Are there any more javascript client functions than Client.OpenEveMail? I'd love to see things like Client.GetCurrentSystem, Client.GetFleetID..

Are both of you on XP? We've seen the texture rendering freak out during resize and move events (fifth on the Known Issues list), but it seems to only be reproducible on XP. My Vista machine resizes just fine.
i am getting the graphical glitches (flickering back and forth between current and last page image) on windows vista. also it is not only when i type or resize.

Originally by: Gogela OK... seriously? How do you link an item in this new browser? I've been testing it out, what works in game on http://gogela.com/eve/info.php does not work in moondoggie. So how do I link an item? Seriously.
The functionality is not in yet, this will be a javascript call like the ShowMail thing, it's being worked on for this sprint. (By me, right now, actually)
As per the documentation, the updated call will look something like "javascript:Client.ShowInfo(typeID)". We want to get a head start on helping you guys update your IGB pages, so once the next SiSi client is released with this sprint's changes, it'd be great to hear back from you on how the updated client hooks are working out.
Originally by: Dragonaire First let me say thank you for finally getting this to the point we can start trying it out.
A feature request I'd like to make would be for you to add some kind of version info to the user-agent header. The eve client version would be great for this but anything would work. Would make it appear like a more normal browser in the server logs and could have some other uses as well.
Yea, that EVE-IGB thing is temporary. Our plan is to append ";EVE-IGB" onto the default Chromium user agent so that websites will know what rendering engine is being used. Should happen sometime this sprint.
----- So in regards to the flickering thing, my only experience with seeing the previous texture in place of what I'm trying to view is when I load a website, close the browser, and then reopen the browser. I briefly see the last website I was viewing before the texture is replaced by the new website. I would love to hear more info about the problem as many of you are experiencing it though, especially if it seems to be 64-bit related. Keep those bug reports coming!

There will be others coming up in the next iteration, we're looking at "Show Info", "Show Route", "Show Map" and "View Fitting", along with maybe a couple others depending on timing. We are also very open to suggestions for methods IGB-site authors would like to have access to, so if you're dying to interact with the game in a certain manner, please let us know!
However, these client hooks are meant for the browser to interact with the game in a one-way manner, usually to pop up some prepopulated UI element. Methods to get information out of the game and return them to the browser are not the intention of these methods, nor are they supported. For this type of information, the special HTTP headers should be used instead.

Edited by: Oasio on 18/09/2009 10:21:27 Is there a way to properly secure the browser ?
In other word, disabling -pictures -scripts, including javascript -video -sound -flash -out of current domain links by default, with individual exception on a per site basis ?
thanks

Really good stuff. Can use corp and EVE-O Forums in game. Reckon i could post KMs from within the game if we disabled the IGB version of our Killboard as well. Heck, even our flash portal works.
Weird thing though. if I have the fittings or ship preview window open, a black outline of the ship shows through to the IGB Page. Weird but not game-breaking/

The only th ing I've noticed so far, has been .. well, strange quirks. Like, when mousing over a link or anything like that in the IGB causes it to hop around a whole lot. Same with typing in the post box, apparantly. Causes some really awkward looking jumps of the text that is after the cursor, or just typed. Other than that, it looks pretty and seems to work okay.

There may be some kind of blacklist functionality with the Chromium upgrade, but we're still investigating exactly what kind of options we'll get out of that. So short answer, nothing in the works, strictly speaking, but it is something we're thinking about!

javascript:Client.AskForTrust() is the idea, maybe with an optional URL parameter or something, but that's not finalized (you could for example bind it to an OnLoad event). This was a request from the CSM which we added to the backlog, and we'd love to add it, but it requires investigation as to the exact complexity. It would be in a future sprint or a maintenance release depending on timing.

My new ingame browser doesnt really work at all. When I open it it show's the first page for around 5 seconds and then goes black. Same if I go into any page it shows it briefly and then goes black. However if I move my mouse over any images on the page they will appear while the rest is black.

ah yes that happened to me as well, minimizing and resizing fixed it. then I closed it and when I opened it again it seemed to work fine -_-;
(will do a proper bug report when I get home tonight, too damn tired last night, and not enough time now) You're posting again!? Has it really been 5 mins?

I tried the thing out yesterday (17th).
- Opening a bright page while the browser was over anything with a corp logo (including station office bar) caused black squares to bleed through onto the IGB over those logos.
- If you've opened the new IGB, alt-tabbing will cause the client to crash a short time later, if you can even get back to it. This happens whether the IGB is still open or not.
I'm running Vista Home Premium with Firefox as default browser. Eve is in windowed mode.

once that awsome thing is established and consolidated, can we expect more ingame related goodies for the browser ? I would love to be able to sent my ship type to a page for example ... and there are certainly other things on the wish list.

.. or listen to a live radio: http://www.vremenskapostaja.com/SAR
anyway i found a "bug". If you right click on the flash plugin browser crashes.

Two things I'd love to see: 1. Search function. But please, no popup window. 2. Please add regionID, contellationID, solarSystemID, shipTypeID and shipTypeName to headers. First three are just expansion of existing headers. IMHO providing ID (or both ID and Name) is preferable to giving just name for most developers. Current ship type will be useful, too.

While the headers are nice, they can easily be faked.
Is it possible to add a signature of some kind to the request, so that we know it is generated from a client, and the client is the same character in game as the headers say?
Alternative would be having an OpenID Provider hosted on www.eveonline.com, which could allow you to establish trust of a browser session <-> character name.

WOW CCP very nice... (Writting this via IGB :P)
SOme critiques:
Text lag (if that is what it is) could be improved its not on par with the fast pageloading of Moondoggie (not sure if that is possible?)
Browser Navigation Buttons are a bit too close together (makes it easier to miss click) - even a few more milimeters might be a improvement --- or some type of boardering/lighting(shading) to define the boundries of the buttons.
New Tab feature - now that we are all so used to having multiple tabs on a single browser to look at something it would be great to see a limited application of that on the IGB at some point if feasible
Great work -- but imo text speed would be a great great improvement to go with Moondoggie

2nd'ed!
For me personally it would have a dual purpose:
A: When having to pay out ISK to a large number of people this would be a God's send (as when I pay out the winnings from the alliance tournament betting - Last time was 300+ payouts...)
B: When running any kind of service, in it's broadest sense, (like The BIG Lottery), it would be extremely usefull for the operators to be able to include a link on the webpages, that people could simply click to give ISK (they would still have to hit the "OK" button of the "Give ISK" menu ofc). I'm sure it would entice more people to use whatever service it might be - As having to - open P&P - copy/paste a name - hit search - Potentially have to pick from a list of like names - Enter amount - Enter reason - Hit OK is quite a barrier in some cases...
We've all done it a million times, and it might not seem like a BIG Deal, but imagine, say running a news service, and asking for small/tiny donations (10K/100K whatever) - How many are going to bother with all of the above, unless they are *really* into supporting whatever service?
Now compare that to just have to hit a link on the page ("Did you like what you read? Donate 10K ISK"), and then click "OK"? I'm sure that news service would actually start recieving alot of (tiny) donations.
Please make this happen

As we all know HTTP headers can be spoofed, and are only set on page load. Rather than reloading the page regularly for the client, surely it'd be more secure and be very easy to have JS methods for getting the same information as the headers? If it's in the headers anyway it's clearly not bad for us to be able to get it from client->browser, so why not dynamically?
If I need to resort to an invisible iframe automatically refreshing regularly to get the HTTP headers I'll be very disappointed :(

Would it be possible to re-add the functionality where you could drag&drop a character (from local/p&p) to a textarea/textinput and have it show up there in some format that's parseable? The former showinfo: link format worked nicely. This allows easy copy&paste of characters to HTML forms, which is very handy. Just the character name would work, too, thanks to the API.
Also, I used to be able to drag&drop a showinfo link of some character to my address book. This was very useful to distribute lists of war targets and such. Maybe an addToAddressBook(characterid, [folder]) would be a substitute (but you NEED the folder argument, just adding it globally won't help).
Other things I'd like javascript for: - Mail window with pre-filled To, Subject, and body - "Join this channel", "join this mailing list" - "Add this overview setting", gets an URL to an overview XML - "Save this fitting", gets an URL to a fitting XML - Show a contracts search (item X, all regions, etc.) - Pop up the "set standings" dialog (for pilot/corp/alliance standings)
And some functionality I think we are losing when you switch from showinfo: links to javascript. I used to be able to get this nice in-game compatible right-click menu for type links. So, we need some functionality to mimic that.
- Show market details on some item - Set destination to some system
I'm not sure how to mimic the following options from the old IGB, as just issuing the command to the client would be very abuseable. Maybe some kind of popup?
- Dock at some station - Warp to object
