Renamed Eve folder. Had to run installer twice. Installed, no corruption. Got black screen, installed Apoc 1.2.1. Got logged in. Thanks for the quick responses guys. Now to go find other problems.

and how do you go about doing that?
On Linux, I add "taskset 2" at the start of the icon execution string.
I tried:
start /AFFINITY 1 EVE_Premium_Setup_88517_m.exe
Which is essentially the same, setting affinity to use the first processor, and I verified that via task manager, it showed up as using only the first processor, but to no avail. Same issue.

This new patch seems to have put more stress on the GPU, before my computer could run three windowed clients smoothly with no problem, now the GPU fan is spinning crazily and there is some tearing when spinning the camera, this is most noticable when docked in a station. I read in the patch notes that they where meant to be improving station graphics so they run more smoothly on older graphics cards, I am running a 8800GTS 512MB and my performance seems to haved got worse. Has anyone else noticed this?

Edited by: Sol Mortis on 14/05/2009 17:57:37 I would like to report a bug
THE SCAN PROBING SYSTEM REMAINS BROKEN. Please fix the broken scan probes. This is important because like 80% of your game involves using scan probes at some part of the process. It is a TEDIOUS CHORE to use probes in their current form because of the numerous.
I would really prefer if playing your game was more enjoyable and less frustrating due to long-standing bugs that cripple your core game mechanics.
Please fix the phantom false hits on duplicate results. At least you used to give us both the bad hit and the good hit, now it only ever seems to be the bad one.
Please make ship filters work again. It worked once, how hard could it be to make it work again? All it needs to do is filter ships of different types. Like when I filter for battleships, cruisers shouldn't show up as they do now.
The scan graphics also cause a lot of people problems. It doesn't slow me down, but I agree that it doesn't look very cool and serves no useful purpose.
Please fix these bugs that you introduced in 1.1 and 1.2 before introducing any more new bugs. -Sol Mortis |

Since introduction of streamlined update mechanism (a.k.a. Apocryphia) I have CRC errors with my common.ini which forces me to reinstall the whole client after trying to patch. Every damn patch CCP deploys!
Vista x64 Ultimate on a QX9650/4Gb RAM/GF 9800 GX2/2x 500Gb Raid0 box
Is my computer too advanced for this game? I thought it's set in the future, so even my shuttle has more computing power than my desktop? Why CCP?

Oh just shut the **** up - this statement alone shows that you don't know anything about software development. Devs are replying politely to your arrogant, rude, hidden-behind-an-alt posts and you don't even acknowledge the help, let alone thank them for it.
You know what - do go ahead and stop paying for the game (as if you would). Nobody will miss you. |

For all of us that have corrupt CRC in the RAR self extractable installer, could you please provide the 7z file separately? Then we might have some luck actually installing the game.
Frankly it gets more and more sickening to wait for responses from CCP on the patching issue.
We want help, and we want it now.

What works so far Re-downloaded the new client still black screen
Followed the directions from: http://www.eveonline.com/ingameboard.asp?a=topic&threadID=1071924&page=8#220
This is what it says:
If you are experiencing a "black screen" issue, then try downloading and applying this patch http://ccp.vo.llnwd.net/o2/evepremiumpatch88517-88737_m.exe to update from Apocrypha 1.2 to a new 1.2.1. We believe this will resolve the issue.

And now something completely different...
When I point at a link in the chat window, after a few seconds it turns from the pointer to the cross cursor, after which it isn't possible to click the link unless I move it again and it becomes the pointing cursor again... for a little while. I opened eve to get an incompatible build error which was expected due to the patch last night. However it never gave me the option to download and install the patch just kept saying incompatible build. So i manually downloaded patched ect. After patching my eve client would open and stay minimized unless i opened in safe mode. Someone suggested clearing cache which i did to no avail. Then it was reported that there was a new patch with a fix. I downloaded the patch and now my eve wont even open in safe mode.
Runnin Vista Nvidia Gefore 8600 GTS. Have plenty of room to spare on my hd and such computers running fine, eve just wont open? Can someone please help me with this issue? |

+1 black screen, running EVE on Linux via a ptched version of WIne. Incidentally, I was occasionally getting crashes with a message saying something about a pure virtual function call (which I see others report further up this thread) even before this patch.
Oh, and the built-in upater still doesn't work.
Whatever you;re doing re testing patches, CCP, it isn't sufficient, and for heavens sake ditch the useless 'updater', it's merely a bloody annoyance and about as much use as a sieve for bailing water.
Going to try the 1.2.1 patch now. (why should we fear a patch that hasn't had a lot of testing yet when teh ones that supposedly have break the game anyway?)
