An incredibly tiny bit of research later, and I found that most extradition treaties (especially those between the US and European countries) require "double criminality": the notion that to extradite someone, the act must be criminal in both countries. As hate speech is generally protected under the US first amendment, this means that if I (in the US) call you all sorts of racial slurs, and you press charges in the UK (where the servers are based), the US would refuse to extradite me. Or wherever you press charges. Not that any speech is protected of course; there is a line that can be crossed, and then the US would happily toss me out. There is actual case law baking this up, see this article for some minor insight: http://www.splcenter.org/intel/intelreport/article.jsp?aid=193 although I'm sure there are better sources. So actually, CCP (more accurately, Iceland or the UK) does have to care about the US's 1st amendment: if I'm in the US, it does effect their ability to get me extradited. So, CCP can ban me from the game for using such hate language, but they can't get me imprisoned overseas for it. Haha, I love the first amendment.

It's ironic really, they don't care when racism or sensitive issues come up but they complain when the price of milk goes up
