It exposes the lunacy of what people thought was was healthy and unhealthy, and how repression was the order of the day. It includes quite a few references to 'womb massage'. Despite being a comedy, a lot of it was based in reality, and the medical treatments were simply bizarre.

Far too many people are still quite repressed, and there are far too many people who still see this subject as taboo and somehow 'wrong'. Large organisations, such as religions and governments still cling on to archaic thinking, and see sex as something that can only be done in a 'productive' way. This has changed over time, and now they are a little more grudgingly accepting in that it is now okay to enjoy sex, as long as it is still kept behind closed doors, and done with the moral permission of those in authority. There is a further obstacle in the fact that people do have very individual viewpoints. Some people can say they're very open, but are far more repressed than they would ever admit too. Why do you think so much casual sex is done when people are drunk? It's because they want to, but can't bring themselves to do it when sober. This is unfortunate, because drunk sex is more likely to create problems than be enjoyable. Other people can say they want one thing and mean another, such as the person who intially appears to be interested in casual sex and then turns into psycho-commitment bunny-boiler. In summary, there's nothing wrong with casual sex, as long as you take precautions, and don't hurt anyone. The only problems that exist with sex are the ones we have made for ourselves. Both men and women enjoy sex in equal measure, but the views we have been brought up with skew our view of something that should be naturally enjoyed like any other part of our biological imperatives. All that said, sex is not the be all and end all. It's fun, no denying that, but it becomes less of an obsession once you get out of your early twenties. There are plenty of things to enjoy in life, and plenty of things to see. Enjoy sex whenever you can, but don't be ruled by it.
