Sorry to burst your bubble but Britain was in the pacific war too and was loaded with the bigger burden.
And the French were heavily involved in the war of independance, to the point of changing it's outcome very significantly.
Gotta feel sorry for the French sometimes, they've helped and given America over the years, only to receive abuse in return.

German actually. During the early immigration years a lot of Germans came over making a majority of the north east of German origin. It almost won the vote over English.
Edit: Those same German immigrants are the ones that made the beer that everyone calls crap. I always giggle when Germans complain about it.

Uh, no. For starters we were already over there while the war in Europe was still going. The strategy put in place was to take down Germany first with Britain and the US and in the mean time we had just enough troops to keep Australia safe. In fact the major difference between the 2 wars of ww2 was that Britain played a major leadership role in the Europe's along with the US (once we got there) but in the Pacific it was mainly the US (with New Zealand and Australia as partners).
Now this does not say that the British did nothing. they lead a smaller, but just as important, campaign through India with the Indian army to take back the oil fields from Japans.
Now for fleet warfare the British had four battleships, eighteen aircraft carriers, and eleven cruisers while the US had while the US had almost 3 times that by 1944 and the entire operation was led by Nimitz and McArthur.
But as for actual happenings the US were the ones in Battle of Midway which was the deciding factor for the Japanese fleet. The US were the ones that took Iwo Jima which was crucial for the later bombings on Japan itself. And of course there is the final ending by the US which I really don't like to discuss.
