Oddly i seem to buck the trend on this
Met 2 people at the place i used to work 2-3 years ago who played eve, a project manager and a support engineer both started independently of each other - about 500 people in that building
Also met a person at a party once ... one of those 4am "wtf we talk about now" kinda deals
A couple of my mates have relatives who play
Finally I was on a customer site once and one of the techies saw the eve icon on my laptop
So you may not be as alone as you think

Apart from corpys I have met up with, and my friend I introduced 4 years ago now. There has been 2 guys in my uni classes and a random girl in a night club with a quarf t-shirt on!! Needless to say Awesome!

lol. My friend got me to join, but I wanted to be a pirate and once he saw my negative security status he stopped talking to me. In game and IRL. Not a joke, I was kinda mad for a while. Then I laughed at the whole situation. The friend doesn't play eve anymore, probably too hard for him 
I read the forums assuming there are no trolls, only really stupid people.

there was a guy in my old corp who went to my school at the same time i did.
but we decided that to keep game and real life separate we'd never disclose who we were.
i do wonder sometimes who it could have been...

There was someone at my last workplace that I overheard talking about EVE once. Never talked to them though...
I wouldn't ever approach anyone wearing an EVE shirt either.

I know half of the people in my corp in real life. The CEO and Founder are friends of mine and married. Three of my friends play [in the corp], and the guy that sits next to me at work is a Goon. [And yes I still talk to him] Most of us have been around since the beginning of the game.

The school thing reminds me. One of my friends in school always used to make fun of me for playing EVE. Well, he moved away to California and guess what? He got addicted to EVE. Well ****, son. If only you listened to me sooner...

I am the only person in my group of friends that plays EVE. However after having talked to some folks in game I've discovered that there is another person in my home town that plays.

Get tattoo's about EVE. You'd be suprised how many people see them and stop you. Mine are on the inside of my forearms. Not easy to see, and folks STILL stop me. :) Usually while waiting in line at stores.

I have met a few, but then I'm an IT trainer so i meet lots of gamers. The most interesting one was the father of a Capital pilot for a rather Large/Famous southern alliance (a couple of years ago now). He didn't know i played EVE. The conversations I had with him about what was going on behind the scenes were a real eye-opener.

I've worked with 4 people who play eve and I know at least one guy outside of work too.
But then I'm a game developer so the numbers of geeks I meet regularly is vastly increased.

Once met a fellow eve player through a friend. He made a joke about the band of brothers "Disband" thinking nobody would get it. Much hilarity ensued when i replied to it. |

I work for a software reseller in support and while talking to one of the software vendors support guys, discovered that at least 3 of them there played Eve.

About 6 I works with play some are in same corp some in other corps .
My son has introduced several to game
Have met 1 or 2 over the years that play the game
So yeah know a few in rl lol
