Eve Online:
I'll be short and concise.
My IPO where I raised 50 billion ISK in exchange for the future promise of my stuff was a scam. I'm not parting with all my stuff. A few notes:
1. To be honest, I've never been worth hundreds of billions of ISK, as most folks think I was. I've been a billionaire, but never the fantastically rich person that I've made myself out to be. It was just an image.
2. I raised, in total $374,405,000,000.
3. My initial 50 billion ISK offering got me a list of investors. Over the following weeks and months, I got in touch with most of them in person (in addition to other people) and worked out private deals, where each person thought that they were going to privately fund a "shortage" in my IPO in exchange for one of my officer-fit ships. The bulk of my fund-raising came from that. There's a lot of folks who think that they're getting an officer-fit Golem, or a Paladin, or a CNR, or a Guardian-Vexor today.
4. I have a really cool shirt that says on the front, "Social Engineering Specialist" and on the back reads, "Because there is no patch for human stupidity." I wear it a lot.
5. I'm still leaving Eve. Folks have probably noticed that I haven't been online much lately - the game is still uninteresting to me. Occasional spurts of fun have kept me active over the years; making parodies...hosting the battleship championships, creating Eve Online Hold'Em, tutoring noobs...and lastly, perpetrating a scam.
6. I spent approximately 250 billion of that 374 billion ISK on officer mods. I have about 120 billion ISK left in my wallet.
7. While I'm leaving Eve, and the parodies will disappear, all the wealth and officer gear I've acquired isn't going to waste - an unidentified recipient who knows who he/she is already is going to get...well, everything. They've worked hard to make Eve a great game, and my riches are going to be a salary for them that is long overdue, although they're probably rich enough already to make it pointless.
8. Entity was not involved in my scam, nor any other parties; please don't attempt to lay blame on anyone else. Entity specifically noted that he had no stake in this, and his name attached here didn't mean anything.

I originally put 2.5b into the offering - dominion speculation wasn't going on too heavily yet - and i'm manipulable enough to have been skinned for another 7b after private convos. I don't doubt it could have gone to hundreds of billions with enough people.

This just goes to show a few very important facts about EVE:
1) A fool and his money are soon parted.
2) In EVE, trust is not an asset - it's a liability (unless, of course, you are the person who is being trusted).
3) Just because someone is famous does not mean that he is trustworthy.
IIRC, didn't you say that you had experienced just about everything in EVE except for scamming? If so, was this the reason why you decided to "go out with a bang", or so to speak?

Now this is awesome. Well played Sir. However since I've gone through this (the bored with eve part not the 300b unfortunately :) i'll still recommend not to give away all your iskies. You wouldn't be the first person to return eventually...

Being a noob in investing, I guess this is a nice first lesson for me.á
Thou I could *afford* to loose 2b, I must admit, that it was a bit more, than I was prepared for this timeframe, especially now that my computer is broken, and I can only post through my sister's ancient linux machine.
Well, it was a gamble and I lost.
Scam is solid, and it more than deserves a post in c&p.
Now I must facepalm at myself, and wait for my laptop to be fixed.

It was just business, and a social engineering experiment; I created the belief that I was a mega-wealthy player, and wanted to see how far I could take that.

This is a master stroke. I've been a fan of you pretty much since the week I started playing EVE with Eve University. I heard the Sabre A song and was hooked. I learned about EVE history from you (EVE Online is for Bob, the day the 'Geddons died, etc.), and I am going to miss you so much when you leave! Your parodies and the fiction threads... I'm at work right now and I came across this thread as my co worker was asking about EVE. Thanks Mr. Dax for helping me explain the possibilities of a game like EVE. It showered a perfect example of the underbelly of the game and of humans in general. Be it good or bad.. Greed or pride.. It was summed up beautifully.

When I first joined this game so many years ago I listened to Eve-radio's Idol. He should have won, but some guy got his alliance to vote for him. Long story short, Curzon Dax has been a personal hero for me.
Ever since I've read his story of his Dominix kicking butt I tried to do the same thing. About 2 years later I had the honor to speak to Dax when he came back to eve, and I was suprised to know my fit was very close to his.
Today, after a few months of not seeing him I found this thread, and my heart LEAPED! I talked to Dax about pirating and how much I enjoyed it, and I am VERY glad he got his feet wet and did something I could NEVER do.

Galmarr, if you can fly *my* Arazu and the fittings on it, you can have it; I always like flying with you. :) Its Tech2 fit with Domination warp disruptors and maybe sensor dampeners, so it can scramble at 60km with my Recon L5 while locking down the sensor range on anything to >20km.

After a pretty gutwrenching sob story of being flat broke (far from true), having to need to ask corp mates for my 5b back(lol) that I had invested, he felt compelled to help a "poor soul" out.
I'm a fan of social engineering Dax, and normally wouldn't do that under any other circumstances, but you asked for it. ;)

Still, i decided, since I'm a multi-trillonaire anyways and don't really need those peanuts, to give it all away in a lottery. Nice job on your scam. The only thing that I don't like is that you're leaving and won't face any consequences from your investors. Not that I don't admire what you did, I do, it's just that I feel that half the fun of pulling off scams like this, and not bull **** Jita alt scams, is that the scammer still has to live in the real world.

There is no doubt he scammed people but why is it that one of the biggest scams in eve no one has asked for proof? Any other time there is something like screen shots or it didn't happen?? we are talking 300+billion heist? and there is not proof it happened?
He admited at the end he never had much isk or items as he claimed. Yet at the end he claims to have 250billion isk of meta 14?? Where are the screenshots? HE said he did not want to go down the path of selling officer gear again since it not a big market?? Maybe i will be proving wrong but untill then i say bull****. Giving away a few billion in game to newbs and claiming you gave the rest away is pretty salty coming from this scammer.
Between the refunds that were wanted and the isk invested it barely scratched 50 billion. Not bad but nothing like is claimed.

Trust me he has bought alot of officer modules with my help. I even got some very cheap for him. Unfortualy he scammed me out of alot of isk aswell. Its called getting screwed over twice. Dax will know who i am now. Thank u dude, scamming someone is one thing. Ask someone for help and scamming him after he has helped u is another thing.

I love EOH poker... it's awesome. But could you tweak the code a bit? I've kinda quite playing because I was getting tired of the unusually high odds of a flush or a straight. I'd love to start playing more, but I'm hoping the "randomizer" can develop a bit more randomness.
