Preface:
Okay so I'll be honest; I was deliberating hardcore about whether or not to post this. But, seeing that just about wherever I go nowadays I hear "why don't you come bring a 5 billion t3 cruiser" or some bs, it seems my reputation precedes me.
So, here is my Ashimmu fit. It is not quite finished, but I am looking to polish it. I have two fits; one for gang and one for solo. The fits are interchangeable.
This ship has poor grid... which is unfortunate. It is in need of a rebalance to offer it at least 200 more grid and perhaps 30 more CPU. Additionally, I don't believe it *NEEDS* a drone bay, but a 15m3 drone bay would increase this ship's soloing ability considerably. With the poor grid in mind, and the cost of the ship in mind as well, Heavy Lasers are probably out of the question if you want to fit a respectable tank to the slowest cruiser in the game, and still be able to microwarpdrive around with energy in your capacitor.
That said, I AM LOOKING FOR ADVICE FOR THIS SHIP.
With a set of LG-slaves - which an anonymous benefactor bestowed upon me for only 300 mil ♥ - here are my two fits.

So it's a thread about yet another stupidly expensive ship you're going to soon lose to some noobs in most amusing way? You could at least pick some worthwhile hull instead, maybe phantasm _____________ I don't care what is nerfed, as long as it's not my "undock" button. |

Ashimmu needs a lot reballancing, slot layout, fitting, dronebay. The only things that are good atm are the bonuses(that it realy can¦t use because of the bad slot layout and fitting) and the look of it.
Also the fittings do nothing a curse couldn¦t do a lot cheaper and probably better overall.

Your solo build intrigues me but alas I only get just under 85k EHP with my EFT (mine might be out of date again) although its still a rather nice buffer. It "should" be good at hitting frigates, cruisers, ratting ravens ect but I'm just not all that convinced with it. Still its the only fit I have seen for it that makes it able to fight something.

I have low-grade slaves installed as I said at the top of my post.
Also, I just re-checked the numbers, apparently I had fleet bonuses checked. So that reduces 10% armor HP.
So the solo fit actually has:
109k EHP 25,800 Armor HP.
I will update the OP to reflect the change.
edit: OP changed.
Original level 5 fleet numbers are:
120k EHP if all level 5 fleet bonus i.e, alt) 28,380 with level 5 fleet bonus i.e, alt)

I'm digging that second fit so far, though my figures differ from yours somewhat seeing as I have maxed armour gang skills and mindlink and refuse to fly without at least a noob alt in a gang so as to recieve bonuses. With that in mind, I get 125k EHP, 90 dps and a bit less speed.
Overall, though, seems like a great anti-support ship for murdering friggies - if a little expensive. But hey, the milkshake brings all the boys, etc - knowing how everyone likes to kill faction ships, and you specifically, you won't be short of targets.
The HPL fit simply sucks. It's terrible in almost every way, lacking tank and dps.
I've been thinking of getting an Asshimu for a while now.. maybe I'll be flying this as bait in FW gangs in future
Edit: why don't you come bring a 5 billion t3 cruiser?

Also, in regards to the solo fit I checked some math.
I want to fit a Corpii A-Type Small Armor Repairer, but the EHP bonus it delivers is only 44.2 per second. That means it would take 542 seconds to make up the difference of having an additional Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane fitted instead, but for soloing I believe that MAY be the way to go if I am picky about targets, especially capless targets such as Ravens who can keep firing at me after I deplete their cap.
Ah. I knew the implants helped but I just couldnt figure out where the rest was comming from
I have been wanting a special ship for a while now but given the cost and abilities I just see the phantasm as a more worthwhile buy for me even though I dont get as much of a tank. It is tempting though so I will be keeping an eye on what happens with yours

Also what are you going to be killing with 94dps? Your enemy will be the passive tank drake and he will make you cry.
On any other ship even with the neuts in the time it will take you to nibble someone down they could of probably called back up which will come fast as ovbiously everyone wants to kill the Ashimmu and lets be honest you aren't renowned for cheaply fitting your ships.
(Also in before merin)
What on earth makes you think that if after I say "I am going to be selective in picking my targets" that I am going to engage the ONE ship that you know without a doubt could tank the 94 DPS?
I'm not going to shoot at Drakes solo, but in my fleet of pirate ships, we very well will. And we'll take him >:3

Either blob up so whatever primaries the fancy faction ship gets the crap ganked out of it (which seems to be your plan anyways) or fight things that.
1. Don't have drones 2. Don't have cap injectors 3. Don't have capless weaponry

LOL the ashimmu doesnt even have good bonuses. Webs operate at 10-13 km depending on overheat. It gets a web RANGE bonus. Medium nuets operate at 12km. It gets a nuet STRENGTH bonus. ****ing stupid. They both start at about the same range. They should both be either a range bonus or a strength bonus.
And while large lasors might be overpowered in issues of range and dps, medium lasors are not. A medium lasor cap use bonus without a damage bonus screams 'Put autocannons on me so you can use the cap for something else!' Something that shares qualities with the maller should not be developed into a 200mil isk ship.
(The sacraledge fixes all maller problems. Missiles w/ bonus instead of one cap usage medium lasor bonus. Drone bay. Mids. Its effectively an entirely different ship that happens to use the same model.)

Well, Siigari sets want to buy contracts like this: Megathron Navy issue: 500 Isk (tops).
She doesn't even bother baiting with 500 thousand Isk.
If she got the Ashimmu the same way, it's all profit, you see.

Hey Siig. Was fun fighting you and Lenny last night and from that encounter I can definitely say that your biggest issue is DPS. I would probably drop a little bit of tank and a neut or two in order to jam on more guns and a damage mod or two because otherwise you simply don't have the firepower to kill a majority of targets you run into. It also kind of sucks that a ship with web bonuses only gets 3 mids.. would be great if they revamped that thing and gave it at least 4 mids to ensure you can a web or two AND a scram into your fits but I won't hold my breath on CCP changing it any time soon. ----- The Python Cartel - My Pirate Blog |

Ah yes, more proof that you can't buy PvP skill with GTCs...
As for the ship, it's awful. Your setups have hilariously pathetic dps, pathetic neuting ability, and thanks to the pathetic speed, your "amazing" tank is pretty underwhelming. Meanwhile you've dumped an absolutely staggering amount of money into one of the worst ships in the game, resulting in a ship that's pretty much worse in every way than a Pilgrim or Curse, but for many times the price tag.
So yeah, feel free to bring this abomination to my Curse, I would love a bunch of free faction loot. ==========

Yeah man, it was a good fight.
Truth be told, while the DPS is abysmal, we were missing a few ships.
We've got a faction lineup, and right now people are training skills for the ships so we all have maxed out skills. I'm also training up minmatar cruiser 5 because I like the minmatar pirate ships.
We're gonna have:
Scorch Phantasm (wooo) HAM Gila w/ ECM ;3 (30km w/mwd!) Gank Vigilant w/ shield buffer Tackling Worm Interceptor catching Daredevil My bait Ashimmu, OR Tackling Cynabal (Lenny) MWDving Succubus for anti-drone support
and more.
That's just a taste. We've got some interesting stuff up our sleeves, so I look forward to seeing how the pirate ships do in a fleet.
Good fight o/ We'll see each other again :3

Allow me to save you the trouble of GTCing all those ships just to find out how most of them suck:
Quote: Scorch Phantasm (wooo)
Awesome, and the only truly good ship on that list. Excellent dps, excellent range, a solid buffer, and pretty good speed, the only disadvantage is how much ISK you lose when it gets primaried. But I suppose you have plenty of GTCs to cover that little drawback...
Quote: HAM Gila w/ ECM ;3 (30km w/mwd!)
Worthless. DPS is poor, and un-bonused ECM has terrible jam chances. The Phantasm just dominates it, or if you absolutely must have missiles, a Cerberus (or Navy Caracal if it has to be faction) will out-perform it in every possible way.
Quote: Gank Vigilant w/ shield buffer
Mediocre. It's not that it's a terrible ship, but the Phantasm is just better. The Vigilant gains only slightly better dps, but at such terrible range that the Phantasm will take the top spot on the killmails. The only real advantage here is the ECM drones, and if that's what you want, just bring a Falcon.
Quote: Tackling Worm
Worthless. A Harpy completely outclasses it, and even a (*shudders*) Hawk is better in every possible way.
Quote: Interceptor catching Daredevil
Worthless. An interceptor of your own or a Harpy/Ishkur/Jaguar are better in every possible way.
Quote: My bait Ashimmu, OR
As mentioned before, a hilarious waste of ISK that only someone like you could possibly think is even remotely a good idea.
Quote: Tackling Cynabal (Lenny)
See "Vigilant" above, except the Cynabal is probably even worse.
Quote: MWDving Succubus for anti-drone support
Worthless, because the role you are talking about does not exist. Killing drones in a gang fight is a waste of time, and bringing a specialized ship to do it is just painfully stupid. Just bring another Phantasm and kill the drones' controlling ship even faster. ==========

Yeah, but the active tank thing doesn't really work on it. Did the math; it'd take 582 seconds to make up the EHP of a DB EANM with a small A-Type rep.
So yeah; dunno. Still working on ideas. Do you think an active/buffer tank is a more plausible fit?

What, no Thukker extenders? No DG Invuln? DG Invuln is almost even worth it. I understand why no Thukkers - they only exist in EFT and the unused Thukker LP store.

CDFE all the way, unless you want to fit a Energy Turret Locus rig to take advantage of the extra range of the TS Warp Disruptor. Phantasm is a bit too heavy and slow to nano effectively.

He ran out of grid.
Yeah, also about some of your faction comments:
save 7% cap by fitting a c-type MWD.
TS Neuts are readily available; Dark Blood are a rarity. *cries* Also, I didn't EFT warrior those onto my fit; if someone tries to tackle our Phantasm pilot he's going to need some sort of defense against it. The best thing I could fit that had any use left (salvager, anyone?) were two neuts with the best range I could muster. And, at only 20 mil a pop that's reasonable to have some form of anti-frig.
My corpmate said he didn't want to pay for a DG Invul; and to be honest with this fit I wouldn't either. 300 mil for an mere 3000 EHP on shields doesn't seem reasonable :| If it was 100 mil I'd jump on it and insist he fit it but sadly, shield pimping is very restrictive.
True, Electrochem is sufficient, but fit Sanshas on your Sanshas cruiser :D
Anyway, let's examine the rigs.
This ship is a pain to rig :\ 350 cal means you have to be picky about the rigs and I can't manage to get *awesome* shields out of it without sacrificing something else. Though, please offer more assistance.
With the grid being as tight as it is, how would you fit it?

Even with a standard T1 MWD, a standard T1 booster with 400's supplies all the cap you'll need.

You're right. I had the TS confused with DB.
Quote: With the grid being as tight as it is, how would you fit it?
Grids not all that tight for me. 3 CDFE or 2 CDFE and a Locus rig if I have a TS disruptor. But really, 3 CDFE. Perhaps your deadspace MWD is causing fitting problems I don't have with mine.
I also note that the Ashimmu is so ****ty, your thread has turned into a Phantasm thread.

Similar, but worse.
PS: unlike mine, your setup doesn't even fit (well, without giving up your snake set to use a grid implant).
Quote: save 7% cap by fitting a c-type MWD.
And once again you demonstrate that you have more GTC money than PvP knowledge. The Phantasm has terrible cap, almost your entire cap supply is coming from the cap booster, which means that your 7% increase makes essentially zero difference. The only thing it accomplishes is making your ship more expensive to lose.

I wouldn't say they're readily available, obviously they're good, but I left them off the setup because the last time I built a Phantasm, I spent weeks looking for them on contracts without finding even a single faction small neut of for sale.

But yet he's willing to pay a ton of ISK for a faction MWD that makes zero difference? A faction invuln on a Phantasm makes far more sense than many of your module choices...
Quote: True, Electrochem is sufficient, but fit Sanshas on your Sanshas cruiser :D
IOW, throw away ISK for no good reason. It's hilarious how once again, you're willing to spend vast amounts of ISK where it doesn't matter, but too cheap to buy a faction invuln that makes a big difference.

So let's continue discussing the Ashimmu.
Anyway, as said previously it's got a great little buffer tank for a cruiser-sized ship (120k EHP with reasonable fittings/implants).
I'm personally not willing to throw an extra 450 mil and 3 c-type eanms, so I wouldn't expect my corpmate to throw 300 mil at a DG invul. The c-types barely boost the resistance; which is the problem. Honestly, I'd be better off fitting a-type adaptives for cheaper. Then perhaps I'd tell him to fit a DG invul; bleh I dunno.
I'm not going to tell him to spend 300 mil on a mod when I won't.

And since it has such laughable offense and terrible speed, all that "tank" means is that you get ignored until last, and then once you're primaried, you take 100% damage from everything and sit helplessly while you quickly die.
I can't even decide which is more hilarious, that you actually think you can solo with that comedy fit, or that you wasted low slots on a heat sink on a ship with four frigate guns as its only offense.
PS: you don't even tank well. A Cynabal, even comedy fit like yours, gets only ~100 less EHP, but over twice as much dps and much better speed to reduce incoming dps:

The point is that your idiot corp-mate is throwing absurd amounts of money on items that are absolutely no help to a Phantasm (MWD, cap booster, terrible T2 rigs) instead of investing that money in modules that can actually be a considerable improvement (upgrading the warp disruptor to 30km, faction invuln). ==========

Except for the whole idiot comment, I think this is the first thing I've ever read coming out of your mouth that makes sense.
Sounds reasonable. Just not goin 30km on a warp disruptor when optimal is < 30km and we already have a dedicated tackler.

It's still more useful than any of the other faction junk, for two reasons:
1) You need more than one tackler. If you're going to spend absurd amounts of money on faction fitting even ships as bad as the Ashimmu, you can't have too many 30km points in the gang. For example, it is a huge benefit against multiple targets, allowing you to keep more of them tackled when their FC calls a retreat.
2) To effectively use the Phantasm's full optimal, you have to have a 30km point. The Phantasm's agility isn't all that great, which means you are going to have trouble holding a perfect orbit, and many ships can take advantage of your lower agility to break out of point range temporarily and escape. The 30km point allows you a much greater buffer against losing point when operating at the full range of the Phantasm's lasers.
This is not just from EFT numbers, this is from experience actually flying the ship with and without a 30km point. ==========

Here's a hint: sell the faction junk from the Ashimmu and replace it with T2, the ship will still suck but at least it will be cheap. You should now have enough money to buy 30km points (and other useful modules) for the good ships in your gang. ==========
