys what are our pvp options?
Gate camping? Or station games, both with the maxi gank and avoidance of said pawnage eating up all you tactical strategic problem solving??
Blob fleets with lagged out primary calling turkey shoots?
How the frack can I begin to tell you about the cool dynamic tactical situations that have presented themselves to my corp mates and I while plexing and taking systems?
Im still amazed at how challenging it is to pvp in plexes with T1 ships in small gangs. As an Fc here and there, it is such a blast to make the most with the ships at hand as the opposing fleet compositions are so often just balanced enough to justify a fight, given the ship class restrictions on the plex gates.
Truly inspired game mechanic plex ship class restrictions are. And one that pvp players often misunderstand and or are unwilling to use to force interesting battles to happen around.
I could go on but am starting to realize that if you have to explain it to them..... well?
Onward

Plexing does not need more rewards. It is like any other pvp but you can not get instant 'win' feeling it comes by time after all Gallente systems has turned to Caldari. Then we can say Gallente got owned. No matter if you have more kills or not. You have still betrayed your people and failed to defend you systems.
Keep fighting without cause, we know what we want and you and your friends can not prevent it with your attitude. You are not making money in fw you are defending your people.
ROFL you have to love roleplayers don't you.
So doing something that has absolutely no effect on the game or the war other than to change the display in the top left corner of your screen is more important than actually fighting a war by killing your enemies ships? Bah you know I've grown tired of this arguement, infact I bow to your amazing victories, caldari are truely the kings of factionwar.
Now we've got that over with anyone fancy a fight?
You can have fight in almost every plex PERVS enter.
Like these:
http://pervs.pingtimeout.net/?a=kill_related&kll_id=13055 http://pervs.pingtimeout.net/?a=kill_related&kll_id=13014
And lot of more.. Plexing does not mean that there is no pvp or fun. I had fun on those both fights. You guys just have to open your eyes and see what is beyond Tama. Main idea in faction warfare is to capture and defend plexes and fight for them. Why you are in militia at 1st place if you are not interested of it?

Until your Militia stop giving us kills in Tama why would we leave? We get more kills in tama/caladri high sec than any other militia corp ANYWHERE.
So why leave? As for FW. 5000+ war targets, plenty to kill, plenty to do.
We may even plex just to see how easy it is. Won't that be fun for your guys.. Doing defensive plexes in TAMA \0/

As i said earlier, your attitude lead to Caldari victory. I do not care if you guys camp in Tama 23/7 and get some easy kills. War is going somewhere else and while you sit in Tama our job to conquer rest of gallente systems is much easier.
Life is making choices, some lead to victory some lead to defeat.

In the last 2 months that 22nd decided to focus on capturing plexes in VV.
We managed to get about 1300 kills.
I dont know if that is allot or not compared to the Tama/OMS bloobs.
But what is important is that almost all of these kills happened in exciting and balanced fights. Between small gangs in a lag free environment. Fights that can go either way at all times. Fights where each and every member of the gang is an important part of the whole. Not just a statistic in the blob.
Fighting over complexes, with ship restrictions and such, is unique to FW. You cant get that scenario anywhere else in Eve.

Confirming fighting DARK is fun, all the metagaming and smacktalk(guess who lol) put aside. You lose some you win some. And it happens INSIDE the plexes too.
Oh and props to 11D too.

But we in WOLFY do not like balanced fights .
We like fighting outnumbered.
It give us more targets to kill.

It looks like CCP are trying to get Caldari and Gallente militia into some sort of Event. Both groups have the following messages on news page of the militia office.
Caldari ::: TRANSMISSION FROM STATE PROTECTORATE COMMAND :::
::: TO ALL STATE PROTECTORATE CAPSULEERS :::
The State Protectorate command issues their compliments to the militia in the recent re-securing of the Black Rise region.
The Gallente's Federal Defense Union militia has called for the siege of two sovereign Caldari systems, Raihbaka and Martoh, in the Inolari constellation of Black Rise. They maintain the false pretense of stolen equipment as a justification for a fresh push into the region. This is a blatant aggression on their part purely to secure mineral assets urgently required for civilian development projects and industrial applications in the Black Rise region.
Intelligence has intercepted a leaked communication that the Federation Navy have a small window of opportunity for their plans to succeed. As of today, this window stands at fifteen days.
Objective is as follows: To prevent the Gallente taking control of the Raihbaka and Martoh systems by any means necessary.
This is an attack on our civilian populous, as well as on our integrity, and shall not go unanswered. No mercy for enemies of the State!
Gallente ::: TRANSMISSION FROM FDU COMMAND :::
::: TO ALL FEDERATION DEFENCE UNION CAPSULEERS :::
The Federation Navy has passed on their gratitude to all active FDU pilots for their commendable efforts so far in combating the Caldari forces.
At the request of the Federal Navy regional operations, the FDU Command is issuing a general call to arms for capsuleer militia forces to target the Caldari systems of Raihbaka and Martoh located in the Inolari constellation, Black Rise.
Objective is as follows: To secure space occupancy and clear the way for Federation Navy search and capture teams to locate stolen military equipment.
The Federation Navy has assigned a sixteen day window of opportunity to this campaign, starting from the time of this message.
Maybe those systems have been given more juice? Who knows what it means. Lots of pilots have been complaining about FW recently and that it was not being given any attention by CCP. I urge all players to get to those sytems and see what is occuring.
