I tried out the browser with a few select sites (nothing lewd!) and it works marvellously, was a bit eerie to not have to wait for ages but I'll get over it
PS: As there are concerns about security a disable option should be implemented. Hell, I don't trust any site these days and have script blockers running to avoid the embedded code that seems to find its way onto otherwise harmless sites.

The browser is going to be used for far more than just the actual IGB, remember its also integrated with what billboards and the like are going to be able to display.
Turning off the browser won't be possible. I would suggest upgrading your OS ------------------------------------------------- Search: Sky Grunthor |

Random thought:
Given that Moondoggie, while integrated into Eve, is relatively independant, is there any chance of seperating patches for the IGB from the main Eve Client?
That way you could throw in security/chromium SDK/feature/bugfix patches for the IGB independant of the main Eve patching cycle.

SVG works. Links in SVG work. Some style definitions (CSS) for SVG don't seem to render properly though, but I don't think that's a biggie.
Excellent to be able to see some decent content in the igb. Good work CCP.

I would wish a couple of items into consideration: - in addition to the CORP and ALLIANCE, please don't forget MILITIA in the headers, please - a javascript call to get the distance of a system from your current location (like on Assests window now)
Otherwise looking forward for new developments!

First off can I say that it is great to see an update to the IGB :)
But am I to understand that links to systems/stations will no longer work as in you can not right click them and set destination. For the few web applications that I have written this will be a great loss. I understand that you can create a link (button?) to show route, but it would be nice just to be able to set destination with one click.

Tryiung this out... I must say I'm going to be so happy that I can send people links to music on imeem.com and not have them manually open an external browser, imeem.com still doesn't render corectly in the IGB, but all the music and playlists work fine.
BTW - to developers - if you absolutely need cookie support it appears that the flash player is storing its cookies correctly, so you could embed a flash widget in pages to store cookie information and have that pass the information back to your sever whenever it's rendered.

So... I guess this means the known issue page is out of date because the flash player on imeem is working just fine. In fact it works so well that when you close the IGB it keeps playing, and now there's no way to access it to tell it to stop. I bring up the IGB and the page is gone, but John Peel is still playing. I kill the Eve client and still he plays on for a good 10 minutes (possibly dependent on how much the player had buffered up).
If only the real John Peel had been so resistant to death.

Further to my earlier post, will it be possible to show info on agents and stations? At the moment it only appears to be possible to show info on items?

It would be awesome if it where possible to browse my own PC and watch movies from my hd via the browser.
Like when I type "d:/series/blabla/season 1/" in firefox, I get a listing of the files there and can actually play them. _________________

I'd prefer that kind of support was kept out, local filesystem access has been at the root of a whole lot of bad browser security flaws.

http://www.slacker.com/ interface gets kind of mangled. For example the album art and the station artists list do not get displayed.
As a feature suggestion, the IGB really needs some king of ad blocker. ...

Hm, the rendering still seems to be very unstable and buggy. Even on the ingame news page mouse-overing over the top link bar or the scrollbar produces flickering and strange behavior. Surfing some major news portal like cnn.com is much worse. Tested on 105130.

I'm just wondering why flash will be disabled on tq?
If the sole reason is the smaller footprint for increased security... having it enabled on sisi would be just as bad because of the same reasons. Well lesser so obviously... but... Go on sisi, open up in browser a web page that have some nice flash on it and right click on the flash object... see what happens Another reason would be the cpu usage given the fact that complex flash sites tends to use lots of cpu... I guess we don't want that while playing EVE. Yet another reason, as you suggested, is the security side, flash isn't bugs free (probably will never be, as any software around), eliminating from start any extensions, the browser will probably be stable and usable enough as it is (html/javascript/rendering core)
Let's face it, we dont need a true browser with all the whistles and bells, we only need an ACID 3 compliant (at least) browser that is very fast and accurate when rendering decent web pages. Chromium project provides that. As a side note, 2 months ago I was wondering why isn't CCP looking at chromium engine as a possible replacement candidate for the current IGB, well, here we are, it happened.
Currently, the implementation of the new IG browser sux big time (if I'm totally right). It looks like a windowless control that have nothing to do with the EVE 3D engine. And that is baaad. The way I see it:
[offscreen html renderer(chromium)] -> [EVE 3D engine surface display] -> [mouse/keyboard interaction provided by EVE game] ---| |-----------------------<<<-----------------------------------<<<---------------------------<<<---------------------------------

I have the same problem and bug reported it. It got attached to an issue so they are aware of it. It's obviously something that only happens to a few people, so they might have a hard time tracking it down. If you could send them a bug report about it with your system specs it would probably help.

Originally by: CCP Ronin We are also very open to suggestions for methods IGB-site authors would like to have access to, so if you're dying to interact with the game in a certain manner, please let us know!
If you could allow us to link directly to contracts and/or pull information from specific contracts so that one could build a fully functional web-store-front via the contract system. This would be great!!!!!
I know that there has been a suggestion that CCP add store fronts to the game. I think this would be a grate idea for regional sales via the In Game market; however, with the addition of pulling and/or pushing contract info in and out of game. We could create storefronts ourselves and have the ability to sale items in game globaly!
Thanks, Zen

Linking to a contract (you need to specify the contract ID) has been added to the list of supported IGB methods by CCP Nimbus today. |

This is how the right-click menu of a showinfo: link with a character ID currently looks like (Apocrypha IGB):

Does this still work with Moondoggie? If not, will there be JavaScript methods that replace the menu items?
I think this is quite useful to have in web applications, especially "Send Message", "Give Money" and "Set Standings".

The ShowFitting() method is obviously using the Ship DNA format for the fitting id. What are the gotcha's? I've put some questions in the Talk section of that page in the wiki.

In a bit of a hurry, so haven't had a chance to read the whole thread yet so this might have already been mentioned -- any possibility of defaulting to transparent background on the page like the old IGB if a background color isn't specified? It's nice to be able to see behind the window while you're in space. :) As it stands now, if you don't specify a background color for the page, moondoggie defaults to white.

Edited by: Twistalous on 07/10/2009 04:21:18 Also, it appears links to fleets no longer work?!? Is there a javascript function that allows this? Otherwise, my whole app is dead in the water, completely.
Ideally, it would be great to have a "join fleet" and "leave fleet" javascript function.

I don't believe it does.
Something that they have to contend with is that this is a 3rd party browser. This means there are some limitations in the way they will be able to interact with it while still maintaining the ability to update it as chrome gets updated. The only true hooks they have into it (or at least the only ones they are using) are DOM hooks.
This means that all interaction happens via the "Client" object or within header information.
I would think we could suggest a "Client.ShowContextMenu(anyID, x, y)" that would pop up the context menu associated with the given anyID at the x and y position within the area of the IGB window. This kind of thing would be inline with their approach to the new igb.
As soon as the current wiki wishlist page is approved we should probably add that call to the list. ------------------------------------------------- Search: Sky Grunthor |

Has anyone been able to get the client side javascript extensions working yet?
I threw together a little test page at: http://www.cbampton.com/upload_dir/test.php?start=1&end=50
But even when i add http://www.cbampton.com/upload_dir/test.php to the trusted sites the buttons still don't work.
Any suggestions?

Edited by: Baron Rob on 07/10/2009 21:34:27 Hi Synex,
I had trouble using
<button type="button" onClick="Client.ShowInfo(3)">3</button>
I found the follwoing works for me
<INPUT TYPE='button' NAME='myButton' VALUE='3' onClick='Client.ShowInfo(3)'>
Not sure why the other method (the one you used) does not work as it is per example on the wiki.

Am really looking forward to Moondoggie going live.
I've just got a couple of questions though...
Firstly, I've already got an in-game site for my corporation that gets very little use simply because of the horrendous loading speed of the current IGB. Will that site continue to work in the new IGB, specifically regarding the special EVE headers. Will they remain the same? Or Will I need to tweak the site?
Secondly, Have we got a rough idea (ballpark figure, no accuracy needed) when the patch to include the new IGB will go live on Tranq?
Cheers, Raul
