What would be the best ship to use against a war target Golem in a deadspace mission? (highsec)
I can fly any Gallentee ship.
How well do cruise missles damage a cruiser? I was thinking about a neut ishtar or something with an AB..
A ship + setup and maybe an explaination as to why it'd be a good ship against the golem would be apresiated.
Thanks!

Poking around with EFT..
Looks like it may be a 2 man job unless you had another Golem, and in that case the two of you would probably be able to tank each other..
What's the most DPS a Golem can tank? anyone know? (though i don't think a gank setup would be your best bet)

You could do it with an Arazu if you catch him at the right time (when he just gained aggro from all the rats). You'll want to use an Arazu anyway for long range point to tackle him, and 3x Damps w/ lock range scripts drops a Golem's lock range down below 20km. If he has FOFs he'll eventually be able to kill off the rats but if not, rats he can't kill + your dps might be enough to overpower his tank. Otherwise, you can bring in +1 in practically anything with DPS and finish him off that way.

Someone had an officer fit one (and possibly a crystal set) that was easily tanking 5 or 6 BS's. You'll need to neut the crap out of him then bring in the heavy hitters.

Edited by: Mykpilot on 23/05/2009 15:55:50 You need to kill his cap to kill his tank or do over 1000 DPS. Killing the cap is much easier. You don't need crazy amount of cap attack since the Golem's.
Then you need to be able to tank his damage by jamming him. T2 HACs might not be good enough if he actually using painters/web.
I would take a Domi personally.

Edited by: Cygnus Zhada on 23/05/2009 15:59:41 Neut dommie, doesn't matter how uber your active tank is if you don't have cap. Have a neutral alt scan his tank/cargobay at a gate to know what he's tanking and what damage he's dealing. Fit accordingly.
Bring someone along in a Blackbird and he'll be permajammed.

Its not difficult, find out what mission he is doing and use dornes in an ishtar which he isnt tanked against - optimal would be praetors. Fit neuts and have enough capcharges yourself, have an mwd to get in range quick but also 2-3 racial caldari jammers and a passive tank in lows imo.
He should go down like a stone. -

Might want to rethink that mwd-idea for hunting deadspace golems. ;)

unless your WT gets creative and fits passive (not optimal but doable, due to slot layout), neuts will put his tank at the level of the NPCs he's fighting.
have somebody do a directional scan to figure out the rat wrecks he's leaving (and thus his hardeners.) carry ammo and drones to punch through his resist hole and he'll go down like a ton of gold bricks (good lord, the price of a golem went waaay the **** up)
to the golem pilot: leave a trail of bookmarks from prior missions, and warp around them, changing the name of your ship each time. fit omni, use painters, and fit neuts in your utility slots. an eccm and a sensor booster would probably help too. you've got plenty of slots, so you can sacrifice some tank for a doomsday scenario (especially if you're dumb enough to mission in a place where your WTs know where you are)
let the games begin!!!

Slap some neuts on an ishtar instead IMO, will be easier to catch him that way.

Good luck getting him to agro you- if he does neuts is the key to killing him with very few ppl. If its a suicide gank your after- lots of luck on that. You just wont have the time unless you bring tons of ppl.

Kill his tank with neuts.
Kill his gank with Caldari racial ECM.
If he's got a couple of BS spawns on him you don't even need to shoot him.

If he's using cruise missiles he may switch to FOF missiles if you jam him. There is no counter to rat ECM so if he runs a lot of mission vs guristas it is likely that he carry fof's.

true but there are two things that save you against fofs, one is that he may be swarmed with frigs and the fofs should go after them first, two you have an armor tank that will take a bit of a beating before it drops.
also of note, a golem without enough cap to run its hardeners dies very fast to rats in complexes and lvl 4's Signature locked. Please submit a petition to discuss the matter further. Navigator |

What's the most DPS a Golem can tank? anyone know? (though i don't think a gank setup would be your best bet)
can tank about 1300dps sustained easy.... if it's plex or officer fit good luck with that, if thats the case you're lookin at close to 2000dps sustained or more. My t2 fit golem can sustained 1100 dps tank easy. For example if he's running 2x Pith X type boost amps and a gist x type xlarge, he's gonna have a cap stable 2300dps tank, though very unlikely it's possible. Now if he's running a pith or gist X type large, it's gonna be closer to cap stable 13-1400 dps tank.
Now if he's running medium drones with his cruise missiles, thats around 550dps going out, though very easy to jam. Just hope you get lucky and he's not running a mission that he can use torps on, if he does that, he'll be putting out a bit over 1k dps.
