I'll put an end to speculation. PMS recently made attempts at capturing the station system in PNQ. A fairly successful initial tower deployment was met with heavy resistance by the combined forces of the Fountain coalition made up of PL, SOT, Arcane, Event Horizon, and some hangars on. The resistance was strong. The history of PMS and the corps in it has always been to fight under asymmetrical odds, despite being outnumbered, but somewhere along the line, that changed. Reasons why have been extensively debated. Our goals in PNQ were satisfied despite the substantial loss in towers and ships; we gained sovereignty in D4KU, PL was pulled back from Delve momentarily, etc. After two weeks of relative quiet, we had a CEO meeting yesterday which was apparently only half productive. It didn't go the way I had hoped but there was generalized agreement that there was a problem (right - what was my first clue?) and some agreement on how to fix it. Core of it is, our pilots aren't Xing because they feel they'll be hotdropped by PL or outnumbered at any occassion, and we're sure there are other reasons besides. I think that's honestly kind of ludicrous since it's been MOSTLY SOT around, and I think we can beat SOT with even or slightly outnumbered odds, though I can't disagree with the general premise that we seem to frequently get more than we bargained for. We were evenly split on whether to stay in Fountain or leave, and stay doing POS warfare or leave. SOT suggests that we should fight when outnumbered 2 or 3 to 1. That sounds great on paper and as an FC I wouldn't necessarily be opposed. But a large portion of the newer parts of our alliance were not as prepared to make that kind of investment in ships, and all the new faces and FCs made people nervous. A lack of confidence started to develop. Even the older corps who had the resources to make the investment kind of chose to go with the flow. It's a very hard situation to fix as everyone has to be inspired to do the right thing. There were significant arguments in leadership recently around the status of a few of the corps and actions taken by corps in the alliance. I know CAOD wants the dirt and unfortunately, I will not be the one to provide it, you'll have to get your rumors and insinuations elsewhere. Apparently Aneu Angellus was unhappy with the direction of our alliance and how we chose to correct the problem. He is working on forming a new alliance. Reportedly he has basically the entire list of PMS corps minus NICE1 and GONZO, though when I talked to each corp individually (those I were able to reach), it seems that that's not the case and no decisions have been made yet. This is what I woke up to this morning. I'm sure corporations wouldn't appreciate their name being taken in vain by Aneu - I know mine wouldn't - and I thought his actions in a little less than 12 hours were pretty fail. He'll probably respond and say our whole alliance is fail. The difference is i'd rather try to fix a problem, he'd rather leave when his view of what needs to be fixed doesn't happen.

He referred to failures of leadership on the part of C4w3 and myself, that we weren't facing the problems, though if we had generalized consent that # of pilots in fleet were a problem that certainly didn't stem from Corp 1 Allstars - our pilots were consistently X'd up in fleets and usually formed the backbone of any active fleet during US TZ/late euro TZ. Aneu's primary goal was wanting to leave Fountain because he felt that the region up through PNQ was unwinnable and that we were deluding ourselves. I disagreed with him and told him so during our leadership meeting the other day. He moved up a channel in our comms, chose not to participate in the meeting, then came back down and started off with the traditional "i'm going to be quite blunt". Much emo ensued. There was of course a lot of conversations afterwards and fingerpointing up through this morning, a lot of unfriendly things were said on all sides, all very disappointing. Sad that a game has to be this way. We kicked out DAB from the alliance this morning and closed Aneu's access to the forums to minimize damage. Whether Aneu starts a new alliance or not, and irrespective of what corporations he chooses to take with him or choose to follow him, and why those corps leave is a topic for other parties to discuss. Other corps may or may not be planning on leaving - we haven't heard anything specific from anyone but QUAM who has elected to take their corp elsewhere. We made clear to QUAM yesterday that they are welcome to remove assets with no harassment from us and that offer still stands. I firmly have the opinion that if you have a problem with someone you come and talk to them about it. Aneu claims nobody could do that with me. I know pilots in the alliance would disagree and I feel that I respected everyone's opinion whether it agreed with mine or not. What this little venture has proved for me is that alliances are best run by a benevolent dictator who has final say, and that democracies don't work. It has also proved to me that everyone has to be united under the same banner and the same set of goals, and we lost that very early on. Today a combined SOT/PL/others force are reinforcing towers in D4K and surrounding systems. Defense of those will probably not happen due to low activity as stated above. We would like to say 'gf' to SOT/PL/Arcane/EH and the rest of the Fountain coalition - experienced players will know wars are fought both in games and in propaganda - you guys did a great job and had great leadership and cohesiveness. NICE1 will be remaining in Fountain for the time being with the corps that are still around/choose to be around and we will get back to basics. Best of luck to Malet in whatever venture he chooses with QUAM - there are no hard feelings despite some misunderstandings - there is respect (not sure whether it's mutual) - really appreciate everything you guys did and all the heartache that went into it. Whether or not any of this is true is irrelevant to me. But even back in Euphrial Released, he was let in and then unceremoniously kicked out shortly thereafter. Considering Cartiff's corp is still in your alliance (or is it?)... one woulda thought there would be something against it. Then again, even without first hand knowledge of Aneu, isn't enough known about him being a general PITA well known?

That's not the intent although I think he wants to claim he doesn't have any responsibility for this. I believe that I have some personal responsibility for this failcascade - though my reasons differ. Second, to SOT who claims we outnumber them in # of pilots, all i'll say is that when you have 100+ man corps and 4 of them X up - I think you get the idea. For everyone else that's being classy - stay classy.

This is very true, especially when you recruit at the rate PMS did: I'm not saying that fast recruitment is a bad thing, but combine that with leadership-by-council and people who believe they're more important than they actually are (HI ANEU) you're pretty likely to failcascade (trust me on this, I've been in lots of failcascaded alliances ). At least we got some fights while it lasted, eh.

SOT you guys put up a very nice show and we had a many of good battles (PNQ fight was one of my favorites).
