When will the Singularity server be available? On the download page, it's written that both servers use the same build now. Does it mean we have to wait for a next patch which will make connecting to Singularity possible?

Unfortunately, I don't think you're going to find much sympathy here. You see, allowed or not, most people don't like scammers. They're considered little more than thieves where I come from - smart thieves yes, but thieves none-the-less. So while the tears may flow, don't expect any of us who don't run scams to care. --Vel

I am not sure increasing the reverse engineering copies as much as you did was a good idea. A ten run BPC from a malfunctioning weapon? I could have seen it going to five that would have increased the valuse, but with ten all you are going to do is have a bunch of useless BPC's lying about as I don't see how salvage is going to catch up to need. Not to mention even if it did, all it would do is literally flood the market. I like the rest of this but you went a tad bit overboard with the runs.

I for one welcome the removal of free form contracts. It's a good thing to allow scams in eve but implementing features that are useful for nothing else except scamming is not something I like. Freeforms are like implementing a new system for trading supercaps and giving the seller a "scam" option directly in the menu or something...
I never saw the point of freeforms in the first place (except to scam people) so I think they were useles and nobody will miss them, not even the scammers. Go to Jita, check the scam contracts and you will see that the scammers use Item Exchange or Auction in 99% of the cases. Probably because even they find freeforms useless.
On the other hand I agree that removing all possibilities to scam is also a bad thing but you shouldn't worry too much... tons of people get scammed every day in other games (and in real life) and those games don't have such a complex UI and they still fall for your tricks. So it's not like you were relying on the freeforms as a scammer in the first place.

Freeform contracts were not a good feature as it made scamming not a question of scammer ability, but a question of the victim not knowing the EVE contract mechanics.
This was not a good thing! Now, a scammer will have to WORK for his money! You'll have to sweet-talk the victim into trusting you, and THEN take his money! This is actually more like how it works in the real world!
Scamming is a great thing in EVE, but success should be dependent on whether you are a good scammer, not whether the victim happen to not know the ins and outs of the contract system!

Obviously it will reduce invention cost, and thus lower the cost of t3 ships. That was the whole point.

Can you tell us if you just changed the Rev Eng runs outcome? Have all the relics the same outcome equation but just give different run BPCs now or does the wrecked still yield less chance of success from the malfunctioning and Intact relics? --

Sorting out the 99% CPU modules is good. The old way was just needlessly confusing, and it'll mean fewer noobs coming to the Help channel wanting to know why they can't fit their Retriever properly.
Don't mind freeforms going. They were never used for anything except scams, so they were basically only there to defraud noobs. Though I'm curious if the tinfoil from the scammers will approach the levels in the ghost training thread?

The point is you need a balance. The new patch increases the number of datacores available, which means an inventor has the opportunity to try more times. On average, in a nine box mag site you can get about 15 wrecked or malufunctioning subsytems. With reverse engineering five and my sciences at level four I hit about 50% of the time using wrecked relics in reverse engineering before the patch and mag sites are easy to find. The increase in datacores available means I will hopefully no longer have 40 t0 50 spare wrecked relics in my hanger waiting to be invented on...that solves the cost problem. What I now get is a salvaging problem. Demand on salvage will go up if the person inventing tries to build all the runs he has because he will not have enough parts scavanged to actually build the components needed for all the runs he has.

Edited by: Moonlight Express on 29/06/2009 20:59:01 POS warfare just got a lot easier as well. Best feature of eve is putting up POSes as fast as you can and then wasting months of peopleÆs time to destroy them. This game is just getting better and better.
EVE used to be a PVP game where you had to fight for space. Now it's carebears putting up POSes as fast as they can, replacing them as soon as they get destroyed and shooting them for months when enemies are sleeping while out blobbing with Titans. What a waste of a game has EVE become. Pathetic.

Yes I would like to see this question answered as well. If the quality of the relic still affects the chance to Reverse Engineer as well as the number of runs on the end product bpc then the small empire based corps will be priced right out of T3 production.
I have no issue with the higher quality relics giving an advantage to the larger, better equiped corps that can manage to conquer the class 4,5 and 6 w-holes, more risk equals more reward after all, but if the quality affects chance as well as number of runs then it seems like a double hit to the smaller empire corps.

Edited by: Wyn Rose on 29/06/2009 22:09:08 I have my station containers sorted on type of mod.
Top three are named low, med and high. I also have some other station containers named with , industrial, loot and so on.
They are always sorted that certain way. After the patch they were arranged differently. I tried to sort on type, because that was the way it worked befoe the patch. Now it seems it doesn't.
So ok, i rearrange..start naming the top three as i did before and shifted all the contents to the new containers. I exit station, come back a few hours later and see that it's again..all messed up.
Anybody else having this problem or knows a work around?

CCP I applaud your work on inventory issues. But really, you're all the way up to 1.3 now and you still can't/won't fix the sound bugs? I've been playing EVE for 5 YEARS and until APOC I've never had to turn the sound off. Now I constantly have to turn the sound off to get some relief. You've turned this game's sound into a hidious joke.
So lets compare your work again my check list: Active shield mods make very loud annoying looping sounds. Fixed? No. CCP FAILS. Combat sounds still whacked due to active shield mod sounds. Fixed? No. CCP FAILS. Moving ships make annoying looping sounds. Fixed? NO. CCP FAILS. Space, especially around stations now makes annoying looping sounds. Fixed? NO. CCP FAILS. Station looping sound tracks still to friggin' loud. Fixed? No. CCP FAILS. Obelisk freighters when jumping thru gates can gain a permanent gate hum looping sound that only goes away on reboot. Fixed? No. CCP FAILS. Separate slider in escape menu to mute looping sounds. No. CCP FAILS. Added hotkeys to quickly mute and restore game sound. No. CCP FAILS.
Frankly, I'm completely baffled. How can a company do such a great job on everything else and then completely destroy the enjoyability of the game due to poor sound engineering. What's worse, you let this get past your long testing process and then sit live in the game for patch after patch.
FREE US FROM THE TYRANNY OF LOOPING GAME SOUNDS. PLEASE! I'M BEGGIN' YA!

Exactly, couldn't agree more on the bolded part.
However, the way things are going with certain implementations over the last few years, EvE IS is turning into "a ****ing country club".
Can flipping - nerfed Suicide ganking - nerfed Shooting gang members from a different corp - nerfed Many more....
Risk is diminishing, reward is increasing. Doesn't sound like the "cold, harsh place" CCP professes EvE to be anymore.

I am a bit disappointed as well. Some very minor bugs was introduced to the scanning interface in 1.1, making it very hard to use. Especially the lack of dual signatures on the map is very annoying.
Any ETA on fixing it? It seems to be a very easy problem to solve. Especially since it worked in 1.0.
For the record I have made a bug report and got the response that it was a known issue.

For subsytem BPCs you get a 20 run from an intact relic and a 10 run from a malfunctioning. Have not tried the hulls or the wrecked relics yet. Still not sure the wrecked are worth the failure rates with the price of datacores as high as they are.

Regarding the T3 changes.
I ran 24 total Reverse Engineering runs. 21 were Malfunctioning relics of all 6 types. 3 were Wrecked Hulls.
Out of the successes that I got, all were 10-run prints except Thruster's. I got a 3-run and an 8-run print.
Is this expected? or should I file a BR?

Unfortunately, Backdaft, I must say that I have to agree with just about 100% of what you said. I also totally understand your frustration(s), and your putting across your points in the sledgehammer manner you employed. I feel the same way, but am basically so tired of banging my head against what seems to be a fairly substantial and still intact wall that, usually, I just don't even bother to complain or post any longer. It wears you out -- especially when you get no decent feedback, or they say they fixed things in a patch when they didn't. You feel like you pretty much have to start all over again.
Sound is a sense just about as important as sight. It should have been a top priority to be fixed, and relentlessly worked on till it was. PERIOD!!!
What is most disappointing is that, at least I felt, the sounds were working quite well prior to Apocrypha, and then they broke it; while at the same time touting (I forget what they were touting) new sound "features."
Also, FWIW, my EVE News on the login area now is nerfed, too. It takes forever to come up. I've put it on an RSS feed now because I'm not going to sit and twiddle my thumbs for 30 to 45 seconds while logging in just to see if there is anything new that I might want to read.
May the Gods be with you, Backdraft, for not giving up the fight.

Also the probing problems but more so the MASSIVE UI lag when probes are moving, I mean I'd take less lag over different prob sphere backgrounds anyday.

A few thoughts: 1) Scamming: I scam. I admit it. It's fun. That said, any patch that prevents someone from using a confusing game mechanic to scam isk is just a thief. A scam should be classed as PvP, not PvEvP. You can scam by playing statistics and group psychology, or you can get in close and personal to your mark and swindle them that way, but I want to be the one doing the scam, not leaving it to the system. If the system is doing the scamming the game mechanic is simply broken. Good job on getting rid of freeforms.
2) Adding new features like walking in stations and such is a good thing. I want a more diverse game. I want to play another way when I've done everything else. If CCP doesn't continue to deliver on new mechanics and game play at a constant rate (which I feel like they've been doing well) most of us are gonna get up and go play something else. Jumpgate Evolution is just around the corner, after all... (***poke poke! atmospheric flight for frigs and fighter classes please, CCP! ). Consider this too: how much has EvE changed since it was introduced? I think it's a lot different. And it's much better because it's more diverse in how you can play.
3) ...and though 2 digressed a bit there, it brings me to that comment about people jacking loot. For starters, that's ironic as hell coming from a scammer who just uses a confusing game mechanic to "scam" his isk. Second, salvaging is an awesome new profession, and if people want to use it to diversify the general tact of piracy so much the better. EvE needs more pirates in my humble opinion. I like seeing more opportunities for the lone wolf 'a la Freelancer.
4) I think people are over stating the probing bugs. Yah, they are annoying, but anyone who does a lot of scanning isn't bothered too much by them, and the new system is a vastly better system than the old one. (can you even imagine waiting over 120 seconds for EACH SCAN anymore?) ...plus the new system looks way cooler, if I may say so.
5) Finally, I'm looking forward to more accessible T3. I think it'll be another great game changer.

i simply love the new probing system - can't understand your are complaining about ok in the beginning we were flooded with none distinguishable results especially in wormholes, and the filters we have make the impression of a quick shot, they definatly need some love, but reverting to old system ??? never
The UI is easy enough to understand and you need some brains to place the probes in space to get fast and good results - perfect for me :-)

After first reading 8 pages, send to another site with another 3 pages to read, and still dident found 1 forum post, regarding mining, and the "fixes" they made in this patch.
1. Where are there any improvements for miners, there are several bugs when mining the ore that doubles it self, but cant be removed, have to eihter do a warp, or open/close (does not working in space) and open/close/open for cargo in station in order to show it correct. Irretating bug, and time consuming in a mining ops.
2. I still dont understad why CCP dident give any tools for the CEO/directors to handle mining ops. taxes, ore hauled who does what, a possibility to kick from payment if they are inactive, or to let them less payed (ohh almost forgot to mention a payout system for miners/haulers and Orca supported mining ops.) - I have been around since 2005, and did a petition about same issue back then, and still not even ONE try to do that.
Miners and mining Corp. have to use 3. party programs like "Mining Buddy" www.miningbuddy.net - a database PHP program/webbased site, for helping corp. to keep track on the mining ops. But that program have flaws, due to that its not in any way in communication with Eve. - so all have to be typed in manually, and noone can see any log on how much there have been hauled, and to where its dropped. When will CCP start to develop some tools for CEO/directors to handle mining ops in a proper way ?
What Mining Buddy can do, should have been implemented from beginning in Eve, to control mining ops. - But CCP "forgot" about this, and still no sign that this should be changed or ?

I have to say this, because I just read the thread, and most of the posts are whines, rather than comments.
Do you honestly think CCP are going to listen to you if you chide and deride them? Is insulting people an effective way of getting what you want? All you do with this mindless whining is make the developers think: "we can't win no matter what we do", and therefore they become demotivated, and less is done as a result.
If you feel that something is not working, please argue your point in a constructive way. Put forward your reasons why you feel it isn't working, but do so calmly and politely. Don't rant and nerdrage in the way that seems to be so common. It just shows social ineptitude.
I have issues with the Factional Warfare lag, but I do try to express my issues without resorting to the kind of childish tantrums I so often see. I know these things take time, but I also appreciate that it helps the developer to get accurate feedback. Whining like children in the fits of a temper tantrum is not conducive to that.

Is it me, or was there a handy "Stealth Nerf" included with the last patch? I used to keep a Basilisk at my POS to repair the shields and the armor on guns, etc. Well, since the patch, Large Remote Armor Repairs have mysteriously jumped up to 600 grid each, meaning I can fit *1* where as before I could fit 6. I guess this is ccp's way of saying that now I need to go train amarr cruiser 5 so I can buy and keep a Guardian at the POS also? I understand about RR gangs or what not, but this seems excessive, since Logistic's Cruisers can't exactly take a lot of punishment, and BS's still have plenty of grid if people wanted to load them out with RR's.

good patch CCP
I'm not sure, but I think the problem they're talking about is that the probing system stops the client from rendering. When the probes are moving, whether being retrieved or sent to scan, the client fails to render frames anymore. This was not a problem in 1.0, but showed up I think in 1.1 patch and has not been fixed yet. The probing system uses too much in the way of resources now and is a pain to use. I have used probing for a long time, but it's annoying when your client locks up for 5-6 seconds every time you scan and even longer when the probes have to move farther.

Bye-bye freeform contracts, never used them, good riddance. IMO anything that's not a scam can easily be handled by the available contract forms. People usually search for item exchange and auction contracts anyway when they are looking for things to buy.
The new probing system is one of the things about Apoc that really made me happy. At first I thought that it would even be too simple to use, but after using it for a while I feel it's really one of the better balanced parts of the game now. Kudos for that!
Apart from that, I can only say thanks - the game has evolved really nicely over the last two years, and with a little tolerance for the unavoidable bugs here and there in a system as complex as EVE one can REALLY enjoy playing the game. Hell, that's exactly what I am going to do just now, while all the whiners/scammers/[insert useless profession here] are active smacktalking in the forums, yay :D

Learn to read. Nobody is asking for the old probing mechanics back.
What we're talking about is this:
Originally by: Nitrocloud I'm not sure, but I think the problem they're talking about is that the probing system stops the client from rendering. When the probes are moving, whether being retrieved or sent to scan, the client fails to render frames anymore. This was not a problem in 1.0, but showed up I think in 1.1 patch and has not been fixed yet. The probing system uses too much in the way of resources now and is a pain to use. I have used probing for a long time, but it's annoying when your client locks up for 5-6 seconds every time you scan and even longer when the probes have to move farther.
and this:
Originally by: Dungheap lose the 'honeycomb' effect on the probe bubbles, and the dark shadow on the solar plane. the mechanics i can learn and deal with but being unable to see the probes makes it near impossible in many systems.
Until the lag and filters are taken care of, which I'd presume were the harder issues to tackle, an easy way to make probers' lifes easier would be to simply remove the honeycomb sphere graphics and revert them to the simpler graphics they had from the start, which was working OK and you could see the direction arrows just fine.
CCP, wouldn't this be a simple graphics fix, and something you could do to ease the pain while we wait for the other issues to be resolved?

Hey I just wanted to let you all know what I think of the way that we now do new characters. I think that not being able to choose your career (like the old versions) puts new players at even more of a disadvantage because when I started a while ago I was able to pick a character that had a lot of skill points and a lot of skills already completed and even some skills already at level 5. Well I think that the older players have an even more of an advantage over new players now because of this. I recently decided to open another account that I was gonna pay for but I don't want to do that because I don't have no damn skills. So maybe I don't understand maybe they give you skills later but I think that having a bunch of skills when you start is way nicer than having to spend a lot of time catching up to everybody else. So I just wanted to let you know my input. Thanks

However I want to stete here something to those who cry Can flip, scamm and other nerfs related scamming or traping.
Blody morons, it's an HiSec come to LowSec do that! What cant? Why not? What can kill only noobs? ****breaks! Learn to play the game or quit. Dont whine like punch of morons to people who have made hardwork so you would have life.
One thing to CCP tho: Im still waiting the time when HiSec is realy HiSec and LowSec is LowSec and 0.0 is 0.0. What i mean no sensors should track Cyno openings in there. :D

I have never understood this complaint. The probing bubbles are fine, I can see through them normally on my PC, even when I have them overlapping. Perhaps it's your video card/display that's craptastic? --Vel

It does the same on mine. At large scan ranges, i can see everything. When the scan ranges get smaller, the shadows get worse and worse.
Also, the center plane does cast a very dark shadow on the probes.
Hilariously enough, i have shadows turned off.

So no one else experienced that the torpedos got a big speed/range nerf?? Even the Javelins the Advanced Long Range Torpedoes got a biiig nerf, their range is almost halved so WTF??? 25km range for a LONG RANGE torpedo? Torpedos were never designed for long range. They have ALWAYS been short-range weapons. Use cruise missiles if you want range; torpedos pack a bigger punch but you have to be closer. Also, skills help too.

Haven't noticed yet, must be another succesful attempt at making stealth bombers useless. The reason why I haven't noticed is because of the black screen my main alt has now, due to this patch. Apart from the continuing series of 'Socket Lost' errors which seem not to have been addressed..

In my opinion the probe bubbles have added a puzzle element into the EVE game I don't like. If I wanted puzzles i would have bought one, not EVE.

but we can now buy the evemusic on itunes. That had a higher demand on the side on ccp, but we should be greatfull that CCP chosed RealX and his "GREAT" music. (sarcasum)
But to write it, in a software as complex as EvE there are always errors in it and parts some people don't like. So it is nice to know somethings don't change in EvE.

Omg i have never read such moaning in all my life. Thers always someone that gets ****ed off with a patch, im sure they are doing ther best to make the game better. Why is it everytime CCP releases a patch people feel the need to get up on their soap boxes and whine like *****es. Just stfu and play the game or dont. CCP will get the message either way. Its a feedback thread, constructive comments are what this thread is all about, not "Well done CCP for craptastic work" blah blah. Grow up ffs.

i work at an internet cafe and EVE patch day is a week after actual patch day to allow for all the fallout and post patch fixes.
i know you guys work hard and coding something this huge must be a bastard to debug. but isnt that what singularity is for? Or do you need the stress of a live environment of 40k players to test it thoroughly? -

CCP, Iknow that in the past i have been quite the vocal thorne in your ars but i must say, I played eve last night for a while and the system was stable and ver enjoyable for an update. No glitches that could see. I did some scanning, the only thing that could see there was that the when moving the bubbles, they were a bit sluggish >laggy< when trying to move them but thats it. I havent seen yet if the sounds are still screwed up yet,...If you havent fixed them yet,...Please OH please do so,.....Ill even bake you some cookies and sent them to you if you do,...and ill eve put some serious love in them just for yo guys. Wha ti need to know is how many are there at CCP Iceland so i can start making the cookie doe,...I want to make sure that i make enuf cookies for all you guys. all joking aside CCP,...Good job,...or here in the states as we say,.....

Whoa! It is 1.6 million sp. The significant loss of start up sp's extends the time sink of this game by 1/2 year minimum! I started a new character after this "new change" and it sux!
Why in the world are you concentrating on a NEW Patch before you fix the one released in March???? You took a great idea, let it work for a few weeks and through various patches destroyed it? Why? This makes absolutely no sense, like we aren't going to notice the f'ed up condition of the game, you just keep piling crap on top of, messing with boats we already trained for, etc.

This was done so people could choose which skills they wanted to take the time to learn rather than handing them a preset list which may include skills they don't want or care about.
This sux
Actually, math has proven that you gain alot more time compared to the old system. The double training speed coupled with the fact that you get through your learning skills in a jiffy, means you are actually training extremly well comming out of the double speed. _________________ - Rivqua - --- R.E.P.O. --- |

I noticed a massive reduction in login time. When i say massive i mean that it went from over 2 minutes (the Authentication bar was stuck at 50%) to logging in after 5 seconds.

Originally by: Col Eraser Hey I just wanted to let you all know what I think of the way that we now do new characters. Thanks

Actually you are comparing quarters to dimes in 5 gallon jugs. On first glance the quarters dupe the ignorant into selecting the quarters. $.25 vs $.10, simple choice. Actually he dimes are worth more. Same applicable here. A new player starts at a much reduced skill point start point. The speed up is only for the initial 1.6 m sp. after tht it is back to the normal snail pace. The loss of the initial skill points to the reduced initial sp is devastating and takes 6 additional month to make up. That is a time sink.
You can comeup with some convaluted formula, as CCP did to justify your opinion, however, it does not change reality. I am doing it. I know where i was sp wize 3 months into the game 1 year ago and where i am now with the new character. Reality don't lie. Your math is askew.

Neurovisual input matrix droprates do not appear to have increased as stated in the patch notes. Unlike datacores which saw immediate increases in volume daily jita trade of neurovisuals is almost the same as it was pre patch. All the extra BPCs are nice but without this bottleneck material T3 prices will remain high. Is this issue being looked into and when can we expect it to be addressed?
Remember that unless 54 neurovisual input matrix are dropped for every "rare" blue salvage it will continue to be the bottleneck.

Mission text box (opened from journal) no longer refreshes correctly when mission completes.
When the mission text box is minimised during a mission it will go back to full size when the mission is complete. Prior to the patch the objectives complete in green text was added to the mission info but after the patch the text box must be closed and reopened from the journal to see the completed message

As metioned above by numerous foks -- neurovisua input matrix drop rate is consideraby out of wack with other items. you may want to ook into this. It has defacto become the dyspro of tech III production.

Clearly, you don't understand what just happened here. I'm far from crying, and I certainly havenÆt eve mailed you anything. I think you missed the part where you proved your own stupidity through your complete disregard for spelling and grammar, and therein the irony of you writing about someone else failing to say something smart. See what happened there?

Agreed.
The 1.3 patch has completely failed in its objectives of bringing down the prices of T3 ships for the simple reason that the drop rates for salvage have not changed. (In fact, I am selling the ships for slightly more now than before the patch).
If you want to achieve this objective the sleeper loot tables need to be looked at urgently. (And dont just increase neurovisuals, coz that will cause another bottleneck). Also, the rare polymer gas types are just as rare and any increase in salvage drops would likely cause a bottleneck there, so they need to be looked at too.
Thanks

A quick analysis shows that, even though, tech 3 production is very compex and need a lot of materials and loots, 69% of a tech 3 basket price (hull + 5 subsystems) is determined by only one salvage : NIM !
Moreover, since NIM are use in every tech 3 production line, the demand is huge so their price will up soon very fast, bringing with it the price of tech 3 ...
I hope that someone smart at CCP, and I know that most of the guys there are actually smart, find a solution to reduce tension on NIMs (I think both an action on NIM"s prevalence in tech 3 production and NIM's drop rate must be done)

Few minor requests/suggestions.
1) Can you make "Jumps" and "Items" to be sortable columns in the Personal Assets window?. This would allow players with assets strewn across the Universe (like myself) to be able to identiyf nearby assets (by sorting on "Jumps" column) and also identify systems which have alot of assets in (by sorting "Items" column).
2) Probing. I like the new probing system ... BUT, please please please change the colour of the probe boxes and arrows - anything bright will do, bright green, bright yellow, just NOT dark grey to blend into the dark space background!!!
3) Add a tiny box to the main screen (top/left perhaps) so that you can quickly type in the next waypoint (if you know it) without having to go into the whole map screen etc.
4) In stations, add to the right click menu of a ship or an item to Repair that item.
5) Allow the submission of multiple blueprints for identical Research, Invention, or Manufacturing jobs so that you dont have to always do the same thing one by one. This is particularly tedious when running relatively short invention jobs on modules.
Thanks for reading.
