empire hasn't suffered from nearly enough chaos and misery, since the great war only affected that population willing and daring enough to visit 0.0. that means something like 80% of you missed out on the delights
to help spread the love, i've penned a lil column not only telling the history of the jihad and it's prophet (karttoon, the sheik) but including a handy how-to guide to get everyone started in the joyful process of utterly ruining empire for law abiding citizens, especially those who stay 'immune' to wardecs by remaining in npc corps

as of right now there's supposed to be 'bullet points' on the last section which is the guide, but apparently this didn't work with TTH's formatting so just imagine the bullet points until we get that fixed~

If you get your 4k EHP Hulk popped by some suicide monkey it's really your own fault. Only dent you might get in the ice mining population, then again they're all on the same grid, so a single CONCORD response saves the lot until next downtime.
It's easy to adapt, so the suicide monkeys exercising some evolutionary pressure is probably healthy for the general EVE population survivability.

Good read. Weve managed to kill hulks in a 0.8 system using 4 thoraxes launched out of low sec and have killed one traveling as far as 7 jumps through high sec despite our collective security status of -10.
Props to jihadswarm for the inspiration.

for those worried about tanked hulks:
1. scout and scan the target with your ship-scanning, loot-scooping alt
2. megathron w/neutron blasters, heat, faction ammo, 4x magstabs
2a. buddies/multiboxing, just use multiple ships (thoraxes, brutixes) to bring them down
3. people who faction-tank a hulk drop more loot and cry more when you kill them

This doesnt always work either. We killed a Hulk in a 0.7 system that we missed the first time due to lag issues, but we refit and came back 15 minutes later and got him. His shields had recharged but he was in half structure because of our first attempt. Serves him right for either afking or ignoring the need to repair his ship.

Yes and no. My kills list is populated by quite a few .8 and higher hulk kills. People don't bother to tank at ALL in .8 and higher. You can easily pop a hulk with just 2 volleys from a Megathron. So few people tank for .8 and higher that I'm going to try brutixing some 1.0 hulks later today.
The most important thing: check that your CSPA charge is *NOT* set to 1 million isk! I worked my butt off ganking hulks and mackinaws last week. Not a single tear. Not a single piece of fan mail. My victims didn't feel it important enough to spend even a million ISK to tell me how they felt.
Even the ones who didn't keep regularly warping belt to station in a pod for several hours afterward.
And in summary, bigger blobs are the answer. Now what was the question? |

You don't need faction mods to get to 30k EHPs. And sure, if you blob enough the hulk will eventually die. Active tanks are fail against suicide ganks anyways, so don't hope for too many gistii and pithi shield boosters from people that know what they're doing. Numb nubs that *don't* know what they're doing need to die anyways, no better way to learn in EVE than dying a few times.

Causing someone grief is not the same as the mmorpg term "griefing". Blowing up a ship in FW can give your enemy grief, finishing all the exploration sites before your competition logs on will give them grief, but is not "griefing". Nice try though.

Just a word of caution: it's easier to double the number of armageddons in the suicide gank fleet than it is to double the EHP of your hulk to survive the alpha strike.

Because the Faction Police don't warp scramble (immediately)... they do, however, stasis web you... making you insta-warp to the next gate.
Assuming some annoying player doesnt warp scramble you, you can fly right across the map as a flashy red - I've done it in a BC before from Aridia through to The Forge :D
Just don't go through the concord constellations - Yulai and systems near there - because the faction police, whilst not "CONCORD" Concord, are labled "Concord"... and they give you a GCC which stops you from jumping through gates :(

And getting Concord in the belt doesn't save you. There's a delay before they start locking and neuting/shooting the ebil piwates. During that time a group of gank dessies and waste a Hulk.

I'm not sure if it's possible to have a serious discussion anywhere on eve-o (and especially in the c&p forum), but I'm wondering if you think the (relative) ease of suicide ganking in high-sec empire - especially if you are two or more people - is a good thing? and/or as intended?
I've never mined myself (other than some minor can-flipping, but I dont think that counts!), but I'm sorta learning towards it being too easy and i dont really think it has a positive effect on the game, as a whole.. I mean alot of people play this game just to do high-sec stuff and have fun there. I think we need them, and they should be allowed to do their stuff.
Otoh I'm a firm believer in people not being safe afk'ing away in empire (and I'm completely onboard with larger fleets suicide ganking freighters), so I'm kinda torn on the issue.
Anyway, nice read.

They never could achieve anything in south without RA. They never could achieve anything by themselves against BoB. Most of the fight was done by NC, and Goons just took the 'glory'.
Goons haven't ever really had a fight, against anyone.

Bingo. Not really sure how much suicide ganking of hulks the OP has actually done, but recommending using BS in the guide seems inefficient. You also dont need to bother with a scram as the alpha of 3-4 catalysts will kill it before it can even warp. You can even kill a mackinaw with a single catalyst. If you would like to see a demo of the approach used by pros... check this vid.
