Try rolling your drivers back, some of the newer nvidia drivers dont play nice on older hardware.

Chewing on the exposed wires of a power cable can also have this effect - have another nibble and see if the problem gets better or worse.

I've had nothing but problems with the two FX5200 (one original, and one replacement) I tried to install. That card sucks, in my opinion. It would crash my desktop regularly.
DirectX 9.0c I've also read is causing some problems. Get 9.0b from Microsoft and try that.

Heres what fixed it. (So far) It's still CCPs fault so I only have to eat a little bit of crow.
Before wiping the entire HD I uninstalled the (lastest) Nvidia driver. i installed the oldest one I still had saved away.
Started and logged in fine without the monitor resetting problem I have been experiancing, Warped around, shot at some NPCs, jumped around, returned to base and docked without any problems.
So far, so good.
Eve does not like the lastest GeForce drivers. 53.?? was the only one that worked, any newer version creates the problems.
As a side note, the lastest driver, 67.??, was installed on my machine before the patch when everything was hunky dory.
It was the patch that didnt like the driver.

It could very well be that directX 9.0C is the problem. Where before the patch eve did not use the buggy feature while afetr the patch it did.
I would also suggest going abck to b version of directX

Does this mean EVE has a ghetto bootie?
Well, seriously. If you fire up the Log server before firing up the client and gathering a Directx log too, you can send it to [email protected] and I'll look for it. Put in topic "EVE has big Ghetto Bootie". _____________________________ I say hey sky, s'other say I won say, I pray to J I get the same ol' same ol. |

Use these Nvidia drivers. They are the only ones which work fully with eve.

You have probably downloaded XP SP2... that's evil by definition. Atleast you should reinstall your system in that case then complain about it.

In order to aid in efficient troubleshooting of your system. Please download and then extract the StartupList.exe file to your desktop. Now run the program and this will generate a startuplist.txt file.
Save and email that txt file back to me for review.

Please email me your startuplist txt file at [email protected]

Its not Eve and here is why.
Lets suppose you drive a motorcycle for several years. All this time you had a hole in the top of your gas tank, however for the past serveral years you never filled your tank of gas more then half way. So you drive, and drive with this hole in the top of your gas tank, never having a problem. Then one day, you fill up the tank, then you start driving and all of a sudden you have completly getting gas all over you and all over your bike as the gas is just pouring out of the hole.
Was the problem the new patch (or gas) that was just added? No, the problem always existed, but nothing made it be evident until now.
Hope that makes sense.

Have you by chance recently downloaded Windows XP Service Pack #2? I installed that on one of my computers and have had nothing but problems with Eve (CTD, freezeup, freezeup on startup). The other two comptuers I use that have Eve on it (at the same desk) work fine so I assume its the service pack.
