Heres the Q and A- <malachlite> (YaRisse) (Question)Are there any plans to rebalence the Tempest/Projectiles in the future, or are you happy with them as they are? <Oveur> Not happy, we need to iron out a couple of things with turrets in general. I read all the threads on the Tempest/Projectiles, it's not going unnoticed and I'm fully aware of the many players not being happy with them * [even] has joined #evegate <Oveur> But there are not radical changes planned to turrets and anything done would be focused on improving a number of certain turrets, like large projectiles
Well, this isnt much, but at least its an answer from a dev finally, thanks Oveur.

this is not a little issue ccp, in case you havent noticed.
i have played this game from the start and others have played alongside me, now since the turret balance most of my minmatar friends just quit playing, never to return. and a few gallente have followed. anyone who sticks around is training amarr ships, and i hear daily how overpowered lasers are, from actual laser users.
i am starting to thing projectiles and hybrids cannot be fixed, they are FUBAR.
when this sinks in i think ill probably quit mmorpgs too (this is my first and only one)
tomb should be explaining what the hell is wrong in the first place instead of leaving us all in the lurch.

Problem with Lasers is not an unbalance in general, but in certain types of Lasers being far to versatible, like missiles were once. Beams are perfectly fine, but Pulse Lasers have either too low cap need or too good damage output, and of course far to good range.
It was a noble cause to boost Pulse Lasers, but it has turned into a "Mega Pulse Be All End All... 
In Comparison to these beasts all other turrets look like pea shooters

Problem with Lasers is not an unbalance in general, but in certain types of Lasers being far to versatible, like missiles were once. Beams are perfectly fine, but Pulse Lasers have either too low cap need or too good damage output, and of course far to good range.
It was a noble cause to boost Pulse Lasers, but it has turned into a "Mega Pulse Be All End All... 
In Comparison to these beasts all other turrets look like pea shooters

agreed perry, when a mega pulse I with 2 damage mods and large laser 3 and ss 3 wrecks for higher than a mega modal neutron with skills maxed it just doesnt make sense, and its getting harder to ignore or to "wait" for guns to be fixed.

I bought an Apoc this week and one of my Megathrons is on the market to pay for it. Aside from Minmatar frigates for travel, I always took pride in flying only Gallente ships, but with the nerf to L hybrids (and I hear an even nastier one to projectiles) I switched to lasers. I just have to. Not to mention the Apoc can fit 8 mega pulses and 2 large armor repairs, while there was never a chance I could get 7 good blasters and 2 large repairs on a megathron, let alone have the cap to run them.
Mega pulse hit like a freight train, track nicely and I get 50KM optimal with radio crystals and zero tracking mods. Mega pulse need a small optimal nerf, L hybrids need SOME loving, L projectiles apparently need a lot.

The problem here is that there is no communication between devs and the people. I know some other games that have been killed off just because there was no communication between the devs and their (paying!) audience.
This is the first small sign of any statement made by a dev since Castor. Thats what.. 4 weeks now?
EVE is a good product. I like it a lot, it's beautifully designed and it's a good mmo. But please dear people from CCP, make sure you don't loose sight of the people who pay your salary. We pay a lot to play this month, and we wanna have a small vote in what direction this game is going.
And because the devs normallt only get to hear the bad things they do here is some good things: I love the way you keep trying to fix the servers. I love how many patches you put out in a single month. I played EnB for 10 months and compared to that EVE puts out more patches 1 one month than EnB did in their entire existance. I love the way devs put in a new thing every now and then, how they try and keep the storyline going. I love the way EVE still runs on my crappy Athlon 800, it's really well programmed :)
So you see dear Devs, it's not all bad things you do. Just try to let us in the developements a bit by talking to us in a 2 way conversation.

I am happy with a simple acknowledgement that they know their is an issue and are not pleased with proj turret performance.
I look fwd to them fixing the issue.

It'd be so nice if each forum had a mouthpiece GM to convey info from devs to players. I've been spitting all over myself about the Retrib for weeks, only to find out now that the devs feel there's nothing wrong with it - stupid and wrong as that may be, it's nice to finally know for sure.

The problem with megapulse, and large lasers in general, is that they dont use enough cap. Firing lasers forever should put considerable strain on your capacitor and limit your tanking abilities.

hey good that they have told us they know its a problem now and completely unfair for those who trained for months in that skill area i just hope they dont nurf mega pulses and lasers to try and balance it. I hope they instead bring up teh abilty of the otehr types of guns to its lvel so it is balanced. I personally love the way they dont tell us too much so its all a suprpise but on this issue we need to know a little more at least to set our minds at bay. Considering this is generally pvpers complaining i think it would be useful if CCP determined several ppl from the different alliance in the game to tell them each month a sumerised version of what people want changed to the game alliances cover every aspect of the game so is clearly the best channel for this i think this would help both sides know what to do and what the game needs. Anyone agree with me? hoep the game devs read these forums.

The prob is that the tracking is amazing, i dont even pay attention to the falloff, 9km? absolute blx. I use no tracking comps (motion pred 5) and i hit cruiser pirate npcs at 15km rng with radios for good dmg, not really much lower than at optimal.
The cap use however i thought was fine, quite reasonable in fact, mega pulses tend to suck the cap quite a bit even with ctrld bursts 4 and bs 4.
Using radios at 15km purely cos im v lazy :/ __
