OK...this is the question: What are your favorite warhammer 40k race?
Eldar Space Marines Dark Eldar Tau Necron Chaos Imperial Guard Tyranids
The reason i'm asking is...well...i'm just curious
Even if you dont play the board game(i dont) you are likely to know enough about it to have a favorite. so...which one is yours?
PS: I like the Tyranids!

2x choices.
Battle sisters (flammers everywhere!!!!) and Eldar spectral army (an army fully composed of spectral lords and guardians with very few few normal eldars units)
must say that anyway i like most of the old armies on wh40k -------------------------------------- You know what the chain of command is? It's the chain I go get and beat you with 'til you understand who's in ruttin' command here. |

Necrons. Ancient race awoken from their slumbering tomb worlds. A fusion from a dying race into robot like zombies from the power of the C'Tan.
And the monoliths are so cool.

Imperial Guard before the new Rule set. I really enjoyed the armored column.

Black Templars, followed by Imperial Guard in a close second.
There's just something cool about the normal guy who's given a flak jacket and a rifle and told to go fight that monstrous 8 foot alien or heretic that could crush your skull in one palm, and they do it.

Except of course when an enemy soldier gets lost, wanders into your line, and all of your guys die when he accidentally sneezes on them and the concussion rips them apart.

Lol no.
For me the Imperial Guard followed by the Tau. I love the Cold War on steroids look and play of the IG units and the Tau firepower is simply devastating when properly microed. Plus a Knarloc can take out a Monolith solo and still eat the rest of the leftover army for dessert. This is based on the rts games though as I don't have the desire to literally build my army from scratch at a cost of hundreds or even thousands of dollars then find someone else who arsed themselves to do the same thing so we can meet somewhere to fight on a big table moving one unit at a time and maually doing every calculation to determine the outcome.

Never played TT, but I have the Dawn Of Games and am interested in the 40K universe.
I like Tau best, both as enjoyable to play and their goals. In terms of the best army, I'll be boring and say Space Marines.

Fluff wise I would say the Imperial guard followed by the Mechanicus because Skiitari, Knights and Titans are just awesome.

Dark Eldar. :)
I get the weirdest looks when I go to stores and ask about new stuff. Most of the workers at my local store haven't even seen any DE stuff, outside of pictures and my own collection. Kind of sad, really. |

Imperial Guard because it's just awesome to put determination, heavy firepower and massed numbers of regular chaps against godlike enemies. --- Sol: A microwarp drive? In a battleship? Are you insane? They arenĘt built for this! Clear Skies - The Movie |

No, Space Marines are the pinnacle of generic Mary Sue culture. The Guard are awesome.

I have yet to see a single person collect Dark Eldar in the flesh, over here not even the guys at Games Workshop bother with them, it's like they were the uber mistake. The codex still has "SECOND EDITION!!" printed on the side.

While my experience comes form TT AND DoW, i find Tau in general have pretty nice tactical options to deal with nearly anything. Most times you can rescue your units with a good equipped crisis team and your commander (HQ in TT) or outmaneuver your enemy with your kroot troops (which is not that easy in the TT because the more Kroot the less firepower you have left). Also every Firewarrior troop needs its own transport vehicle.
Edit, as a logical consequence, my second most played race is Eldar.

I dunno. My experience comes entirely from the DoW game franchise, so um...
Imperial Guard, likely, followed closely by Tau, with the Sisters of Battle getting an honorable mention.
Space Marines are cool, but boring. Eldar are too fragile for me, though their mobility is unrivaled.
