I wouldn't like to move back to empire as agent runner.
We will be placing two batches of storyline agents. One, a generic storyline agent batch, will according to plan ensure that there is at least one storyline agent per constellation that any agent is in. These should always be available to you, no matter where you are agent-running.
The other batch will be on a per-mission basis. F.ex. a mission may have a storyline that involves Khanid Kingdom blurb. Such a mission should thus take place in or in the vicinity of Khanid space, and will thus be placed on storyline agents specifically located in Khanid space. These missions will only be available to you if you are agent running f.ex. within 20 jumps of the storyline agent in question. (Otherwise there will be endless whining on the forums about "I got a storyline mission that makes me have to jump to hell and back!"). These missions may-or-may-not be available to you if you already are in "hell", as Zrakor and the dudes may-or-may-not place storyline missions in such an area.
This will not neccessarily reduce your chance to get a mission in a dungeon in the long run, as the long term intention (but still before the next major project "Kali" starts) is that almost all agent missions involve dungeons. You may experience less dungeon content initially however.

There's a chance that you'll be able to "hire" an NPC agent and install them into your POS - but this will be post-Shiva.
Can't wait, would like to do something with my 9.99996 corp rating.
Ahem, I said "hey, that's cool and _could_ be implemented." not "hey, that's cool and _will_ be implemented"...

My bad. Wasn't trying to mischaracterize ya.
But I hope it'll at least be "considered" as a feature pre-Kali.

Like this idea a lot. What i was wondering is what will happen regarding LPs when for ex. your regular Agent Mr.Smith refers you to Mr.Story for your important missions, will you get LPs with Mr.Smith or with Mr.Story?
Also would i be right in thinking that the special agents will be in space themselves in ships, "roaming" or will they be instanced also? -------------------------------------------- [2005.02.08 13:58:16] Your Mega Beam Laser II perfectly strikes Sansha's Beast, wrecking for 709.6 damage.

You will get no LPs for the storyline agent missions.
The storyline agents will actually be located on stations. "Agents In Space", when implemented, will undoubtedly also use an agent that is located at some station although you can communicate with him in space and he/she will deal with you if he/she is physically located as an NPC in your vicinity. Probably Kali btw.

In CSM's and other hints from developers, it was indicated that the Shiva mission system would encourage and support a more team-oriented environment. From what I've heard from Shiva testing (I haven't tried myself), the missions sound harder, and help might be needed by most players to do at least some of these lvl 4 missions. But I don't hear how teamwork is supported other than the same gang structure we've always had.
Is any system planned (either for ordinary missions or installation/dungeon missions) to put any structure into the gangs that one puts together to do missions?
I'm thinking about things like: - Accept a mission as a team. Agent reward, bonus, and standings increases could then be split among that team automatically. An ordinary gang splits bounties only, which means that one person gets standings benefits, and can manually pay team members from rewards. Another benefit could be that the agent knows it's creating a mission for a team vs a single player, and could provide more challenging missions. If teams are not needed for the majority of missions, and if standings gains are not divided among the whole team, then mission runners are better off continuing with the solo approach until they need a team for an especially nasty mission.
- Restrict that mission team to have players with some minimal standing. It doesn't make much sense from an RP view that player X who has horrible standing with a corporation is encouraged by the system to help player Y on his/her missions. Restrictions only seem plausible to me for the dungeon missions. Nothing to prevent any player from reaching the normal mission spawn points otherwise.

No, nothing is currently planned to make the system support teamwork. Ideas for this exist, but they haven't been getting any priority atm.

Sorry for crossposting but I thought this might be useful to add to the conversation in this thread:
Would it be possible to add a "Storyline" agent that accepts "Slaves"...like an "underground railroad" type agent in Amarr space.
Thanks.

Basically it would be a Trade missions that asks for "Slaves".

The guy in there talks about a bug with missions that you may want to be aware of.

In beta, or until Castor, I never bothered with mission. Now, missions are my main source of ISK :).
I had a look at Singularity and missions - all I can say is Great Job! I love the new interface and the new journal. I hope you will keep up the great work you are doing :).

One Question about the change form Important to storyline missions.
Important missions give a modification of the faction standing to the other factions depending on standing of the faction your corp belongs to.
Will those new storlyine agents have the same effect or won't there be any faction-standing changes anymore or will every mission change the faction standing a little bit?
