Um so remind me again why , and what was wrong woth the old system. and why it was fixed when it really was not broken to begin with.
I can get used to it if I have to but it is definately not a very user freindly UI, again don't fix the things that aint broke!! |

EDIT 2: Some other told you so before ... Yet they went ahead with the change.. https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=104539&find=unreadCCP we also like to have multiple windows open that don't reset with a session change. People find it difficult to mine, run missions, browse pos inventory. And I havent touched yet the subject where you multibox, where u preset your screen for a specific task. And then the inventory resets itself each time, making it a pain to multibox. NEW DEVBLOG CCP Soundwave wrote:Hello Spacefriends
We've been collecting and planning changes to the unified inventory system based on the various threads currently on the forums. The list right now is comprised of the issues we feel are most urgent after reviewing the feedback and by no means the final list of what will be fixed. It is a list of what we-¦re fixing right now and we can certainly add more stuff to be added when the schedule is a bit calmer.
Changes that are currently in production (being done as you're reading this)
Dealing with the multiple inventories of a POS is a nightmare and our first package will hopefully mitigate that. These are the changes weGÇÖre making: POS structures will go into a tree view, so guns will have their own category and so on. This should make it less cluttered and users can pick exactly which module group theyGÇÖre interested in. WeGÇÖre going to allow renaming of all POS structures, this should let players navigate more easily in the tree view, instead of a large group of identical items. Structures you can interact with and canGÇÖt interact with will be clearly marked, so the tree view will tell you which ones you can open and which ones you canGÇÖt (basically what youGÇÖre in range of, similar to the overview) Next up after that!
Shift-clicking works fine, but like with all shortcuts, you need to know it exists. WeGÇÖre going to allow inventories to be GÇ£dragged outGÇ¥ of the main UI. ItGÇÖs basically the same functionality as shift clicking, but instead of being hidden behind a hotkey, you can simply drag and drop it out with your mouse. Your active ship will be available both through the current tree but it will also be available in the hangar tree, to avoid confusion. When you use a shortcut to open a specific bay, it will open in GÇ£separatedGÇ¥ mode, with the tree view compact so you can quickly get the view you want. The main UI will always be available from the Neocom, even when you have separated windows open. Two issues weGÇÖll fix but have not found the exact solution to
There are two things we-¦d really like to change but don-¦t have a nailed down solution to just yet.
One is persisting windows that only work in certain places (you have a window that only works in the station and you want it to be open and in the same location the next time you dock for example).
The other is some sort of visualization of your ship in the inventory. Whether itGÇÖs a thumbnail or something else isnGÇÖt sure, but weGÇÖre working to hammer these two down and get them in as well.
Anyway, that-¦s it for now, you should start seeing these items slip on to TQ shortly. Thank you for your feedback!
I'd like the whole old system back instead of waiting for CCP to slowly change it back to how it was with some glitter on it

I agree - use the new code and bring back old functionality!
Tree view can be nice in some circumstances, but I still would like to fly around with my trunk open - and without it being affected when clicking on the inventory button.
Some inventories should have their own independent windows!! I have feelings, I can smile - and murder while! |

Posting in the thread because of the truthiness.
Seriously guys, the new system is still too damned fiddly and unpredictable to use without the old buttons we all loved. How hard can it be to put the buttons back (and the right-clicky context menu items too) and make them open a new window viewing appropriate default spots in the tree?
I absolutely hate using the new system right now because it jumps around and acts inconsistently too:
- When you change ships, cargo holds and ship corp hangar windows close - PITA! - Double-click on a ship keeps changing ships instead of opening cargo like it used to, leading to above PITA! - Dropping items into a station corp hangar that you don't have view rights to keeps collapsing the tree view - PITA!
Please keep fixing it...

Just a bump since the unified inventory is still garbage.
It's a pain when you forget to make sure you have less than three inventory windows open before you log out. In my case I almost always have ships, items, and corp hangar open while docked, plus potentially ship cargo bay as well. If I leave three or more up when I log off, when I log back on none of the windows ever load until I cycle it with an undock. There were a couple times where it was bugged so severely that undocking wouldn't fix it and I'd see nothing (including my own ship, station, planets, sun, etc.) on overview or in space and docking through context menu wouldn't fix it either.
CCP just has a hard on for this new unified inventory crap, but least you can do is fix the bugs if you refuse to revert back to a working system. |

Shame this thread is still running because the new junk ui is still junk.My own personal pet hates are the useless values applied to the contents in inventory. This also slows down the selling of looted crap that I salvage after running a mission. And the other is the opening of my cargo hold when I loot a wreck. Why? A pointless excercise and adds to the lag ingame.Point and click selling from my last haul took over 10 minutes time spent waiting for the window to catch up with all the crap it wants to tel us. |

I have grown fond of the new UI. it has its flaws, but the filters are great and shift-click for windows works well. when using the right click menu they should open in a new window unless you can shift click that.
- open corp hangar directly - open ships hangar directly - open your station item hangar directly
Don't forget should be added to the right click menu - open fuel bay of ship right clicked if possible. - open your ship bay (of carrier / super ect. ) right clicked if possible. - open corp hanger (of carrier / super ect. ) right clicked if possible. - open drone bay of ship right-clicked right clicked if possible. (cause frankly having to get into a ship to take some drones out of its bay is silly.) |

I understand that the code needed to be cleaned up, but jacking up the front end (what we see in game) isn't acceptable.
CCP needs to consider reverting back to the windows and buttons pre-Inferno.

It's really just amazing that they're still piling crap on top of this terrible inventory system.
Primary windows, secondary windows. extra neocom buttons etc... and it still doesn't function remotely as well as the old system.
Can we please scrap this entire pile of garbage already!

I need some advice to adapt better to this new UI.
I bought a gamepad in order to navigate better in the UI, but i cant figure out how to activate the Starman bonuses for temporary invulnerability when I browse the corporation hangars.
http://www.mariowiki.com/List_of_Power-Ups
Anybody has the shortcut to activate the Starman Icons? I dont remember if it is shift left alt + alt gr + a+ b+ c+ d or is it shift left click click doubleclick clik shift right click doubleclick click?
Any help appreciated, i d like to try PvP with temporary invulnerability when i use gamepad.
If i find a mushroom icon , will my active ship icon turn fluorescent rainbow too ? I really like that plain green color but that would be nice for sure. |

Yes, the new inventory is improved. At the introduction it was crap. It is improved crap now.
I'm completely unhappy with it, even after the 'get-used-to-it' period. I'm not getting used to it.
If CCP would not ignore us, I would like to tell them to give us the old, functionning inventory back. |

I have station containers. I have at least a dozen in every station I have stuff in, and all of them have descriptive names so I know what they contain (i.e., "Skillbooks", "Hybrid Ammo", "Projectile Ammo", "T2 Hardware", etc..). I even bought a blueprint so I could make copies and take them to places where I need them, and then just produce them. This is my way of filtering, knowing what I have and where its at, all from the "Assets" button on my Neo-Com.
Filters will fail because they are tied into the UI.
Station containers won't.

I know that the UI devs hate usability and all, so I'm sure they only left the hotkeys in because they missed them, but anyway my days are filled now with alt-N for ships and alt-G for items. I still treat ships vs. items as different, because they ******* ARE different, and still open them in distinct ways. It's just less convenient.
Anyway, can they get around to removing the selected items window, so I can use hotkeys for that? And maybe they can make the modules to the right of the HUD non-clickable, so that I can ever use alt- and ctrl- function keys. |
