There are player which are not blocked by the Gate-Jump-Crashes? For me the games is unplayable since the last patch: 3..5 jumps until stuck. Most of the time both clients are stuck in the same system.
This patch was the "new high" for your quality assurance.... :(

Edited by: Fractal Eye on 22/05/2009 19:35:59 I've personally been in a wormhole system these past couple weeks (kinda stuck in a class 2 that only exits into 0.0 or a class 5 it seems... but that's another issue lol), so I've only been affected by the gate bug a couple times. I just wanted to say I think the patch notes link is wrong. No big deal, but it sends you to Apocrypha 1.2 patch notes, instead of 1.2.3 (id=187 instead of id=189).
edit: wow, that was quick

The reason it is taking until Tuesday is because the one guy at CCP that actually plays the game is on vacation until Monday. He is the only one that can "replicate" the issue of jump/relog/jump/relog....
Once he gets back on Monday, both programmers/bug hunters/engineers at CCP responsible for actually writing code will gather around his little workstation and watch it happen.
Hope the funny video's that everyone else is working on for fanfest are coming along.

This is very late for such an important bug. Is there no chance for a hotfix before tuesday? |

The issue is a timing-related race condition that is very difficult to reproduce. In our testing, when we knew what was causing the issue, the reproduction had a low probability of occurring.

Yes, you do realize that this is a holiday weekend in America right? Most Americans had a half day today, and Monday and Tuesday off. Those of us that were going to log in and play the game will just set a long skill and go play something else.
This needs to be fixed before Tuesday. You have had 4 days already CCP.
If this patch does wait until tuesday, I will be petitioning for 7 days game time reimbursed. I would hope that everyone would do the same.

I understand some people can't play the game and that takes priority, but CCP still hasn't said anything about fixing the scanning system, Its one of your main features of the latest expansion, what a joke.

Unacceptable. This needs to happen sooner. If you are concerned about the fix not working correctly or if you want to not repeat the same screwup you have for the last patch then sure, lets spend some time on SiSi. However, in the mean time can we get back to a working order on TQ? Rollback?

It's great that they are fixing this issue but it trashes a three day holiday weekend for everyone in the U.S. who hoped to play EvE.

Edited by: Spite4U on 22/05/2009 20:32:15 I think most people are thinking the same thing.
If you have a fix for this now why the hell arent you putting it in tomorrow? (saturday)
Moving fleets anywhere is a nightmare, someone crashes on every jump nearly every time. People are getting empire ganked. And I'm sure as hell none of the losses will be reimburseable since as you pointed out the error is hard to reproduce.
You've listed this as a critical fix so I think a more urgent timeframe for implementing it would seen like common sense to me.

Because maybe they want to TEST the fix first???
People screamed that CCP isn't doing enough QA and now they look for unwanted side-effects and test it properly and it is wrong again?
Make up your mind!!
I don't know about you, but I prefer to wait a few days longer and have a solid and working fix available which doesn't break tons of other stuff as result instead of a rushed and quick hack which will only cause more problems that it solves.
TAKE ALL THE TIME YOU NEED CCP (but not any more than that).

Awesome. Take your time, don't listen to all these whiners who demand instant gratification on every single issue. FFS people, quit being drama queens and making this out to be some catastrophe.
Nice to see a solution to this so soon, better than another week or two!
I'd like to see any other MMO company solve this as quickly as CCP is.

Low probability of occurring? I had to relog at EVERY GATE I jumped through, during EVERY fleet op since that last patch. You have pretty much shut down any sort of an op involving more than 1 person.
I can understand that problems will happen and do happen, but own up to the fact you broke the game and ****ed off a lot of you player base, who I will remind you, pay your salary.
This one Isn't as bad as deleting vital system files, but the wait combined with this attitude is getting it up there.

Great to hear they have sorted the problem. Hopefully they will spend the next 4 days testing it to make sure it doesn't delete a critical system file.... :D
I'll not be petitioning for 7 days extra eve time, however, my petition will ask that they never ever ever ever do another expansion to the game.
Every time they make an expansion things go wrong in game... and in real life things get worse, my wife wants to leave me, my kids hate me, my personal hygiene goes out the window......... I can't deal with this anymore.

Lets keep this in mind next time a patch is released. Please make sure that in the future that issues such as this are thoroughly tested and and issues addressed by people who have found issues on SiSi are properly vetted. Lets not waste a week of both of our time if we can help it again. ----- *results may vary*

Can an optional patch be released early like the 1.2.1 patch for the black-screen problem was? For some people the jump bug is rare, but for many it's constant and game-breaking.

So, ****ing tell us what we need to do to prevent it so we can at least play the ****ing game until it's patched.
Oh, let me guess, "if you stay docked or in a single system until post-patch, you won't experience any issues"? -------------------

This bug isn't hard to reproduce. We figured it out last night. If more than one ship is jumping at the same time, the "white out" happens and the client locks. Our gang of six was having no problem jumping from gate to gate to gate, as long as we had a jump order estabilished and waited for the last player to jump to say that he/she had finished, before sending the next pilot through.
However, everytime two or more of us jumped together, we would all lock up.
And yes, I agree... this patch needs to be implemented sooner. The issue did end up costing us one ship last night.

Agree. Better let this be tested so it doesn't make things worse, among other things.
Originally by: Rainhailer FFS people, quit being drama queens and making this out to be some catastrophe.
Disagree, because it is a catastrophe. This last patch has singlehandedly destroyed PvP, which is a huge and essential part of EVE. As it is right now, I can't go through gates without knowing if I survive or not. And when I come through, I can't be certain that I even see the hostiles that may or may not be there, because of the overview bug. Same goes with POS'.
Some people have compared this latch patch with RMR and said "at least it wasn't that expansion", but in my personal case I had less issues with RMR than I've had right now. Normally I spend the majority of my gameplay in hostile 0.0, but last week I've had four of my five (one is about to run out, so soon four) docked up in NPC 0.0/lowsec. The final one is in Empire and I've used that to make isk, which is kinda necessary for PvP but it's dull as f*ck.
It is a disaster, simply put, as it kills some of the major parts of the game. The 'whining' is the perfectly sensible approach to this. It won't make anyone happier to read no, but it does ruin the game completely, we do pay for it, and CCP needs to realise how much of a major ****up these bugs are.
But yah, I'd rather see this patch come through with some testing, in that regard I agree with you. I just hope CCP realises the overview bug is nearly as bad as the gate crash, it's bloody risky to PvP when you can't know for sure what's in space in front of you. That things really needs to be as high prio as the gatefix right now. - I'd tell you why but then I'll have to kill you. And to kill you I'd have to log in. And to log in I'd have to stop browsing these forums. Both you and me knows that'll never happen. |
