How to kill a Marauder?

Khali Fah	Posted - 2009.12.22 04:27:00 - [1] Hi, there is a guy gank my hauler in a high sec system. It costs me 50M loss, but i have a killright to kill his ship back. After i doing some recon with my alt, i found him do missioning in a high sec with a Kronos. My question is how do i kill him? Do i gank him when he undock from the station? or at stargate? or at mission site? Thanks. Tameris Khan	Posted - 2009.12.22 04:33:00 - [2] Your fit will work very well if you drop in on him in mission; especially if he has agro. Use your alt to find his mish, then when he has a lot of agro, in you go! You'll want to get him when he's close to the warp in point or he may escape.
Ekon Bor Amarr Van Diemen's Demise	Posted - 2009.12.22 04:34:00 - [3] Leaving aside the fitting (about which I'm too drunk to comment), as a general rule, I'd go for the mission site. That way (once he's aggressed the npcs), their dps just adds to yours. One of the nicer ways of doing this is to just take away a mission runners active tank and watch the npc's slowly eat him... Curse is good for that.

Lady Karma	Posted - 2009.12.22 04:53:00 - [5] That would do the job nicely. Ditch the armour rep for more resistance. If you think he can take you trimarked armour off before you kill him, then don't fight him. That set up is putting out horrible evil dps. Fit 2 heavy neuts if you can, for range and things rather than medium. If you are still a bit unsure, use an alt to ship scan him, and load torps for his weakest resist. Dont go for him on undock, he will re dock as soon as he see's your neuts and torps face raping him, best is mission, or follow him to next system, and get him on jump in. If you are doing that then you want to fit the mwd to close into web range fast.
Nisstyree Chimera Raiders MeatSausage EXPRESS	Posted - 2009.12.22 05:26:00 - [6] Drop the web for a racial jammer, marauders have ridiculously low sensor strengh and he will end up jammed very often. The phoon will still be faster than him even if he has an AB fit. Check if he has active tank modules running and simply adapt your damage type to being something that the rats in the mission are not using. Also fit neuts as many as you can fit and make sure you have at least one medium neut that you can permarun to keep his cap dead once he's capped out (PVE boats usually have cap recharge so you want to make sure to keep him down once his cap is dead). The rest should be a walk in the park... now I just gotta make sure I'm not the mark

Anyway i used my phoon i normaly use in gang (hence armor rr) Lows: 3x 1600 tungusten plate Damage control II Thermic hardener II Explosive hardener II Kinetic hardener II Meds: Warp Disruptor 2x Medium cap booster 100NM Mwd High: 4x Torpedo lanchers 2x Heavy Unstable power fluctuator 1x Medium Unstable Power fluctuator 1x Large I ax remote armor repairer (replace with a smartbomb or anything other you like :D) The kronos should go down pretty easily once you newt him (unles somebody is rr-ing him then is a little harder :P )... Good luck in killing him

Best is to probe his mission, and use ECM drones, Marauders have very low sensor strength but can dish out more pain than you can tank. I agree on ECM drones. A set of EC-600 can more or less perma jam him. use bigger like EC-900 for better effect. Tho, its an agrument that with good drone skills a set of 5 T2 Heavys is better for over all killing him. Then neut him, and watch as his tank fails to even the rats in there. Add your own dps of course! :). You Phoon looks good for this, personally I'd fit it spesific hardeners since you know what he got for damage, I'd try and add two heavy neuts as well, and a large cap booster so you can neut him well (key to kill his active tank). -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- http://desusig.crumplecorn.com/sigs.html

Pay attention to the wrecks around him and the drones he's using. Tank for his damage, and pick the best drones/missiles to work against his tank. i.e. don't use inferno torps against someone tanking serpentis mission rats. Active tank has hardly any EHP, so using EXP against a runner with therm/kin hardeners = dead fast. Also: Honour can kiss your ass, he suicided you. I'd say ransom him for a cool bill or so and pop him on top of it. p.s. - there better be a frackin FRAPS ♥ Wreck Disposal Services

Make sure you can tank his drones, then just web, neut, point, and slowly chew him up. If he's using rails, which he may be given a PvE scenario, get into a smaller, faster ship (Curse is good, though neut Legion is superior), orbit him close and neut/DPS.

Be stubborn with negotiations. Minimum 1.1bil I would say. A desperate marauder pilot is ripe for exploitation. Though don't stop shooting at any point, apply them thumbscrews. On another note, how do you like your pods in the morning?

Step 2: Fit your ship with 1-2 neuts (mission runners ALWAYS active tank), with a good balance of buffer / DPS (don't bother fitting a rep tbh, 2-3 1600 RT plates will give you more than enough HP to melt him). Step 3: Warp in and kill him. You definitely do not want to do it at a stargate or at a station - it makes it way too easy for him to just dock up or jump; doing it at a mission site is your best bet (or at an asteroid belt or planet or something assuming you can get him to go there). If you have an alt that can fly a Falcon, you might want to use that as a probing ship - that way you can probe the mission down and then jam him (Marauders have crazy low sensor strength so they are really easy to jam). A set of large ECM drones will work well against a marauder too, if you can use them instead of Ogre's in your ship. If the guy's smart he'll have the character that has kill rights on him on his address book so he can see when you log in; you should park your character in your combat ship in a system 1 jump away, log him off, log your alt in, probe down the mission site, then log in, jump and kill him.
