I just wanted to ask if Devs have taken under consideration the huge ( i mean it huge) additional advantage the lasers will get with tech 2 guns: all other weapons will need ammo that no longer an average joe, having not much in common with industry, can produce with some mins , the tech 2 ammo will need tech 2 components and high industrial skill.
It will be a huge obstacle for all ammo, you will ahve to transport tech2 components or ready tech2 ammo to 0.0 .
LAsers tech2 will ahve none of this problems. So not enough its currently best guns , they will get this additional bonus...
I hope the devs see it and its balanced in some way..

Edited by: belzebub1 on 09/11/2004 21:06:28 Good point m8, Maybe tech 2 lasers can be like laser deployables for POS which need a fuel to run, Thus balancing things out a little
EDIT /ME Looks around for spell checker button

I didn't know tech 2 guns require tech 2 ammo, are you sure this is the case?
If it is then yeah, this is definatly a problem.

Edited by: Earthan on 09/11/2004 21:17:25 They dont require to use, you can use tech 1 ammo i think , but tech 2 ammo will be much more powerful.
So if lasers will be balanced compared to other guns with tech2 ammo , it will mean its unbalanced due to above described problem...

as far as i know they dont require tech2 ammo they work fine with normal stuff but they will perform better with the tech2 stuff cos theyll have increased damage and things -----------------------------------
Your 250mm Railgun I perfectly strikes Blood Arch Engraver, wrecking for 430.3 damage. |

I think the devs said that tech 2 crystals would infact degrade with use. Not 100% sure tho ______________

Good point, Ertan. Maybe the tech 2 crystals will have an insane cost. The tech 1 cost about 500k now, so maybe tech 2 will be 5-10m. Dont know how that will compare to other tech 2 ammo. 100 antimatter L cost about 8000 isk, so maybe tech 2 will be 100k?

yahh i heard the same, each cristal having around 100 uses and then depleted. Not shure tho

Why will t2 crystals be any less difficult to produce then t1 crystals?
If they're not, then I don't see your point.

Ok that would be a way to balance it, lets just hope the crystals you have to transport take as much cargo as ammo for the same amount of shots....

Yeah, hell. I'm paying 200k per large crystal already, and they've been subjected to price wars for more than a year now.
I wouldn't be surprised if the cost of the t2 crystals will far surpass that of the entire t1 arsenal on a ship. I do hope they tackle the crystals like the degration of Db's, i.e. you can repair them regularly. But 100 uses is far too little, what with armageddons firing mega pulses every 3 seconds >_<

Lasers dont cost less to operate then hybrids / projectiles. Any apoc user is already carrying anywhere between 10-20mill (I havent checked prices on crystals lately) in crystals in his hold. The advantage is in transport. Yes, you can use them out in 0.0 without needing an indy to transport ammo. Which is one of the advantages that make lasers usefull. Making them depleting would be..bad.
Oh and all tech2 guns can use tech1 and tech2 ammo...So just use tech1 ammo is you dont like the problems that come with tech2. Besides, from the stats on EVE-I, they dont do MORE damage, but just different types. And they sometimes get a bonus to tracking or stuff.

Edited by: Earthan on 09/11/2004 22:18:07 Tell me why the lasers wich are supposed to be oldest technology guns , are now best for dmg, and should be best for transporting matters wich will mean a huge advantege for pilots in 0.0?
If the crystals arent depletable or some other means of balancing , they will be overpowered by far.

Because they're the oldest tech guns, they have been subject to optimisation for a longer period of time == better.
