listen im new here and i really am not impressed with the ammount of down time this game has , and i wanna know how we are gonna be compensated for this ?
I paid for 1 year of game time , not 1 year minus how ever long it takes for your to drink coffee and eat cookies or whatever you are doing , a reply without stupid suggestions would be nice , i believe we all deserve a day xtra per day that you are down

You actually paid for one year including an hours downtime each day. Did you read the EULA and any other small print you could find? No?
If you are not happy, go and play World of Walkcraft.

Actually, you didn't pay for 1 year, you paid for 360 days, that's 5 days less than a full year. Also, you paid for maintenance and upgrades (and downtimes are a part of that).

No you didn't. You're whining and crying about a rare form of downtime. Crying about EvEs downtime is a lot like the WoWbabies crying about Tuesdays downtime. It's pathetic and garners no sympathy. ___________________________________

So...1 hour per day is too much? Right now just happens to be a pretty major patch going in, and it took what, not even a whole day to go in?
If you are whining about the amount of money "wasted" during downtime, maybe you need to be more conservative with your money to begin with if it is in that short of a supply.

this isnt about money , its about competence , if we are told the servers will be up , at 15 diff times throughout the day , that is simple incompetence and i just want the servers up due to the fact this is not the scheduled time , and its rediculas as im not the only one not happy about this , we all only want what we paid for

Part of what we pay is for them to keep the game running, make needed changes, update things so they work better. CCP has been doing a good job of all the above for 6 years now. I had rather them push back DT 1000 times in a day than go ahead and open the servers while they are broken.
Give them time to get it done, get it done right, and then you will have your fun.
Trust me...they arent happy about downtime being extended either...it keeps them away from the bars.

I've nowhere seen CCP state the servers would be up at 12GMT, they expected so but clearly something went wrong and posted new expected uptimes... --

The 12 hour DT would only be accepted if a expansion or a MAJOR patch would be applied. Which now, is not the case. So yes, I am curious how CCP will explain this and really don't give a **** about their excuses (pretty tired of them 'cuz almost every patch has been deloyed WASN'T completed in the stated time schedule.) I do agree daily 1hour DT's as stated in EULA (I don't care if it's less JUST don't make it longer as you tend to do)... sick of it.
BTW Don't give me "play WoW" and **** - as long as I pay I expect a fair deal of respect along.

Name 1 MMO that completes downtime on patchday when they say. And you and the OP need to just stop. If this is a troll then poor form and if you are serious then please by all mean call you CC company and get your 50 cent credit for your days downtime. They have communicated whats going on and by all means if you 2 can do it better then fly to Iceland and put in a resume otherwise deal with it like everyone else.

Edited by: Kinjanglou on 20/08/2009 15:45:02 ok i called my resident better buisness bureau , and a complaint is filed , i sent an email to CPP with no response for over 3 hours , i think its about time for a class action lawsuit here , i think we will just have to put all the down time from today togeather in 1 group and sue for the total of , umm what was it 500K accounts , by 5 hours , that should be quite a little chunk of change
PS bring the damn servers up , so i can stop posting in this stupid forum please jesus hurry up

Lets say a month has 30 days...times 24 hours is 720 hours in a month. Lets round up and say its $16 per month to play...lets see...that comes to $.02 cents per hour per account. So...this downtime cost you waht...a quarter at most?
Send them a letter to explain your greivances, and when you go to place the stamp on the envelope you will see the futility of being irritated over such small amounts of money.
They are working on it. You will get your Eve back. In the mean time, read the forums, learn a thing or two about the game in the guides and stickies, work on some ship fittings in EFT.

No im not a troll. Im someone with a lot of experience in downtime situations and whilst I accept and agree with the downtime, the way that the time for re-enabling EVE has constatly moved speaks of incompetence.

Another thing to keep under perspective here... World of Walkcraft makes you pay for their expansions, this is not the case with EvE.
I don't mind the downtime ;) I'll tractor a stargate into a star and blow up the solar system. Take me to the Azgard. |

I was about saying go read the patch notes instead "being sure" out of the blue, but maybe as a new player you won't quite understand most of the it. That's why you should ask - kindly and in a nice way.
You'll likely benefit from different sized ship modifications since you now could enhance your frigates or destroyers with small ones.

I don't know any other MMO's cause I'm playing eve since 2005 (and it did a great job keeping me away of other competitors). I don't even want to think about camparing eve with any other MMO. Why? Because I don't pay to play another MMO I PAY to play eve. About the 50 cents, yeah I would like them back. We live in a world where you pay for what you get, and today, eve, isn't giving!

i just want the game back , all my laundry is clean now , and i dont wanna do something else , cause then i might decide that calling the 1 year account a loss and walking away before i buy 2 more , cause ive seen very little to the contrary yet , this game of all other MMOs ive seen , has the highest learning curve , which i thrive in , but this forcing people to play with others , well thats just not me

This is a patch. It's a major upgrade to the game. If this were any other MMO, you'd have to pay $49.95 just to get access to the new content, above and beyond the monthly subscription. Be thankful.

Over-react much?
It's a patch, they cause downtime, deal with it.
This isn't unique to EVE. Every major software product that has ever had a patch has caused downtime. I don't care if it's just installing the new Windows updates or rolling out a whole new server farm - patches involve downtime.
EverQuest, Dark Age of Camelot, World of Warcraft... Every MMOG out there suffers from downtime when a new patch or expansion is rolled out.
World of Warcraft, especially, is known for patch-related nightmares. The joke is always that while the servers may be up at XX o'clock, you won't actually be able to play the game until the next day. I don't know how many raids I had canceled due to patch-related bugginess/issues/downtime/whatever.
It comes with the territory. It doesn't matter what game you play, it doesn't matter how many months you've paid for, it doesn't matter how much you want to play - you're going to get downtime.

Edited by: Kinjanglou on 20/08/2009 16:07:13 you know very well that if they charged for this , they would have no subscribers , because there are already too many things that deter new players from this game , so why dont you think a little more broadly
PS , i realize that *****ing like this here does no good , but it keeps me occupied till game is up :P , the funny thing is the people trying to convince a crazy person not to act like this , thats the funny part :)
