Warp drives... the single most common system onboard our ships. No matter what ship you fly, it can warp.
Scramblers and Disruptors come in a variety. Range, strength, resource requirements... obviously there's been a lot of thought into how to keep someone from getting away.
Warp Core Stabilizers... are the only means of preventing them. A single low slot module. And although there are a few types, they are nearly identical in requirements and effect.
Then... you happen upon an EVE Chronicle like this one...
In the 3rd paragraph, it makes mention of the main character getting Warp Scrambled, and using an Anti-Scrambling unit to clear up his drive and get away. Due to the strength he was facing, it'd take a full minute to work.
So... where is this on the Market? Perhaps a mid slot, active module. Probably works on a % base like the other ECM, increasing the chances that the Scrambler loses hold. Or it just tacks on more warp strength at the end of a lengthy cycle.
Why does CCP include all sorts of cool stuff in their stories, and not in the game where it counts. --- Players aren't interested in Variety, they only want THE BEST. |

Come on now...
Imagine the average gate camp ransom situation.
Worn down to structure, and the leader sends convo invite. "Hi, how much do you value your ship and implants?"
Luckily, you've had the descrambler running since your gate cloak fell. By the time they get around to naming a price, you're aligned and gone. Seems they conveniently Webbed you as well, and that 75% speed is now all of 5m/s. |

Or how about this one:
You're a solo belt pirate and after hours of painstaking hunting you've finally found your first (and likely only) prey of the night. You warp in, scram and web them, and start shooting. 30 seconds later, they warp off.
Sorry, thanks, but no thanks. Guess it all depends on your point of view, whether you are the predator or the prey ;p

And the prey essentially has 1. And it's a pretty useless option at that. |

Tbh I have to agree with this, and I will add that such a module doesn't really add anything to the game.
If you're fit to evade fights, you shouldn't have gotten scrammed in the first place.
If you're fit to fight others, you're wasting a slot on an escape mechanism you shouldn't need to use, because you should be picking your fights and your fit should be to WIN, not escape from a fight of your choosing.
So basically, this is an oh **** button that you'd use if you got caught in non-consentual PvP, which to me it just encourages sloppy gameplay and poor decision making.
'sides, what stops them from kicking the scram right back on? :P

The prey shouldn't have gotten caught. He made a decision not to check local. He made a decision not to check scanner. He made a decision not to pay attention. He made a decision to jump into a gatecamp. These are all choices, options for a player before they enter a non-consentual PvP situation. I don't think there should be a game mechanic that awards poor decision making. |

Agreed.

uh why not just use an ECM mod in your mid? It will deactivate the scrambler (and anything else that person is doing to you besides drones), and it also requires a bit of time before it succeeds.

Predator: Warp disruptor, Warp scrambler (basically the same option, really) and bumping to an extent. Three.
Prey: Warp stabs, killing the predator, neuting the predator, jumping out, docking, moving out of scram/disruptor range, ecm. Seven. |

Sounds like a cool module, but probably wouldn't be best in the game as it is currently.
Maybe if some changes were made to the whole warp scramble system. |

lol I hope this is a joke, clearly killing the prey is not an option available to the predator. the predator can not neut the prey either for some reason? you can't warp off with no cap. the predator cannot use eccm or his own ecm module to counter his prey's ecm? Staying in range is suddenly a problem too? |

Unnecessary. As was said before, it really doesn't add anything to the game and just makes it even harder to catch people.
I've lived in lowsec full time for some time now. I haven't lost a ship to a gate camp in a very long time. I've jumped into lots of gate camps, hell I jumped into a 20 person camp earlier today. Even if you're already in the camp you get 30 free seconds to figure out what the hell you're going to do and then do it. If you've thought ahead you should be able to just zip out of the camp or run back to the gate and jump out.
If you're ratting in a belt, and you get caught by anyone, I have no pity for you. Recons have a targeting delay and you can see everyone else on your scanner before they show up. Not to mention the fact that the local channel will tell you when they're in the system with you.
You can avoid any and all station camps by just using insta-undock bookmarks. These have been covered to death elsewhere so I won't go into details.
If you're missioning or exploring, nobody can find you without probing you out. The probes show up on your d-scanner. The only way you'll get caught is if you're not paying attention.
Also your de-scrambler idea would still be beat by HICs the way you've presented it, and any decent camp will have so many points on you no amount of bonuses will help you. |

This.
I agree with OP that it would be nice from a roleplay point of view but it would be one hell of a pain from a game play point of view. There are countless ways of getting out of a fight and even more ways you can prevent ever getting into one so I really don't think implementing more rescue tools is a good idea. |

EvE doesn't cater to the idea that things should be dynamic. Underneath all the 'chance based' calculations is a game that has predefined outcomes in a very limited number of scenarios.
Everytime I suggest a different kind of EvE, the box flames me till I jump back in it. |

Unfortunately, descramblers exist, so instead of escaping with a fair ransom, you die and your killer settle for looting your wreck. |

To actually answer the question instead of complain to the OP.
Originally by: Marcus Gideon
Why does CCP include all sorts of cool stuff in their stories, and not in the game where it counts.
Because a module like this would be over-powered. The warp core stabs already were (no penalty) and became un-viable for pvp. If the Anti Warp Scram took a med-slot, it would be even more powerful.
Unfortunately, CCP include it in their back-story because the game is ever-changing and the chronicles are old. That is why they drift apart.
