Well... one thing that I can say is that the new IGB IS AWESOME!!!! It's super fast...and from what I've seen, the browser itself, stable. There is a problem though... when you have the browser active, and alt-tab and then want to come back in the game again...you can't....your client freezes and nothing happens....
just letting everyone know :P

It's a known issue! Coincidentally they can be located here along with more information about developing for the browser!

Edited by: Blazde on 17/09/2009 01:22:03 I was halfway through posting to say how totally awesome it was to be posting in the IGB, but then it all went grey when I scrolled down a bit Then I clicked View Source and the wbrowser.exe process died (with a NULL pointer dereference) - it happened twice now. But! EVE successfully carried on like nothing happened \o/
Other issues I notice immediately that aren't listed here :
- The clipboard doesn't seem to work at all (pasting into forms / copying from them). This is something that'd still be a deal breaker for me using the IGB for everyday EVE stuff, and I'd really love to avoid the endless alt-tabbing. - I couldn't make new lines when typing into a textarea. Space key performed a little odd too I thinks it's just visual.

As you might have noticed, the browser works in a different process, so if it crashes, then EVE stays alive. Just restart the browser and you should be fine.
I'll get forward the copy/paste and text issues.

What other limitations or capabilities does the new IGB support?
Cookies? Session Management? Javascript DOM differences? SVG or VML?
etc...
Would there be anyway to get anything comparable to FireBug available? ------------------------------------------------- Search: Sky Grunthor |

Are both of you on XP? We've seen the texture rendering freak out during resize and move events (fifth on the Known Issues list), but it seems to only be reproducible on XP. My Vista machine resizes just fine.

- Anything javascript or rendering related should be fine, as we are using Chromium in our backend. If Chrome's rendering engine can do it, so can we :) Note, however, we're using an older build of WebKit at the moment, with an upgrade planned for this sprint, so some problems (like EVElopedia rendering) should be resolved by that upgrade.
- You should find sessions working just fine, for example if you log into GMail or Facebook.
- Cookies are in our backlog, but currently not prioritized for any Dominion sprints. Possibly in a maintenance release.
- Integrating a web dev tool like Firebug in the game would be very unlikely, but we want to be as helpful to IGB developers as possible. If you find yourself needing some specific ability for developing an IGB page, certainly feel free to raise that as an issue.

From the very quick look i did, session and ajax works well as does basic dom suff, havent tested any advanced pages yet. Also not sure about cookies. On top of that i have noticed that theres no javascript alert or input boxes, so if you use these youll need to code your own (not overly hard)
I would like to know though, cache, is it IE, Firefox, other or none? Is there a way to clear it if there is any, as well as url history
I did have a small test page that worked with the ingame stuff just to show my current solarsystem, this didnt work, i added the page to trusted and still nothing, is there any list of the changes to the ingame features for the trusted pages.

- There is some caching going on in-memory, currently we're not writing any kind of cache to disk, although that is planned for the future. Obviously this just gets cleared anytime the browser process restarts (either restart the client, or kill wbrowser.exe from task manager and open a browser window up in-game).
- We're hoping to put in support for javascript alerts this sprint, once we've completed the Chromium upgrade.
- As far as the trusted-site thing, this functionality should be working. Are you not seeing any of the trusted site headers once you've trusted the site? Are you going into Options->Trusted Sites and adding the URL to your site? The checkbox in the lower right is not meant to be interactive, it's just a temporary UI thing to indicate trust until we get something that looks better. To get an example of the headers that should be getting sent by the client, you can trust http://www.whatsmyuseragent.com and navigate there, that will give you a full list of the headers sent by your browser.

Huh, interesting. I'm not sure if you're seeing the same issue then. We are planning on having a fix to the XP move/resize problem soon, and I'll make sure we get some Windows 7 machines to test on once that's complete. Thanks!

Not heard of these before and I can't reproduce this personally. Could you file a bugreport (info on how to do that here) including website(s) which give these issues, which OS you are running, etc.

I'll be a bit more concise - When scrolling and moving my mouse over the browser, it seems to consistently flicker between the current frame and the last frame the browser was showing. Also happens when typing and clicking.
Thats the best i can describe it at the moment. _____________________________________ Haruhiist since December 2008

Ah yes, we're aware of this issue. I was hoping to get it fixed prior to this first SiSi release but that didn't prove possible. I'll have the Known Issues list updated with a workaround soon.
(Hint: delete that debug.log file )
