Snot Shot Minmatar Interstellar Brotherhood of Gravediggers Privateer Alliance	Posted - 2009.07.10 13:00:00 - [1] So now that it's settling down a bit I thought I'd present a perspective for discussion related to the current direction of 0.0 politics which I have been thinking about these last few months. No, I'm not going to start in with the usual purse swinging that's been going on in here for the last 5 months but I might ask "Is it true that 84%................" at the end of this so stay tuned... Here goes... We as a Community now stand at the crossroads in EVE history where BoB has been dismantled and all whom ever had an old axe to grind got to stand over the grave, cast in the chip or tissue carried for so long, and wipe the slate clean. In the end BoB had waged war against too many thus producing far more enemies than allies for which they have now paid the ultimate price. With that said and done, I had one question as I headed out to NOL to take a look around......did they leave anything of note behind?....besides Delve.... As I wandered the dark halls of the NOL-M9 station I came across the ransacked office of SirMolle and strolled in to take a look around. The place was trashed and smelled like scotch and cigars, files were strewn about and yet a picture of him with trademark pink hat and cigar still hung neatly on the wall untouched as if it was kryptonite to some.... When I turned to walk out I noticed a thick file on the floor labeled "GoonSwarm - 2006" wrapped by a large rubber-band. Not really in any rush I decided to picked it up take a seat in Molle's old chair and have myself a read. To my surprise there was a few good smokes and a half pint left in the top draw so I fired one up, took a good pull of scotch, and opened the file...... Quote: "First, to those who don't 'get' goons. Taking another drink I wrote down a few questions which I pose to you all below... * Do you think BoB saw early on what GoonSwarms plan was for EVE and therefore tried to rid the game of them? * Do the Alliances whom have now settled their old scores with BoB understand that GoonSwarm is a cancer within EVE and nothing to keep it in check now? * Is this the vision we have for EVE? To rally behind and have the face of EVE be "an entire alliance of griefers and forum trolls" whose only goal is to make others time in-game miserable? * Is the tipping point close at hand where the EVE community will finally rally together with the single focus of taking back OUR game? At this point my concentration was broken as SouljahBoy came screaming into the room thrashing wildly about yelling "we live to post pubby tears like yours on our forums, we sh*t ourselves laughing when we see the cascade failure of homoerotic gatherings such as yours!!".......he then slipped on some files and knocked himself out... There has only ever been one consistent message Goons have been sending to us and laughing the whole time..itÆs the only consistent message we receive from Goons since they joined our game. Everything else they say changes with the situation they are in, yet their mantra has stayed since the beginning...... Just sayin......Do we "Get Goons" now? Dr. Shot.. Just sayin.....

Funny thing here is that the "mantra" in that chat can be found in almost every Goon post in local or forums daily so for you to try and cover it up with "it was done for me" is actually pretty lame.. And then again you clutch tight the bones of BoB past to hide behind with the "its not going to be Ken" and the "I'm not alone" cries about a dead and gone "threat" that Goons existence has stood upon for years. Goons are alone now......all 6,000 of you, and now you are saying that if the EVE community wants to get rid of Goons they are to just "wait for you to get bored and atrophy"? So if we want you to leave we should just let Goons sh*t on our game but leave you alone until you get bored with us as a toy one day and walk away? I think you make my case more clear each time you post.... If you are playing to listen to the screams of outraged fellow players there is a limit to what griefing in eve can achieve as opposed to griefing more obviously softcore environments. Lets face it - who would expect to be able to hold a wedding in lowsec in Eve Online and not see the bride and groom ganked and podded before the priest finished saying dearly beloved :) To be honest I think griefing CAOD out of all relevancy is the Goons biggest accomplishment and the one they'll be renowned for when the story of eve is written. In many ways they've managed to undermine the role that 0.0 alliances play in the common political reality of Eve Online and built an almost inassailable firewall between nullsec and hisec/lowsec players / going so far as to invent a new language to baffle and alienate anyone outside the club. Its actually quite impressive in a dark way - but when I read CAOD these days it is giving off Escape from New York vibes and I do get the strong impression Eve community management is counting on mods to build a wall round the place and keep the lunatics inside the asylum. Still its worth reading back to eve before the Goons on CAOD and seeing just how much influence 0.0 used to have over the game as a whole that now it almost completely lacks. The Goons might well have failed to Grief Eve Online - but they sure as hell managed to grief the 0.0 warlords of the early years out of all relevance to the rank and file populous of this mmorpg and hats off to them for that! 3rd Forces in FW - discuss!

According to your statements above we are to understand that: 1) EVE membership has grown substantially since 2007.......ok thanks for the update. 2) Actions of Goons have produced more press than ever for EVE.....eluding to Goons responsible for 1) 3) Goons are killing PvP of EVE replacing it with backstabbing and sht talking anyone who is not a Goon. 4) Goons make the game more interesting.......for other Goons. Certainly you did not mean the anyone else? So lets say your right on 1 & 2 and this massive wave of memberships are because of the actions of Goons and the out-of -game articles about them. All these articles are about how Goons fuked over a large number of people by metagaming. So then the next logical question is who is reading these articles and then heading to their computers to join EVE? Welp......people like Goons. So with the detail provided we can get a pretty clear picture as to where Goons are taking us. The current face of EVE to the public is Goons and their actions. Their actions attract others like them to the game who just want to do similar shtty things to people trying to have a good time. Thanks Goons for making the game more interesting for us...... Thats how you will hurt a goon. trolling goons is the most fun you can have out of game with Eve. you can do it from your PDA sitting in a coffee shop, or during your lunch break for a quick laugh. every time they respond its almost as good as podding one of them. you can even start assigning points to the different posting styles. you know, 5 for a standard meme repeated, 10 for a declaration of being irrelevant, etc. the real gold is one of them going all emo; worth a good 50 points. they are so desperate to grief you they are completely vulnerable to being controlled. the trick is to seem serious so they think you are really invested in the debate. they let their guard down because they think you have more at stake. if you play it right you get a great emo meltdown in the form of a long hurfblurf post. sometimes you get the neckbeard who gets so furious they start twitching and posting the same meme over and over. these arent as entertaining. feels like taking candy from a baby. goons cannot resist responding. why not farm it for all its worth ?

It is refreshing to see that a few things have obviously happened since this thread started: 1) Goons don't post as much smack anymore since they are trying very hard to change EVEs current perception of them as a cancer. 2) Goons are now taking EVE very seriously and getting very emotional during most posts that they make in CAOD and in local. 3) Goons are logging in a lot less now because of 1 & 2........ not fun anymore... Fear not, the August 1st date was a measuring point, I know how you all like them, to gather what responses I had to date. From where I stand it looks great and the fact that a majority of the responses I am getting are stating that they are setting Goons negative vs. resetting them is excellent since it seems Goons were not on many Alliance/Corp radars until now I guess. Common response was: Quote: We actually never had Goons set positive or negative until we saw your post. I response to this we have set Goons negative and this will never change. Keep up the good fight!! As far as the ôresetsö go it seems that, although I have gotten a bunch, those will begin to flow when the ôRainbow of Loveö NAP train breaks up and that wonÆt have anything to do with me. ItÆs funny to see that things are so exciting out there for Goons these days that they need to create fake drama (WI in F2) to keep their pilots interested these days..
