You guys should read your EULA. Cheat or no cheat, it's simply not allowed.
Quote:
7. CONDUCT A. Specifically Restricted Conduct (2) You may not use your own or third-party software to modify any content appearing within the Game environment or change how the Game is played.
'Nuff said.

They dissemble, evade, prevaricate, confound, confuse, distract, obscure, subtly misrepresent and wilfully misunderstand with what often appears to be a positively gleeful relish and are perfectly capable of contriving to give one an utterly unambiguous impression of their future course of action while in fact intending to do exactly the opposite, but they never lie. Perish the thought.

It's going so well for them solo that they are stricken with fear that we are using l33t hax to beat them.
As confirmed by Reptar of course: [ 2004.09.25 22:40:10 ] Reptar > oh nos but u use l33t h4x so dont lag
Basically, the PA have been ****scared for weeks that we are cheating to gain an advantage because we ain't scared to jump into their bigger blobs.
Anyone who was in the NVA will remember the same accusations being thrown at Biomass...
Fear does funny things to people.
If peeps are using some sort of mod' on the game then they should be banned 100%.
Just remember that cheaters never prosper in the long run.

I dont think you'll get massive community support on this partiicular hack 'cause ccp should have put it in the game ages ago.
But your right its about as lame as they come. If someones using this they have a clear an undisputed advantage over you, its no different to using an wallhack in an fps, and should be treated accordingly.
Its just a shame when a hack works by letting players use tactics and skill rather then the randomness of a lagfest Mostly harmless |

CCP is aware that there are players changing the code to give themselves an advantage in the game and are *always* looking for ways to catch and deal with these players. The Devs are also searching for ways to lessen lag (yesterday's Dev Blog and server upgrades, to name a recent few). Just because these are not mentioned on the forums on a regular basis doesn't mean that steps are not being taken.
As for those that cheat and are caught, player privacy will be respected. As satisfying as it may be to know that "X player was caught cheating and perma banned", that information will not be made public.

Why bother?
They got more important things to do, like patching in this no-model feature for all users, or magic away the horrible lag this ****ty looking game should not have in the first place.

So, in short, you're not pointing any fingers at anyone, and you still know for certain that this is being done.
And the common consensus as stated by Reptar, is that PA thinks we are doing this, and you're still not pointing any fingers?
I'll invite any developer/GM to check ANY and ALL of our members clients at ANY time.
I'm so sick of all these cheat accusations, be it implied, or hidden, or "not pointing fingers at anyone".

Bull**** Eddz.
You're not pointing any fingers, but this question of "killing the rendering of ships cheat" comes at a time when PA are throwing around accusations at the "C.C.P. Alliance" of exactly the same damn thing. You pathetic whining losers can't take losses without looking for excuses as to why you just plain suck.
Its so blatantly obvious you suspect us, that I don't see how this could possibly be any more offensive.
As for the cheat itself, I have never ever heard of anyone actually doing it - disabling model rendering. The whole exploit thing was made up when members complained about fleet lag and that CCP should add the option of icon-only interface. Since then its been used as an excuse by the losing side, over and over and over. If not an excuse, then at least a justification.
There is probably one person that I know in the EVE community that could probably pull this off without totally wrecking their client, and thats Ganja. And he doesn't play anymore.. much less care for an icon-only interface.
So for your information, we lag out just as much as you in fleet battle, if not worse - considering your side never wants to jump in on us.
I will give 10mil isk to the first Phoenix Alliance member that clearly states and admits the fact that one of the reasons PA never wants to jump in and/or justifies their loss due to C.C.P.'s aleged use of this exploit. _____________________________________ Perpetually driven, your end is our beginning. To be perfectly honest this should be an option on the game itself anyway. In order of priority I want:
Gameplay Stability Graphics
Having a slide-show in combat completely GIMPS Gameplay. I've asked for it before, I'll ask for it again, CCP: Give us an option to REMOVE ship / drone / missile models in this game, they are completely uneccesary for combat when we are zoomed out to the max.

I can't consider myself a coder or anything and sure as hell not an expert per se, but I actually DO see some difficulties to even pull this kind of cheat without completely fubarring the client. But then ... its always funny to talk to a buddy in one of the accused parties and have a laugh about how some ppl try to look for excuses which are getting more and more pathetic. What comes next? Will the darn sploiters go to CCP HQ and demand a godmode at gunpoint?

Wow... all this sounds pretty scary
Seriously you gotta have some huge balls to start cheating in this game. I mean... if they catch you doing it you're looking at loosing more than a year of playtime. Can you imagine the feeling when you realise that you just wasted >300$ because you tried to cheat?
I swear I'd shoot myself in the head. Not that I'd ever consider cheating though... takes away the challenge. Only loosers play without challenge

on a sidenote, fire the ******** that build the graphics engine. it needs an overhaul NOW. i mean, drawing perfect models cept for boosters and guns at 450km is COMPLETELY INSANE. make em 4x4 pixels of same color or something. it aint larger than that anyway --------------------------

Theres no way u gonna get everyone witht he same amount of lag, in the battle we had over the weekend i had very little others moaned of lots, theres been times when i've frozen and cant see other ships while others are fine, theres so many factors, inet connection, gfx card, cpu, sound on/off, logging on/off, auto scanner on/off, ui on/off.
There have been times when i've lagged and others when i have not in the same size battle i have no idea why and im pretty sure ccp dont either

LOL umm yes the lod system (level of detail) in Eve could do with a tweak or two. Any game I can think of has it (Operation Flashpoint has about 10-12, pretty much shines in that aspect) to reduce lag. If a game wouldn't use lods, it would lag with lots of stuff going on even if you played offline.
