Rule of Five The Junta

Mission
The mission of Rule of Five is to be the premier organization for mature, thoughtful, and focused individuals who value competitive online play within a structure catering to working adults. We are open to any player who meets our values test (outlined below) who is 21 years and older. We recruit only players who have a paid account, trial accounts are not accepted.
History
We started this journey as a gaming group in April, 2008. The CEO was a refugee from Empire PVP and big alliance 0.0 politics. The initial inspiration was to find a simpler gaming style, good mature people to game with, and to focus on meaningful team goals. From there we built a team of leaders, recruited a good group of core players and began working towards our goals. Rule of Five is a new corporation created from old corporations.
The first year was very successful, though it was filled with what would seem endless wars, a betrayal, and tireless conversations about the future of the organization and our future in EVE. Although trying times test people, they also reveal character; the team is stronger and more committed to our principles. After a year in the corporation growth grinder we have consolidated several corporations into one house and created a 0.0 PVP wing to provide that gaming experience. Rule of Five is the foundation corporation for our new alliance, "The Junta", and operates under five core principles.
The Five Principles
Rule 1: Maturity Gaming. We are a gaming group dedicated to older members. We advertise to the working, studying, family oriented gamer that doesn't have time for meaningless e-peen measuring, psycho, megalomaniacal leaders, nor rampant juvenile stupidity. We offer a reasonably clean environment of good, solid people. We do specify a minimum age of 21 to enter the corporation but exceptions can be made if a justification is demonstrated.
Rule 2: Real Life Is Real. We realize for some hardcore gamers real life is what you have to do between gaming sessions to pay for electricity and Ramen noodles. Our focus is a little different; we encourage and want our members to take care of: the job, the home, and the children, and when extra time is available have fun with us. We are very understanding and tolerant of peopleÆs real lives and will make any reasonable accommodation to help.
Rule 3: Leaders Listen. As adults, we want our voice heard, we want our say in decisions and that need is respected. Most decisions are made on Ventrilo or after lengthy forum discussion. Decisions that are pressing, urgent, or critical are made by the leaders as needed. Responsibility comes with authority, but as adults we discuss everything that can be discussed.
Rule 4: Openness. Our organization does not focus on what "kind" of person you are, we accept anyone who finds our values appealing. We accept any type of person onto our team, regardless of your background. Our core commitment is that games are escape from the hassles of the real world, we try hard not to let them interrupt our fun.
Rule 5: A Player's Community. The primary goal in any online gaming group is to have fun and to do that we must know our members. We ask everyone to use the Ventrilo voice software and our forums to participate in the community. Our PVP team requires Ventrilo communication for maximum effectiveness. We understand that there are reasons when you cannot use voice communications or the forums but we ask that you use them whenever you can. We want to avoid the "I don't know you after a year" problem.

Mission
The mission of Rule of Five is to be the premier organization for mature, thoughtful, and focused individuals who value competitive online play within a structure catering to working adults. We are open to any player who meets our values test (outlined above) who is 21 years and older. We recruit only players who have a paid account, trial accounts are not accepted.
EVE Mission
Our goal in EVE is to see The Junta as a deep space holding alliance. We are focused on building the team internally and expanding laterally as our needs and capabilities expand. Rule of Five is primarily an Empire organization where as our sister corporation is a pure 0.0 organization. Rule of Five is open to any member regardless of your previous in game experience. Once you join we have two primary divisions: Security and Engineering.
Security Division
This division focuses on training new players in combat by preparing them for PVE elements: mission running, belt ratting, exploration, and worm-hole space to assist in making money. The division also provides basic training in PVP and engages in low security and deep space roaming fleets to test tactics and build enjoyment. Activities the Security division engages in:
- PVE Training - PVP Training - Complexes - Exploration - Level 1 to 5 Missions - Low Sec ratting - 0.0 PVP Roaming
Engineering Division
The engineering division is the refuge for players who want to build and create within the game. This division pools the industrial talent of our players and uses a shares system to reward them for their hard work. Activities that the Engineering division engages in:
- Mining Operations - Ice Mining - Gas Cloud Harvesting - Invention - Hacking, Archeology, and Exploration - Tech 1 Production - Tech 2 Production - Trading - Science and Research - Logistics
0.0 Division (A Different Corp)
This division of accepts members who have a minimum of 10 Million skill points and who have the skills necessary to earn money. The deep space team focuses almost exclusively on PVP, where both large fleets and roaming gangs are used. If you are working towards a 0.0 or PVP career we can make the transition easy. If you are interested in a 0.0 dwelling corp let us know and we cna put you into contact with another set of recruiters.
Recruitment
If you think our organization can meet your needs please contact us in game. Our recruitment and public channel is JUNTA. Our recruiters can help walk you through the application process. We have offices in every major region in EVE. Follow up question are greatly appreciated, please contact us in game.

I'm still pretty new to RoF, but this corp has been great. Everyone has been very helpful. I haven't felt left out because I'm still new to Eve. There is a very motivated and active core of players and an active forum. I hope to be here for the long haul.

Hey Rivven! How've you been? I've come back to EvE after I saw the new probing system and promptly started drooling. I don't know if your current operations would actually be a fit for me, but I thought I'd drop you a line (and a bump)!
That said, let me state that I spent quite some time with these guys and I can tell you that you could not wish for a more mature, friendly, and dynamic bunch of corp mates with a CEO who is the very embodiment of the concept of stable leadership. ùùùùùùùùùùùùùùùùùùùùùù Un fol enseigne bien un sage. ùRabelais

I read an article on mmorpg.com and I think it was very similar to the Rule of Five, is this the same person or just a coincidence?
How many people would you say are Active during the EST time zone?

Edited by: Buthepan on 27/03/2009 21:04:42 I'm interested in a mature-ish player org - I'm very new to EVE but a veteran of the MMO scene. I'm moving away from WoW, where I've been an officer in my guild for about 3 years. Looking for a direction to take Buthepan, and an opportunity to work in a group with people roughly in my timeslot. I am friendly, very rarely accused of being a "serious" person (though I take fulfilling my role in a group very seriously), and I love working as a team. I'm also easily impressed by literacy.
So questions.... 1. You take fresh off the boat newbies like myself? I'm not on trial account, but still floundering about looking for some direction while I build up some core skills and some capital. 2. How many members do you have? How would you describe the atmosphere? 3. What's your vetting process for new members? 4. If I sign on at 7pm PST, what's usually going on? 5. Do you have a website? Do you schedule events ahead of time?
Thanks!

It's possible, we've had articles written about the clan but if you send me a link in game I can tell you specifically.
We have a healthy U.S./CAN presence, contact me in game for specifics but the range will be between 15 and 30 __________________________ CEO - Rule of Five Alliance Leader

1. Yes we take new characters as long as your not a trial account. We'll be happy to help out a new player with advice and assistance.
2. I'd describe the atmosphere as similar to a work crew after they are off the clock and enjoying a beer at the local watering hole. The core guys are in their 30's with the range being from 25 to 55 so a good bit of variety. Our numbers are 80+ and we keep between 15 and 30 guys online.
3. Speak to me in game about the vetting process.
4. at 7pm PST we are usually in the middle of mission ops, or whatever 'scheduled op' is happening. Officers are typically doing their thing, recruiting, logistics, production, etc.
5. Website, yes. We do have some scheduled events for example this weekend we have a frigate 'king of the ring' with a prize. We also have another prize/competition for creating an alliance logo. __________________________ CEO - Rule of Five Alliance Leader

We have been running some W space operations, I'll be honest and say that we won't be packing up and moving to W space and trying to live life on the fringe but we do use the resource. We had a W space op just last night. Get with me and I'll lay out the full plan for you. __________________________ CEO - Rule of Five Alliance Leader

Hello,
I'm glad I took the time to browse through the forums at work today. Tonight will be my 3rd night playing EVE as I finish the tutorial missions and get past that point in the game. I've been looking for a corporation and am pleased to hear that you'll not mind taking in someone fresh off the boat.
I would like to know if someone as new to EVE as I am would have a better time of it getting started with eve university or if I would be more comfortable joining with your corporation instead? I'm 23 with 2 jobs, a wife and baby, so you can imagine I don't have a whole lot of free time to play. I am actually here because I'm quitting playing the eternal treadmill that is WoW. I've been an endgame Raider in EQ/WoW for the last 9 years, and frankly don't have time for that kind of an in game commitment any more. To top it off, it gets old fast when you have so much more to take care of in RL :)
It's nice to see a group here that recognizes and accepts that.
So, think I would be a good fit for you guys? I'm really enjoying EVE so far. After I'm done with the tutorial missions, I'll probably be poking around with questions and looking for new friends. Did I just find a few? "Life is pleasant. Death is peaceful. It's the transition that's troublesome." |

Excellent Organization. Fair treatment for new players. Vast game knowledge and experience. In place strategies to get newer players involved and progressing through the game. One of the best out there for new and old players alike.
Wormholes, level 4's, mining ops, pvp training and experience; what else could a player want?

I've been with these guys for two weeks and it's a great environment to game in. There are players scattered over a large range of wealth and experience. "Noobs" are given a helping hand if they need it to get their footing, and for those building their careers there seems to be opportunity for growth in every direction, whether you like crunching rocks, manufacturing, or crunching ships. For those non-trolls looking for a mature gaming experience that doesn't interfere with your real-life, this is the place.

Excellent, I'll look for you in game tonight. I'm at work right now so I can't do much else.
On a side note, I'm curious as to how Corporations work. In other MMO games, I've viewed bannered player groups as a crew of people you "party" with to run a dungeon or team up with a lot of "guildies" to take out a difficult target (ie raid bosses). I know in eve corps are much, much, much more diverse in how they operate.
What is the "in a nutshell" of what you can do with a corp beyond team up for fun and have friendly folks to talk to? or am I asking the wrong thing in the wrong topic :P
I wonder if I could get EVE working on my new iPhone :P That would be cool. "Life is pleasant. Death is peaceful. It's the transition that's troublesome." |

There is a lot of flexibility in EVE regarding corporate operations. The opennes of the game allows for a lot of variety from "mercenary teams" to sophisticated financial operations to just social clubs. The possibilities are endless, really. If you go to eve-search.com and query the database you'll find a lot of examples of various corp uses.
Looking forward to chatting with you in game __________________________ CEO - Rule of Five Alliance Leader

I have been with the Rule of Five for only a few days and I have encounter multiple corporations (either as a member or working close by) and I assure you that there isn't another corporation equal to the mission, intent, or the future goals. This is a well organized and has leaders willing to assist the new and the old!

My husband and I are looking for a low sec guild that will provide us with an opportunity to PVP (mainly for my husband) and to engage in some more industry/mining related aspects of the game (more for me).
We would be interested in speaking with a recruitment officer in our ventrilo server - if someone has time, please message me in game so we can set up a time to chat about your corp. and what we are looking for in a corp.

We'll be glad to speak to you, join us in JUNTA channel. In fairness to you, I would like to clarify one point. We do recognize that EVE is a game, but it's a game that has commanded our attention, respect and energy for several years. We play hard, we are serious about our in game goals, we just have a healthy respect for people having the correct priorities in life.

Thanks for the interest. We have an office in every major region in the game, over 24 regions in all, so there is an office close to you. Our area of operations may very well be several jumps from where your currently gaming, and we require people to work/live in the same area as everyone else; something to consider. Finally, the api is very simple it's a matter of cutting and pasting but I understand why some players are hesitant. Yet, the api requirement is non-negotiable. Join us in the JUNTA channel and one of our recruiters will help you with travel, api or anything else you need to make a good decision about joining a corp. __________________________ CEO - Rule of Five Alliance Leader

They have been very beneficial in educating me in the way of Eve. Never make anyone feel stupid for asking simple questions.
I'm so glad I joined, I think they made the difference between me staying in Eve or moving on to a different mmo.

Hi Guys,
I must say the corp sounds interesting. I'm just returning to Eve and looking for a place to play without having to be online 24 hrs a day. I'm skilled fairly alround, but mainly into Gallente ships and weapons with basic mining, industry skills and probing skills. My interest are also fairly broad.
I do have some questions: - what regions do you currently operate in - is the manufacturing division also active in Gallente ships (and gear) - what are the long term goals you mentioned

I've been with the corp just about 3 weeks now and have nothing but great things to say. We run missions constantly, whether it be mining or missioning. There've also been WSpace ops to get people to see and experience wormhole life if they haven't done so yet, PVP training on how to fit and operate your ships to be more effective when needed. Plus... people actually talk on our vent. :) Always nice to have people to chat too if you decide to do things solo without the rest of the corp. :)

My wife, Kesha Cachet, and I joined this Corp recently and it's lived up to ALL our expectations. Plenty of people online at all hours that we're on, very knowledgable folks who provide well-organized training (I took part in a 3-hour PVP course last weekend that was followed by a 30-man PvP roam in 0.0 afterwards). Regular mining ops, and other ops (wspace, etc) happening less frequently, but enough to keep me busy.
If you're looking for a well-led, well organized, and friendly Corp with a mature membership, rational policies and no BS or drama, this is worth a serious look. . . Vex & Kesha Cachet . Greetings, I kinda got dragged into EVE online when members of my gaming clan started playing EVE. Sadly the one who talked me into it soon left to start his own corp, major drama after that. I took over CEO of the corp and tbh the majority of the clan joined in. About a year after that the clan broke up. There where a few still in the clan playing eve but there in college, real life forcing them to not play or move on. So its now the wife and me for all intents and purposes and we still run our corp. But I am looking for a group to join for the social aspect and tbh to have fun. I do take the game seriously, maybe too much so. The wife has expressed her desire to see more of the game so I am interested after reading your introduction.
We are at present in Domain/Devoid, we have an office in Yuzier, we started out in Thiarer many moons ago. I have a lot of questions and if chatting with someone of vent is possible that would be awesome.
Thanks

I've been in this corp for a few weeks now and what a difference it has made. A very active membership at all times of the day, I can log on at 5am EST (when I get up for work) and find a conversation or I can play all through the night on Friday with large groups of people.
If you are looking for an adult gaming group, and are interested in team play and working towards common goals, sign up here -- you won't be disappointed.

First day in I get access to WH ops, hunting sleepers. PVP roam in low sec and some mining ops with my other alts. With the corp head count growing on a daily basis, access to forums and vent, you'll always have some players to associate with.
I've been in an alliance before that was smaller than this corp, if you want action and some mature players look no further!

Edited by: Ka''ill on 30/04/2009 21:39:19 Well this sounds like my type of Corp. A bunch of old farts, so I should fit in nicely! I have been playing for over a year but I have started a new alt to test the waters in PvP. (I am somewhat bored of my past Carebear ways). From what I am reading it sounds like there might be the opportunity for some fun learning experiences. Ka'ill is only about 2.5 days old right now but training quickly (it is nice when you can purchase all the learning skills and some nice implants). How often is there opportunity to learn PvP and is there a group that ventures into that realm of things on a regular basis? I will log onto the chat and introduce myself.
I am on MST time. (GMT-6) Many from that zone?

This is, as you've read a very mature group with the emphasis on dedication and fun. I have learned so much about the game since joining RoF, that my interest in the game is increasing daily! I am constantly surprised at how much there is that I don't know, and at the wealth of knowledge coming from my corp. mates.
Real, group, fun.

Hi ye two friends of mine have recently joined RoF and seem to be really enjoying it. I would love to join but I don't meet the minimum age requirements. Is it the entire alliance that is age restricted or just the corp? If the alliance is more lenient are there any other corps within it that would be happy to accept me? Love this corp. Great bunch of people, motivated and organized, but also a hell of a lot of fun. The perfect mix of laid back and intense. Always something to do, someone knowledgable to talk with, great personal rapport across the board. It may be a big corp but it maintains a tight-knit feel with lots of advancement opportunities regardless of time in game.
If you are a working adult looking for a balanced approach to EVE gameplay (more than just casual, but with no 30 hour gatecamps), this is definitely the place for you.
Can't see myself being anywhere else. Keep up the great work everyone. o7

- Our vent server keeps needing to be upgraded.
- Our forums get more active each time we bump this thread.
- We've added a (members only) STEAM Group for members of the JUNTA (I won't advertise the non-EVE activities beyond that)
- We hold classes to help new players learn how they can enjoy EVE
- We have a number of web developers working on web tools to make EVE activities easier (calculators, exploring tools, recruiting tools and a new storefront soon to help buyers and sellers make the best decisions in areas of pricing.)
- Regular (weekly) activities both planned and spontaneous
Put simply, the best social group in any MMO I've ever belonged to. A place for reasonable people to hang out and have fun. --- "All of us who are concerned for peace and triumph of reason and justice must be keenly aware how small an influence reason and honest good will exert upon events in the political field" - A.E. |

I spent a looong time watching my boyfriend play - I thought it looked like a total bore, real snoozer of a game (He looked at me one day and said "I think my computer froze up . . . " I asked "How can you tell?")
But then, I got interested in the Junta Eve Community - Specifically, the Rule of Five Community.
This is a great bunch of people; mature, interesting, and dedicated, with an understanding of the Real Life demands that confront their MANY, MANY memebers, and an ever-growing community cohesion. It was this community that sucked me in, more than anything that my boyfriend could have said or done!
So, two months later, here I am - still loving it - and missing it when I can't play . . . Because the Junta is the GREATEST bunch of people!! Thanks, all, for letting me join this fantasic group!!
btw - bump! =)

Hi, I am looking to join a corp where people actually do things or talk once in a while. I am a new player and I am hoping to join a group to do things. I don't quite know exactly I am in gallante space ingame.
I live in the eastern US, I work 40 hours a week, so I am usually online from around 6:00 to 10:00pm EST. I am in my early 30s. I would appreciate it if I could be invited the Junta chat at least to hear the type of things players are doing.
