The issue introduced in this thread is of importance to a significant portion of the player base. It would be interesting to see what response is given by the developers to this present need/request from the player base. So far no response.........

EXCUSE ME!
I've been wandering in most EVE regions's high sec areas for a while, i've seen an high number of mining parties and solo-miners (most in battleships).
I HAVE YET TO SEE AN EMPTY BELT 2 JUMPS FROM TRADE HUBS
that's right, there's enough ore to keep a 5 hul+orca party occupied for hours IN EACH SYSTEM.
I see no problem in mining, other than it's costant unprofitable time/isk rate. -----------------------------------------

Originally by: Omarvelous Perhaps you need to delve into low-sec. No I'm not looking for an easy kill - I'm suggesting you work out a deal with a local low-sec corp to mine in their system safely. You could offer them a free battlecruiser every week to allow you to mine. In fact if you can get access to their intel channels, you could alert them if you're being attacked and they could come defend you.
Low sec roids are huge. If you have any exploration skills you can find grav sites with 0.0 ores. My alt mines in a Hulk in low-sec, its a great way to get the bulky trit/pyerite I need for my own T1 BS or BC.
Contact me in game if you'd like to work in my neck of the woods, I'm working on setting up some low-sec industry for my pvp alliance.
Uh, a free battlecruiser per WEEK? Low sec just isn't that profitable in the first place, because you need to haul the junk out, and even your pvp alliance does hold the area, there is still an element of risk compared to high sec.
And hey, veldspar is still more profitable than any of the low sec ores. So...I can mine veld in high sec, or I can pay you off, worry about being ganked, and spend scads of time hauling to....mine veld in low sec.
Easy choice there.

It would be nice, but I do not expect one.
CCP has turned corporate over the years and now none of the devs seem to want to give an answer to questions that could be important to the silent, none multi-thread creating, not endlessly whining minority.
All I want is to know from CCP if the system is working as intended or not.

You scanned the belts with a Survey scanner or just counted the asteroids ? There is a big difference between those two things.
Having a belt full of roids does not mean that it's full of ore. It only means that there are baby roids that have been re-seeded, not respawned.
In all history that I recall, only once after a patch all belts have been restored to full size. Apart that ... nada.

OK, in that case I would like to move all Level 4 and 5 agents away from HiSec into 0.4 and lower or even 0.0, so the mission whoring population of EVE has to go thru the same risk vs. reward scheme you so adequately advertise.

Originally by: FlameGlow No, why should there be more ore in highsec? It only feeds macroers and drives down mineral prices. Most of claimed 0.0 is packed with ore nobody mines(so is lowsec, but meh, it's lowsec). If prices rise high enough it will eventually make it worth the increased risk. If solo miners can't mine in those areas screw them, this is a multiplayer game.

If anything, remove all non-named loot from missions, that could help boost miners income a little bit. It would hamper my income, but pfft, make mining worth it damn.
Actually, remove all ores from high-sec apart from Scordite and Veldspar, make the next one up 0.5, and the rest low-sec. That could work.

asteroid belts need to be scannable and hard to find to make it impossible to mine with macros.
Also in my opinion high sec(0.8-0.5) belts should be able to be owned by corporations. If you steal the ore the corp has rights to kill you. Would make empire wars for a reason.

I do a fair bit of carebear highsec mining and dont mind a bit of competition for the roids. But damm macro miners online 23/7 are realy begining to p*** me off. i've spend many a happy hour bumping them out of belts in a mwd fitted bs, but it seems to me that their numbers have been growing out of hand over the last year. CCP should introduce some more risk to the mining system. Some rats should have stealth bombers and fire torps. from arround 50kms....out of most miners drone range.Noobs in their rookie ships will survive by orbiting the riod they are mining, and those of us actualy at the keyboard can warp away. unless the macrominer writes a new program hes either gonna loose his ship or warp away when attacked by a normal common belt rat...lowering his returns. as a byproduct of this i expect trit. prices to double and i can make a killing from my stockpile

Originally by: lollerwaffle The hulk is meant to be a mining ship used in more dangerous waters, not in a 1.0 system.
The Hulk has about as much tank as a cruiser when outfitted for mining. Example, my alts Hulk has exactly 5558 total hp. A decently/well fitted Osprey has about the same (for a fraction of the cost no less). If you think that is survivable in low sec or even that it's worth risking a 500 million isk ship (ship, rigs and fittings, not to mention implants on the pilot) with a tank small enough to be suicided in high sec by a single smartbomb fitted Battle Ship.. then you obviously are not a miner and not even remotely aware of how slow a hulk is to turn/align/warp and/or are most likely just looking for fat juicy targets to kill.

Then:
30k players, well seeded belts, No chance to mine them ever dry.
Now:
300k players, empty belts, shotty reseeding mechanic, better mining equipment, purpose orientated ships, roaming intellingent macro-mining gangs, and best you can hope for is 1 or 2 cycles per roid in HiSec ( and then you have to be quick right after downtime )
Let's see, CCP has given PvP, PvE orientated gamers at least 10 new ship classes, new NPC, new toys, new regions, new and harder combat system ( sleepers ) and, let me exaggerate, 100 new skills for combat, ECM ... whatever.
So, here I am, playing for 6y still having a choice of a whooping 10 modules for mining, not having seen any increase in asteroid belts but only in ways to empty them faster and about 10x more players.
Macro mining gangs still are around and petitioning them doesn't change a thing, not because CCP doesn't remove them, but because CCP removes them slowly and with all miners around these days ... if you removed 50 macro mining accounts 5y ago you did remove 0,1% of the player base ... now ... I do not even want to do the math ... it's just not sufficient.
It is MY opinion that CCP has to change the respawn/reseeding on asteroid belts or make belts bigger ... grow the resources that are available with the the increasing player base ... get better in identifying who macro mines and get rid of them for good. The current mechanic was working a few years back ... not anymore.
Furthermore ... You get more and better ships, better and bigger guns ... but I, as manufacturer, still only have 11 slots per character to build stuff. Another skill to get 10 more slots ? Please ???
Regards,
FT
Edit:
If you want to respond "Move to LoSec or NullSec !" ... I already live there. If you want to respond "Use Exploration !" ... I already do so. If you want to respond "Stop mining !" ... I will once CCP removes it as a profession/option.

Mining should be pretty simple: you have your dirt, you have your selection of 10 shovels, and you just go and dig.
It could benefit from CCP making belt NPCs smarter. Make them warp scramble barges even in high sec space. Make them smartbomb combat drones. Make them periodically decloak and throw bombs at barges. Then give miners modules/ways to defend against these attacks. This way mining would require more tactics out of miners - won't be as simple and boring as it is now ;)

OK here is an idea that most of you pvpers will not like on the surface. CCP should make mining a bit easier. The "why" is easy to answer, if mining is easier then that will drive the costs to build ships down. Less isk to build a ship = less isk to buy a ship. I keep wondering if the point of EvE is to see how much isk you have destroyed or the actual pvp itself. Kingdom warfare would become a fun thing instead of just a way to boost your isk destroyed. Maybe make those 100mil + hulks less so miners would risk a little more, or make hulks less of a tempting target. Or even give industrial ships and mining ships more bonuses to increase their survivability.

Too much politics - nullsec is more boring that highsec as, though it is a bit more dangerous, you have to put up with alliance waffle! Now lowsec is a more interesting matter. Also w-space has brought more resources that are not alliance monopolised into play.
One problem is too much high end minerals from reprocessing mission loot devalues lowsec mining. The low end mineral problem is that trit is not easily movable, so the high sec shortages cannot easily be made up from other sources. Maybe more veld only grav sites in high sec? We need to ensure that high sec mining can be carried out by new characters.
