I have the same ASUS mainboard and get this issue at least once a session, often up to half a dozen Formerly Voidhawk

It happens on my AMD(ME) allot more then it happens on my P4 (Win2k). What operating systems are you using? What other programs are loaded?

I have a biostar M7ncg mobo & nvidia chipset & I also have this problem. I have also noticed I have the problem much more often ( but not exclusively ) when there are many objects being rendered on the screen.
I have a 1.7mghrtz processor, 500 megs of ddr ram, & have had the problem with both my old nividia geforce 4 & with my new radeon x800.
I first had the problem on 7/23/04 in Mies. I know this b/c i can refer to the eve-mail i received from Concord, as I lost a Typhoon during my first experience with this lovely bug. I have had it several times since, always in a battle with a largish number of npc ships present, or occaisionally not during combat, but in places where there were large numbers of either player ships or objects fairly close by.
hope this helps. -- Jump Drive Operation / Rank 5 / SP: 1280000 of 1280000

Screen shake / lag when warping to gate happens just about daily. I just treated it in the same way as when the ships used to stick together and "ho hum another eve bug" hence didnt report it.
XP3200 Abit board (NF7 series) Nforce2 here so its not just Asus.

Edited by: Trezerami on 25/09/2004 08:58:28 Edited by: Trezerami on 25/09/2004 08:55:53 I get this bug regularly also. Strange thing is I have two accounts / two computers. Both machine's configs are more or less identical but it occurs only on one machine and not the other.
The machine it occurs on is wired straight to the internet router, the machine that works fine is sharing this connection over a network, so the problem can't be an ISP or a network problem. It's as if the client disconnects or stops receiving packets for a number of minutes and then suddenly catches up. The other account is always operating fine when it occurs. It seems to occur completely at random every few hours.
Machine it occurs on :-
Windows XP Pro Asus A7N8X Deluxe Athlon XP 3000 Radeon 9800 Deluxe
Machine that is fine :-
Windows XP Home Asus A7N8X-X Athlon XP 3000 Radeon 9700 Pro

I've seen this 1 or 2 times before. I don't know what the problem is but i have MSI motherboard, amd 2400+ XP and Nvidia Geforce3, along whit 1GB ram and 2mb adsl connection (512kb from me). I have router box and that is connected to 100mb swich on the local network, that i have.
This happens when i am near an astroid and i try going to warp. I just stop the ship and move to other object and just warp from there, when i am half way trugh to it and in clear space. Lost in Space |

Edited by: Aralin Desentris on 26/09/2004 11:39:08 Edited by: Aralin Desentris on 25/09/2004 11:16:21 I get this 1 or 2 times a day , but only on one of my comps . Screen seems to do a sudden flip , and goes un-resonsive from this comps view , yet the commands do go to the server , as have clicked to warp somewhere , and watched my ship warp off on my other account .
Abit NF7s MB ( Nforce2) Athlon 2200xp Radeon 9600pro 128 running at 8x Soundstorm onboard sound 1gig ddr 400 onboard 100 lan using ADSL pci modem. Xp Pro
Network is using ICS , main comp screen freezes and ship appears to be doing nothing, but commands do continue to the server .
Second Comp
Soltek Mb Athlon 750 768 SDram No sound card Radeon 9600 pro 128 XP pro connects through main comp using ICS
Done tracerts using pingplotter from the un-affected comp ( second comp )and network traffic appears fine on that one .
edit :- am gonna disable the onboard sound and put an old soundcard in , to see if that helps , also gonna drop agp from 8x to 4x on the main comp

Weird, seems like all nvidia users has this problem. I had this same bug couple of times, but havent had it anymore in roughly 2months.
3200+ XP B abit an7 nforce2 400 (drivers:4.24) 1gb 400 dual-channel gf fx5950(drivers: 56.72)
I'm not sure did my problems vanish with the current gfx-drivers I got or is it just coincidence. Oh, and I am also running win XP pro. --

This is getting more than wierd. We're looking into the specific hw combos. You experiencing it on one of two machines in the same room is beyond wierd.
Those of you that have 2 machines, you likely have a router, but are any of you using one of the other machine as an software router? Like Internet Connectio Sharing or such?
The fact that you see packet stop for a prolonged period is whats bugging me. And that you seem to have eerily similar hw combos. However I can't for the life of me think how an Nvidia card could affect networking.
It could be the other way around, that the monitor doesn't show anything when everything freezes up. Does _everything_ freeze? Then it might as well be something in the renderer that happens.
Any extra info is appreciated to pinpoint where this is happening. If you can reproduced, I'd appreciate a log server + dxdiag log + pingplotter from that playing period. The pingplotter lets us see if the network of the machine is stopping (the internet connection sharing thing) or if it just seems like it stops because the monitor also freezes. _____________________________ I say hey sky, s'other say I won say, I pray to J I get the same ol' same ol. |

Yeah it is wierd, and I also have the Asus A7N8X mobo, with nforce2 chipset
I sent in a pingplotter report to [email protected] like you said, but imo it didnt show anything wierd beyond lots of lag on the overseas hop. The issue doesn't happen when entering warp only, I've had it occur when I wasn't even touching the controls.
I'll try and get this thing to happen to me today while running log server, fraps, dxdiag, pingplotter..etc. The sucky part is I have a race today and I'm pretty worried this will cost me the qualifier totally.

Windows XP Pro (SP2). ASUS A7N8X-E Deluxe mobo (nForce2). ATI Radeon Pro (128Mb). Connecting via 512k ADSL (Netgear DM602 router).
I'm not suffering from this problem.

Originally by: Faramir I've had this since the start of the game. I seem to be able to reproduce it by changing my windowsclock. This seems to trigger the same effect. Try it and see if i'm right?
I'm gonna try the AGP 8X thing.
Its funny you should say this,
I used to get the identical bug about2 months ago which co isided when my BIOS wouldnt retain setting like time ect because i was using to many high power USB devices. ----------------------------------------------
