I dont get why wow is so demanding on my pc vs say another game with far better graphics though...

Signed up for beta, downloaded it. Took me about 5 hours to work through several bugs both with downloading, installing and then finally playing. Once I got into the game it felt just like the old middle age MMO formula. Didn't really do much for me, atleast in the beginning.
I'll try it for the next few days while the open beta is still going, I doubt i'll play it though since I didn't really see anything special about it, it's just like DaoC with better graphics and a new UI. I haven't had a chance to do any questing, PVP or level up but I doubt that will change anything for me.
The intro was hella cool though.

It is really DAoC revisited. Instanced dungeons are about the only new thing I think.
Fun for a while but as for DAoC I bet that I couldn't stand the level grind halfway through to the highest level anymore.

Well i gave up last night actually, their downloader doesnt like my firewall so speed doesnt go above 2kbs.
Testing WoW would have been nice but its not worth the trouble for me.

But I'll be honest, I have been disappointed. The Blizzard Downloader, first of all, should be renamed to "Blizzard Uploader" as you never use more than a fraction of your bandwidth to download, but your whole connection is pretty much screwed while uploading as fast as you can.
As for gameplay, it's really far more generic than I expected, nothing you probably haven't seen before. The only thing that makes it any better than the next MMORPG in line are the familiar classes, but I am still debating over whether or not I want to stick with it long-term.
I know it's still the Beta and all, but if it's any indication of how it will be in the release, it's a mess! There is terrible lag after fights and while casting spells, which can last for minutes. It's really rediculous, and the community isn't in very good shape in response to it.
I'm glad I went ahead and made another subscription payment to EVE!
