I will replace it, rebuild and move on. However, I have always believed that a fight worth fighting, is only fought in self defense or to challenge one's self. Not simply because "I can". This seems cowardly and insincere to me.

Originally by: Emperor Cheney "honor" is a ridiculous concept in a video game, especially of the capital h "Honor" variety. I, personally, play this game straight. I don't pirate, I don't lie, none of that. But if it weren't for those who do, this wouldn't be a game at all. It would just be a whole lot of mining and really embarrassing roleplaying.
Euhm, why wouldnt there be fighting? Just because eve wouldnt be filled with people who only pvp for e-peen rights doesnt mean there would be no one left pvp'ing.

Nor did it apply to old warfare either. We look with romantic eyes on the past, only remembering the good stuff, while it was a basterd of a time, where **** an pillaging was the norm in warefare. "Good" times indeed. Today we are nice in comaprisson. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Yeah, and if you were not able to defend your land/property you would loose it. I believe that has applied through the ages of humanity and gaming.

Definition and spelling of honor Here
It was a poorly defended POS. Having a small facilitates mobility and I gambled that putting a small tower up, wouldn't seem worthwhile to destroy as opposed to a larger one with lots of isk invested. So my losses were small. Lesson learned, I suppose.

It wasn't the pos I cared about. It was the loss of my isk printing wormhole that blows the most. Poop.

Really. I don't identify any of the various concepts of honour one could mention with the dewy eyed snivelling happening in your posts.
I think you've picked the wrong word.

I was once playing chess with this guy and the bastard killed my king. That bloody regicide had no honor. Then I went to the chess forums and told everyone that because of this guys actions they lost a potential long term player.

What I once liked about this Game is, that it is your personal Choice how honourable you are, or not. There is no Game-mechanic, no Honor-Meter and you are not Lawful Good because your Char is a Paladin.
However with EVE growing the Game got a Mob-like-attitude. Pirates were no longer hunting for Ransom but mostly for Killmails. The almighty Killboard became everything, that and the short lived fun to have someone annoyed.
There are still People who deal honourable. Also Honour can take up many forms. Industrialists and Traders who never Scam or PvPler who keep word if they took a Ransom or do not do Suicide Ganks.
Those People are still around, but prefer to keep a low-profile, while the the Ones, who are mostly active in CAOD and Crime a. Punishment, are the Ones who should never be trusted.

Some ideals are better approached than attained. Honor is one of them simply because you may hold it to yourself, but you can never expect others to do so. The only reason why it was more viable in the "old days" was because societies were smaller then. The smaller the group, the less point there is of screwing over your neighbor. But as you can see, the motive there isn't honor itself. It is self-preservation, the governing rule of living things.
In short, honor is a concept that is never practiced. The only way you are honorable is if you act for honor's sake. When you do something nice, do you do it because it makes you feel better or because it's just the right thing to do? I bet because it makes you feel better. Hence, honor is never practiced. If you don't get what I'm saying,

What is dishonourable about scamming or suicide ganking?
I am fascinated.

People who do things in this game 'because they can' need to look up, read, and really understand the Prisoner's Dilemma.
In short, by doing it, you're creating the environment in which it's the norm to do it.

Where the hell did you get the idea that 'honor' meant 'you can't shoot me'?
They probably had lots of honor; that towards their fellow corp mates, that towards their alliance, that towards their friends and allies.
You however, are prey. Not enemy, cause you are not even close to worthy of been seens as such.

It is more common out of game then in game. MMOs and other online games have a long history of bringing out the sociopath in people - a trend I find personally disgusting but there you are.
Even so - it's vanishingly rare in the real world where there are consequences. Still, there are a few in both venues. But only a few.
Sorry for your loss. Probably best to simply expect such behaviour next time though.
